Explorer is heavily tuned, and modified. But it doesn't take much to get a lil more out of the twin turdbo ecoboost v6. Stock they're 400hp 411lb-ft tq.
Tha_ville if u get the right exhaust setup it kinda sounds like a baby 7.3 power stroke until high revs. But I mean the 3.5 isn’t as good sounding as a coyote or 4.6 modular but it keeps up stat wise and from what I’ve seen reliability as well
First of all this is a Grand Cherokee Trackhawk (not an srt). The Trackhawk quarter mile time is 11.7 seconds stock. The Ford Explorer is an ST, and that stock will do 13.9 seconds in the quarter mile. So therefore this race was against a stock Trackhawk and a tuned Explorer ST, to clear up any confusion. Really good race btw!
It doesnt have 700hp, its an SRT. The Trackhawk has 700+hp. The SRT has 475hp. I dont see how that is a Trackhawk. If it was, it should have walked that Ecoboost EVERY time.
It’s a track hawk with a crappy driver the ST took it but the TrackHawk is running stock numbers even though it’s modified so either it’s not tuned correctly if it has mods or the driver sucks ass either way in this race the ST won not anything to be excited about though because a properly tuned TrackHawk would leave the ST behind but Ford guys can have the glory for now 👍🏽
We got one back in July (The ST) and did a 5-star tuning. It is CRAZY fast. Never been in a car that pulled like that, and especially nothing close to its size.
I’m sure that jeep is tuned also. 11.50’s is crazy for either of these tanks. 60’s and 70’s cars were great but we’re living in the greatest time for performance. If it gets ruined by electric appliances, then it will always be the best time.
TTime685 how long do they take to charge? And he didn’t argue none of your points and still his point is valid. Electric cars are all that you said except they are ugly as hell and takes all the fun outta what ppl love about cars.
The SRT Jeep is the vehicle equivalent of the 45 year old dad that wears affliction clothing and yells at his wife in public. The Explorer ST is the classy dad that was a college athlete and still stays in shape, but is super humble.
More like a frat boy thay gets tattoos all the time to look cooler than the football lineman. St always getting mods to beat the chunky jeeps and dodges.
@Hammock Shark no there just wont be a stick shift Shelby, since the GT350 is dead (which was manual only), and the only Shelby theyre making now is the GT500 (DCT only). The 5.0s, Mach 1s, etc will still come in a stick
NO. Them discontinuing cars is a smart business move. Cars are hugely competitive but don't sell as much as Trucks or SUVs, and Ford saw the writing on the wall with the competition's sales figures considered. We would never get the Ford Bronco or well-developed Mustangs & Ford trucks if Ford kept pumping money into econoboxes that saw little return. Cars were a dying plant in their garden, and it was time to take it down. They only work for Toyota & Kia. I'm glad Ford ditched cars to focus on their trucks & mustangs.
These results actually make sense. The wheel and tire setup on the Ford is much better suited for drag racing. And the V6 may give the Ford a better power to weight ratio.
Dammmm!....Good Race, Both Trucks Put Up Some Good Numbers,...They Were Going Back And Forth,..I Really Was Impressed With That EcoBoost Explorer,..When I Saw The Match Up, I Said Ain't No Way That Explorer Gone Stand A Chance,..I Was Wrong,..We Got A Sleeper💪🏾
@@MrDavidelliottjr they may not be "really needed" but they are still there and they did give the Ford an advantage that the Jeep appears to not have as it looks like it's on street tires. Also, AWD and all, you can hear the Jeep feathering his throttle to reduce wheel spin from the street tires on the start.
Those ecoboost v6's are no joke! My uncle rented a Ford Expedition (larger model than the Explorer) with the ecoboost v6. And with a cab full of people (7 people in the car) he was able to get to 110mph on our local highway!
You know whats even crazier, that is a fucking Trackhawk. I remember the old Explorer Sports tuned and even running E85 could barely beat Srt Jeeps. However this Explorer St is literally running identical if not a slight bit faster than the Trackhawk. That's impressive to say the least.
Two days ago I got a 2024 Explorer ST. I traded a 23 XLT Explorer in for the ST. The xlt was a 4cyl turbo that I thought was fairly fast for 4cyl. But the ST is a whole different vehicle. It looks pretty much the same but that engine !!! Twin turbo in sport mode turns the ST SUV unto a hot rod. 21 inch black wheels with scorpion tires. Its a monster! And personally I like the looks of it overall. And its fun to drive. Stock from the dealer its a fast SUV. Faster than I expected.
The lower lane seemed to hook better and at least the first race it appeared that the Jeep got tree'd by the Ford. The cuts were really tight but they were both doing within 2 hundreds. Nice tune on the Ford but in all likelihood the Hemi will probably still be able to do this 50-60k down the road with some fresh tires while the Ford will likely need something rebuilt...nothing against either just the ecoboost is going to be more stressed while the Jeep's entire drive line was built from the factory to handle the extra output
Simon Corriere no you don’t define stock as “tuned” stock is off the show room floor and no work done at all, putting a tune on a turbo car is a night and day difference in power. They were great races but the eco boost isn’t making stock boost at all
Having both a 2017 Explorer Platinum and a 2018 F-150, this makes me happy :D Ecoboost engines are extremely underrated, I get 24MPG in my supercrew F-150 with 400 horsepower!
Gas mileage was great with the stock 18 inch rims, put some 20s with all terrain tire and gas mileage went down to 13 mpg in the city and around 18 on the hwy. Used to get 18-20 in the city and around 24-26 on the hwy.
People sleep on the Eco Boosts. The "eco" has always been a red herring. They put torque to the ground, and with a $500 tune they easily crank torque numbers off the charts right off the lot. Sound wise, its not even close, that 392 sounds like a rabid grizzly. The Eco was clearly on super meaty drag radials The SRT looks like it was running some ugly ass skinny sidewall street slicks. probably a good bit stickier than all seasons but the flexion on the rubber probably dulled his potential hookup speed. be nice to know the power and weight of both of these, No doubt the ST has some crazy high torque numbers.
Yeah I've got a 1.6L EcoBoost Fusion and its hella torque happy, and the turbo screams like a banshee in tunnels and when driving along rock walls you can really hear it spool up
Yeah honestly the ford escape titanium package with the v6 engine is very quick. Change the eco boost out for a proper twin turbo kit. The automatic transmission and awd smart traction, makes for a consistent pull. Stock sleeper as is, but with a little tweaking...
Now put the upgraded Magnuson or HPE 1000 kit on the Hellcat since this Explorer is "whoopin" a stock Trackhawk. The Explorer ST is nice, but stock, it can't beat a Durango 392 let alone a Trackhawk.
Stephen Breeding ok. I own a 2013 srt charger and I really ain’t paid no numbers no mind to be honest. I was tripping off the fact that the v6 beat the track hawk and just refused to believe it guess. bruh 😎 lol
I was still selling cars at Ford when these first came out and they’re amazing, I’d take the Explorer ST over a fully loaded Expedition. They’re a blast stock
Its a Trackhawk cause SRT comes with Red brake calipers and Trackhawks only come in yellow. Plus listen to 1:25 as you can hear the supercharger noise.

