    Finally also picked up on these monitors after much debate. No more flickering, no more HDMI issues and no more colour corrections after posting videos! Thanks Aivars.

    Nice setup, as always! A programmer’s (and designer’s) workspace is like a craftsman’s workbench: you want everything you need and no distractions. Also, I run as much as I can on my iPad now, including Jira, Slack, Zoom, etc.
    About the display, though, I just can’t get past “Here’s the new Apple monitor, same resolution as… my late 2015 iMac.” Yes, better panel, better camera, but I really, really, *really* want moar pixels. I’m spoiled by my 3440x1440 Dell display, and I want the same thing but Retina with a high refresh rate. Maybe next year…

    • @AivarsMeijers
      @AivarsMeijers  Před rokem +1

      Thanks, Richard!
      I doubt we will see an ultrawide display from Apple anytime soon. There are 5kx2K displays in the market, that could be a better option compared with 3440x1440, but macOS calling will be not perfect on it.
      With additional screens around the main 27" 5K, I do not feel that I need ultrawide for more space. Sure, if one day Apple will release ultrawide I can change my mind as soon as I see that presented in keynote :)

  • @SeriousCat5000

    I'm a little concerned by the 16:9 aspect ratio. I find that the wide screen format is not ideal for coders who work vertically in the editor as opposed to video editors who work horizontally. The current monitor on my desk is a 1k 16:10 24-inch dell and I was surprised that upgrading to this 27" monitor will add only one-half inch to the vertical space... but 3" horizontally. The newest MacBook Pro 16" has a 15.5:10 aspect ratio and upgrading from my previous 16:10 MacBook I find gaining that extra vertical space allows me to keep the dock open while having the same lines of code visible in the editor.

    • @AivarsMeijers
      @AivarsMeijers  Před rokem

      I rarely have class longer than 2-3 screens, so that is easy to scroll and read. If it is hard to read the class, that good sign that it is too long and should be refactored :)

    Aivars, how do you deal with the reflections on this screen?
    I'm a programmer too and cannot imagine looking at the IDE all day long and see... my reflection like it is one black glass mirror...
    For the last six years, I've been with DELL U2415, and this is not just Matte IPS, but completely antiglare and antireflective - I can wave on the front of the screen, and I can't see anything!
    I'm sure you're already ok because on the Macbook is a black mirror too, but for me personally is insanely distracting.
    p.s. I can confirm the supply chain is a Major issue - After the start of the pandemic here in Bulgaria, we had to wait for Apple products for months too...

    • @AivarsMeijers
      @AivarsMeijers  Před rokem

      I can see my reflection if I focus on it, but I just do not see it in day to day work.
      Perhaps it is some kind of adoption and brain just ignores that information.
      idk, but I have zero problem with that.
