Engendering Love Summit: The Boy Crisis by Warren Farrell Farrell Experiential

Worldwide, the boy crisis is a crisis of: 1) Mental health: Boys’ suicide rate goes from equal to girls to five times girls’ between the ages of nine and 20. 2) Education: Boys will soon be only half as likely as girls to graduate from college. And, 3) Physical health: Boys’ sperm counts have declined by 60%.
The Causes: 1) Dad-deprivation: The boy crisis has ten major contributors. Most important, the boy crisis resides where dads do not reside. 2) The “Purpose Void”: Boys’ traditional purposes-being disposable in war or work (e.g, hazardous jobs)-are diminishing. Boys face a “Purpose Void.”
Following an interactive experience, we'll examine solutions, such as: new senses of purpose, transitions from heroic intelligence to health intelligence, from valuing dad’s dime to valuing dad’s time. We’ll explore solutions for intact families and single moms, and for preventing family dinner nights from becoming “family dinner nightmares."
