  • This Bimobil Unimog Ex435 RV will cost around EUR350k - depending on kit out. On a 9.8 tonne basis it will have just over two tonnes of payload. It is designed for very tough environments.
    Film a bit wobbly due to stabilisation issues which have since been resolved.
    I live in a motorhome full time and travel around Europe in it. I spend most of my time in Poland, Germany and Italy. Vanlife is my life.
    In my CZcams channel, I present reviews of recreational vehicles. Here you will find campervans and motorhomes from the cheapest camper vans to the most expensive luxury liners, from various companies including Hobby, Hymer, Carthago, Westfalia, Wingamm, La Strada, Frankia, Wavecamper, Maurer, Clever Vans, Pössl, Bürstner, Niesmann Bischoff, Action Mobil, Reisemobil Manufaktur, Robeta, Trigano, Challenger, EuraMobil, Laika, Forster, Mobilvetta Design, Affinity, Globe Traveller, Benimar, Roller Team, Adria, Tourne, Megamobil, VW, Mercedes, CS, Renault, Ford, Fiat, Carado, Sunlight, Baileys, Chausson, Balcamp, Knaus, Weinsberg, Mitsubishi, Woelcke, Reisemobile Bürow and others.
    I do this by regularly attending trade events such as CMT Stuttgart, Abenteuer und Allrad, Caravan Salon Dusseldorf, Warsaw Caravan and Camping Show and sometimes others.
    I cover equipment, including 12v electrical equipment and talk a lot about lithium batteries.
    I also show some of the places I have visited in Europe in my own motorhome, as well as the places you can stay at! I try to give as much coverage as I can to official campsites and free places which I use for overnighting. Therefore you can find here the aire or stellplatz that you are possibly looking for.

    The campers you expose your views to are almost always sights to behold, most of us would never get a chance to see half of them without this channel so thank you. A bit off topic but the self conversion DIY camper van life craze has hit pretty hard here in the states. More than a few folks are opting to kitting out their own van using their own two hands with some pretty amazing and inventive results if you ask me. I was wondering if you've come across any in your travels and would allow a few tours of any that are particularly interesting? Thanks!

      I shall be doing that very soon. This week I will buy a Mercedes Sprinter which we will convert into a camper van and I shall film every stage of the build. It is not quite the same thing, but I did film the rebuild of my motorhome : czcams.com/video/mMDWAptHQU4/video.html

    This Bimobil interior design is really not for everyone. It looks so outdated.

    I'd still want a TV even in Iceland. You can only loll around in a hot spring for so long. :)

      Isn't it really expensive to have sat TV in a van? Unless one speaks the local language of course! For me, I find just about everything on the internet!

      @@VanlifewithAlan Yeah, I think an Internet connection would be a must. In Scandinavia you can get full 300 mbit 4G that's unlimited unlimited now for really reasonable money, covers the whole of the Nordic countries and the Baltic states. But if you're in some desolate area with no 4G, I suppose satellite is all you have to work with, or canned video files in a computer of course. No idea what satellite TV would cost, but probably not too bad. It's two-way communications via satellite that costs a ton.

      Yeah dont need a live feed to have a tv. Give CZcams some pennies and you can download 100s of hours of content before heading out for travels. Same with BBC, ITV, Prime, Netflix.

    good video Alan, i love the Unimog but i prefer the bimobil EX 480 with the big window/door on the side and the fix bed in the back, i don't understand why some people or RV companies trying to make their campers look like a home using wood that looks old and outdated i travel all over the world flying and never see an airplane looking like a house inside

      Ha, I'm presently fitting out Zeppelin FM2 box with aircraft galley cabinets and Unimog truck. No plywood so far involved ! Total budget including overhauled Unimog U2150 L38 with factory CTIS around 25% of this budget
      No electronics to go wrong and no worries if it gets a few dents.

    I guess the reason for that bed that comes down is the same as any other that sits up in the ceiling. It is faster and easier to use than folding out the seats.

    • @Wishwader
      @Wishwader Před 5 lety +1

      brighton dude - plus comfier. And allows for two tiers of sleeping if the seating is transformed too. I know some people don't like these beds but for an area of the van where people are sitting 99% of the time anyway i think these beds make sense. Only need full standing height for kitchen and bathroom, not for seating and bed areas.

  • @douglasfernardoalejorge9086

    Mercedes Benz really is an incredible factory, these trucks are colossal emormes and should take you anywhere where a common car or trailer would never come close. But unfortunately in the Brazilian market, even though the country is huge, tropical, several places to explore these models the high voltage wires on street poles are lower than in Europe and in the United States it would be forbidden to run with a truck so high in the streets a simple detail but that would do a lot of damage

    It's not an extra bed. It is the actual bed which has to be lowered down when you want to sleep.

    If you are good with putting things together you could easily build one of these for about a 1/3 the cost.

    • @VanlifewithAlan
      @VanlifewithAlan  Před 4 lety +4

      Not for one third of the cost. If you are doing it yourself, the only thing you are saving on is labour. The parts will cost more.

      If they built a wall around Donald Trump the project would be significantly cheaper to implement. Clad the interior side of the walls with mirrors and everyone is happy.

    The fridge/freezer carrying capacity wouldn't last more than a few days. It's ridiculous. For the asking price of this GEV, it warrants FAR GREATER fridge and freezer capacity. They need to address this flaw in their thinking and the resulting design. In my view through your lens, this thing looks like a high end three or four day trip machine, at most. Solar should dominate the design for true off-the-grid survival using an electric range top, AC, and electric heating all driven by solar panels and a 5000 watt inverter. I think the design team should spend a month off-grid in this design. They'll quickly learn, first hand, its serious short comings.

      In this sector you can have whatever you want built, but the thrashing around tackling Icelandic F Roads will not suit giant homestyle fridges and even Dometic plays second fiddle to Engel, National Luna or Snomaster for hardcore chilling.The practical limit for box length on a LWB Unimog chassis is about 4m without huge overhang, so there is only so much space inside. I think you are going to need a 6x6 Zetros or a KAT1, but they are less handy than a Unimog in supermarket carparks.
