5 star is incredibly reliable. And I don’t have any benefit for saying that. Just like livernois. They have these EB tunes down. I had 120000 on my last EB tuned and not a mechanical issue
Agreed! I've been running their E50 tune on my 2018 F-150 for over a year now. I have about 12,000 miles now and no issue...and TONS of smiles!! :)
5 Star tuned 2018 F150 shortbed XL 3.5 track hound. Low 11's and on its 20th pass, scattered the crank after ingesting the turbos. Not 5 🌟's fault, Ford fault for a bad turbo bearing and me beating the snoteroonies out of it. 13,500 miles. Cost me $ 12,000 to repair as it took out the radiator and all the AC components as well. My neighbors 1975 D150 with a Supercharged Junkyard 5.7 has a seasons full of loudpeddle debauchery and still spec's out within 3% of factory. Mind you, we picked up the motor for $2500 with trans and $5k for the Supercharger. Gotta pay to play !
When running boost on an engine it is bound to break. Upgrading hardware will give you longevity and better performance. This is a cheap way out of upgrading your vehicle. The 6.4 in the durango if rebuilt on the bottom end will give endless miles. Also what about the drive lines with the tunes?!?! If you drive it like it should be driven it will wear down. This tune just decreases that time.
5 star is a great company, but I'd give More Power Tunes the edge. MPT shift points are on point!
That is a killer tuned ST! However, the SRT wasn't far behind it, AND the SRT still retains its factory warranty. I'd be willing to bet that tune on the ST completely obliterated the factory drivetrain warranty.

Daniel Carthen true. But add a couple more gears to the transmission and that V8 will get even high mpgs on the highway and it will balance out to a good number when you average it out with the city mpg.

StevenB96 30 mpg? That’s impressive. The best I can get my 5.0 f150 on the highway is 23. And that’s with the 10 speed
Everett Clunie at what speed? The 30 mpg is with my 5.7 kicking down to 4 cylinders. If I keep it in 8 at the speeds I mentioned I can still get 25-27 or so. I normally drive at like 80 (live in FL) and get about 22-24 overall

The doors and fenders will be rusted off in five years, guaranteed. After well over 100 years of building car bodies, they still cant build one that doesnt rust through in short order. The firmware and electronics will be obsolete in three years just like a laptop computer from Walmart. All the fancy little blinky, video game lights wont get you from point A to point B. Deere Gear of Northeast GA Incorrect. There's not an agency in the USA that "tunes" their patrol vehicles in 2019. Warranty and longevity of all engine-related components (drivetrain, differentials, & axles included) are the main goals of every agency when it comes to money spent on patrol units. Any custom tuning would also present a blatant liability issue for any occurence that could be even remotely attributed to any vehicle performance modifications beyond the mods of retrofitted emergency equipment (and there are already very specific guidelines & requirements for aftermarket equipment installations).
@@igiveuponhumanity9238 agree to disagree. This is ford tuning not Joe blow tuning vs Ford's. There was even article from Ford stating this.
Deere Gear of Northeast GA The context of Tj Mower's comment, which I realize is a joke, was that police will have their patrol Explorers "tuned." My point is that aftermarket tuning will not occur on police vehicles. If you're referring to the differences in civilian versions of a vehicle versus the police-specific / Special Service Package variations and calibrations, then I concur... but that's been hapening since the early '80s that I know of without researching it, and likely beforehand as well.

@@Duhme1 Not true, I'm a service advisor at ford. We don't care
What ford doesn’t know, ford will never know haha.
Hahahaha, wont save you.
How about a mod on the Durango also, just to make it fair :)
Then people would complain that it’s V8 C’s v6 even though the V8 is NA and the Ford has two turbos 🤦🏻♂️
Yeah the obvious choice here would be to get ahold of a hellcat swapped Durango- forced induction vs. forced induction-- BUT that's a little overboard considering the SC 6.2 isn't offered in any Durango trim from the factory, while Ford offers the twin-turbo V6 from factory. I guess we will have to settle for an Explorer ST vs. Jeep Trackhawk comparo if we are ever to see Ford vs. Mopar forced-induction SUV's. I get some may gripe about the 6 vs. 8 angle, but honestly when you're dealing with forced induction- the amount of cylinders starts to matter much less- boost is a really great equalizer in the "no replacement for displacement" argument.
Like what. It has a 6.4 hemi. The explorer has a 3.0 EcoBoost. 400 hp hemi 475. What's not fair here? It almost lost stock. Soooooo???? Hmmmmm????
@@Alan-tr5uj chrysler is planning on a limited release of a hellcat version of the Durango after they release the next body style for the grand cherokee.
Obviously you did not watch the whole clip or have some type of listening problem.
Good no-nonsense video.
Good video. I didn't know about the explorer st.
How much power is there on 93 octane only?
Reaction time vs the blue one was .23 for the durango. And anyone else notice when they raced the with one vs the durango on the time sleep they jumped the light and it showed foul.... Just saying
Reaction time has no impact on elapsed time.
Is there a mod for a 2017 Tacoma 3.5 v6. No bolt on?
Great video
I’d still take Durango in a heart beat. Crazy number on the ford tho
Yeah with a tune and special fuel
Thats ford is trash, and imagine that Tune on the Durango
@@Twittavelli - what do you mean?
@@Ford_Raptor_R_720hp_V8 I hate how they messed up the explorer. used to love the look of it, now its tacky.
The fiat Chrysler barge is trash! I’d take either ford in a minute! 5900 pounds! Wtf! It needs 500 hp to get out of its own way!
I never had my SRT Jeep ever go over 4.5 0-60 and typically was 4.2-4.3. Still impressed by the explorer ST and Tarus Sho with a tune. Not sure how long they will last tuned though.
Don't forget the Fusion Sport :)
i agree but could they do a comparison with a tuned e85 durango? fair is fair right
And you can probably kiss the factory warranty goodbye once you have the tune!
@@RJC-ps6wcYou don’t buy these cars to keep them stock lmao
Impressive right up my alley. I need that tune bc i like to speed without making any extra noise. Noise makers get caught far more often.
Awesome Fox Body Mustang at 5:50! Would love to see more of it, has it been featured in any videos? If not, I would love to learn more.
I would also like to know what real-world mpg is with the Durango. We're getting about 23 with the ST so far. It took the wife about 30 days to get a speeding ticket. For $600 I'd consider a tune if it was my regular driver, but it's not, it's hers.
Dammmmmmnnnnn that tuned Explorer Was SIIIICK..... !!
Isn't the hellcat Durango the fast 3 row?
Yup
Wow. That is incredible performance without any mechanical changes. What does that type of tuning do to everyday drivability, reliability, fuel economy? We don't typically drag race our SUVs every day, but we do have to haul family and friends, AND we have to pay the fuel and repair bills.
Explorer is sharp looking too. Saw an ST today and couldn’t take my eyes off it.
Maybe because you thought it was a police interceptor
Mr. TAMW haha
Soooooooo we have to mix gas everytime we fill up how bout a regular person tune
What gear sets where on the SUV'S? My explorer has 4.10 gears. Great hole shots.
My 2016 f150 ecoboost crewcab 4x4 and a 3.31 gear runs at and sometimes under 5 second 0-60. That’s the 3.5 ecoboost and it surprises a lot of people. Of course I’m running an mpt 93 prx tune
Gotta love the MPG!
Explorer with the 5.0 would be pretty sweeet, but the tuned explorer is fast AF!
Do most of the tuners have to sit up on the windshield?
Is there a difference between the ST and Platinum?
