- We took the 2021 Dodge Durango SRT and SRT Hellcat to the drag strip to see how quickly each can accelerate from 0-60 mph and through the quarter-mile, and to shed some light on whether the Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat and its supercharged V-8 is appropriately quicker than the Durango SRT.

You guys are, low key, the best drivers out there. Better than MT, C&D, R&T etc. 11.50s@117 is so impressive. That 392 surprised me. 12.80s is solid AF.
They're the only one's that actually take them to the drag strip. It's great to actually see what these beasts can do at the strip. MT and C&D use street/unprepped surfaces for their testing, too bad they don't do both....
@@101alan1 not to mention the timing system difference
@@hondaservicecenter also don’t forget these guys used the torque reserve system which car and driver didn’t seem to use at all and the system requires some understanding to get just right. You can see by the progression of results here that it’s not super simple to use.
Soon after buying my Hellcat, I took a trip from Florida to Massachusetts and back over Christmas. I have made this trip many times in various cars, but I have to say that this was the most comfortable I have ever been. Generally, fuel stops require stretching out, working out the cramps, etc. Not this car. You stop, fill the tank, visit the Rest Room, and go. Because of the problems Southwest was having, I was unable to stop and had to drive straight through. It was a pleasure.
I expect to keep this car until I can't drive any more. I doubt the value will drop appreciably and my heirs will appreciate my foresight.
Oh I beat there where many fuel stops just saying.
About 300 miles per tank. If you want to play, you gotta pay. Believe me, it's worth it.@@Gooddog1
SRT seats are one of the most comfortable out there
I purchased my Durango Hellcat about 3 weeks ago. This car puts a smile on my face every time I get behind the wheel. My wife feels the same way.My Dealership did not charge a markup but if they did I wouldn’t have purchased it.It’s not my daily driver and will be stored in about 3 weeks for the winter.I also like it was a 1 year run for production.
12's bone stock is awesome for the 392. I think you could get it into the high 11's with just a decent cam, an aggressive tune and maybe a light amount of weight reduction (pull the back seats, spare and run 1/4 tank of gas). 11's is quick on the street! Even a 12 second ride that moves out of the hole like these do is so much fun. Man I need to get me one of those!
392 Durango owner here, previous HC challenger owner. From the line it can LAUNCH! It’s an absolute blast to drive. Straight piped it as well damn it sounds American.
I just traded in my 22 cat for a 700 mile 21 392 sim to what you did. I do miss the whine and better gas mileage ironically, but the rango has such a better build quality and is still a performance bargain. I’d have lived to find a Durango cat, but no way was I going to pay 100k. Also, the dealership gave me 86 for the cat, I made some bank on equity. The dealership sold me the 392 for 75otd with a 150k free power train warranty, only extra not optioned by original owner was sunroof and tv`s.
18 challenger hellcat and 16 durango RT, would love to have a hellcat or 392 durango but don't want to add a car payment, both of mine are paid off.
Sounds so good! Love these drag strip videos. So impressed with Dodge
Love the video!
I like the Hellcat but I'd probably take the 392 since it's less complex than the 6.2 Hemi.
Same, plus the 392 is more than enough power for street use anyway. HC is just for bragging rights at the strip.
Im still torn. Im hoping to be able to get my hands on a durango hellcat this coming year with little to no mark up. Love how these sound though
Great video
Nice to see Dodge isn't padding their numbers, those 0-60s are actually a little faster than advertised.
Love my ‘23 DDHC 🏁🇺🇸
Dodge needs to work on their anti theft system these 2 vehicles have flashing red lights saying steal me
I’m just happy with Durango RT.
You guys mirror what I have read a lot, seems better to do some mild brake torquing than to use launch control. Pretty weird honestly but glad it works!
If they got a custom tune the launch control can be changed alot
When you drop the kids off at soccer at 6, But gotta go to the dragstrip at 7
3:28 Hellcat gives you a different excited feeling..no need to compare anything else..that's all the difference you need 🙂
so it's technically faster than the Trackhawk. It hit 3.41 second 0-60 stock in the Hellcat Durango.
Trackhawk is faster, durango just launches better due to added weight in the Rear from the 3rd row allowing rear wheels to grip better.
I just got a 22' durango 392 and it shifts pretty hard on track mode. Is it normal? Thoughts?
Yes track mode is always a more aggressive shift on the 392s
Me and my wife order one😂.their show nice❤.
And two years later. You still can't afford one. Next video
I dreamed of getting one of these or a Jeep SRT for years but sadly by the time I'll have a chance to afford it all vehicles will be electric.. damn
Same Rivals Like a Porsche Cayenne Turbo,Jaguar F Pace SVR,Ford Explorer ST,Audi RSQ8,BMW X5 M Competition,Mercedes GLE 63 SUV or Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk
No, it rivals Alpina XB7, GLS63S, but GLS is slightly more roomier and comfortable than both of them with one inch more legroom in the third row than the hellcat and Alpina.
👏🏻👏🏻
There’s more Durango Hellcats on the market because people are buying them and reselling them for a profit. And in this market, they’ll make a bunch on it.
why not just turn the launch control DOWN to what you did on the foot brake?
A lot of people have ripped on the launch control system but it’s honestly very good and for a while I was doing best results foot braking with torque reserve manually but not that I know launch control can launch with even more boost than foot brake (6psi vs 3psi) I’m getting better results from launch control. These guys didn’t have the vehicle long enough to experiment a million times like I have so I’m not surprised with their conclusions.
710 horsepower performance suv 🚀🚀🇺🇸🇺🇸💪💪💪
Maybe because the SRT hellcat is being ripped off by adding $20,000 to the sticker price they can eat it! The two that I saw they were asking $114,000 for no way!
That’s the dealer. Dealer markup is bs
same boat i’m in. i can find brand new ones for +$2k-$3k more than msrp but slightly used with 1-2k miles on it and they want $100k+. that’s ridiculous! i can get a model x performance that’s faster for that price.
There adding almost the same amount to the regular SRT durango's now too. They were trying to get a regular SRT Durango not a hellcat out the door to me for 100K ,, PASS
They need to make a Durango hellcat redeye
please no. the r/t was bad enough/pushing it in my opinion
Redeye widebody
I'd rather see a RT, SRT 392 or Hellcat widebody.
@@fallback8314 How is the R/T bad? If you didn't have the 5.7 Hemi there wouldn't be a 6.2 or 6.4.
@@La-yt1wr That’s what I have now 2020 dodge challenger SRT 50th anniversary limited in numbered edition challenger with 392 in.hemi with a Shaker hood Widebody in Hellraisen hence the name
Imagine a SS 392 6.4
Double the price fuck that lol
It's kind of hard to take this review seriously when he's calling an SUV a car
SUVs, sedans, minivans and actual vans are considered cars because it's not as heavy as a bus or truck and doesn't take 5 lanes to turn into one lane of a road