Tha_ville if u get the right exhaust setup it kinda sounds like a baby 7.3 power stroke until high revs. But I mean the 3.5 isn’t as good sounding as a coyote or 4.6 modular but it keeps up stat wise and from what I’ve seen reliability as well
that’s actually a good poiny
My RS had a hell of a time keeping up with one of these explores. They have some balls for sure!
Love the way that 6.4 sounds down the track in the distance.
I kept saying that ain’t no SrT not the way is sounding lol
Yea, but a 3.5 taking down a 6.2 is pretty damn impressive. Even if it needs a tune
cnebuda Damn impressive I honestly didn’t expect that. So now it’s on my radar. That take off is great I knew Ecoboost were good but damn.
cnebuda Yea it is impressive, also just to note the 2020 Explorer ST has the 3.0 ecoboost which makes 400hp stock
Trackhawk was not stock, it had a smaller upper pulley, bigger injectors and a tune.
If someone told me back in 2005 that a v6 explorer would be as fast as something with 700 hp id laugh.
It doesnt have 700hp, its an SRT. The Trackhawk has 700+hp. The SRT has 475hp. I dont see how that is a Trackhawk. If it was, it should have walked that Ecoboost EVERY time.
@@ctdope youre totally wrong, thats a trackhawk not a regular srt. A regular srt could NEVER hit 11s. They have trouble even breaking into 12s.
ctdope that’s a Trackhawk bro do you not see the badge on the back and the way it’s built overall? It’s a Trackhawk
It’s a track hawk with a crappy driver the ST took it but the TrackHawk is running stock numbers even though it’s modified so either it’s not tuned correctly if it has mods or the driver sucks ass either way in this race the ST won not anything to be excited about though because a properly tuned TrackHawk would leave the ST behind but Ford guys can have the glory for now 👍🏽
@@97336cf Gotcha. Then the ST is seriously tuned. NO WAY a stock ST would take a stock Trackhawk.
Love my 2020 ST. Light tune brings it up around 500HP without danger of blowing. You can pull 11's all day long on good tires.
A Tesla P100D would smoke these ya fool.. Electric motors\cars are 5 times more efficient and create monstrous instant torque.
TTime685 how long do they take to charge? And he didn’t argue none of your points and still his point is valid. Electric cars are all that you said except they are ugly as hell and takes all the fun outta what ppl love about cars.
It’s not tuned thats a Trackhawk.
TRACKHAWK
That’s an stock Trackhawk

The SRT Jeep is the vehicle equivalent of the 45 year old dad that wears affliction clothing and yells at his wife in public. The Explorer ST is the classy dad that was a college athlete and still stays in shape, but is super humble.
Well said 👍
More like a frat boy thay gets tattoos all the time to look cooler than the football lineman. St always getting mods to beat the chunky jeeps and dodges.

imagine if ford put this much effort into their cars, instead of discontinuing them
They put the 3.5 twin turbo in the Taurus SHO before they put it in the Explorer Sport. Didn’t save the Taurus though.
I feel you on that !
Like the crown vic😭😭 that car had so much potential tbh
These results actually make sense. The wheel and tire setup on the Ford is much better suited for drag racing. And the V6 may give the Ford a better power to weight ratio.

@@roblowndes7829 drag radials. Lol. Fa real dude. These are awd suvs. No drag radials really needed.
@@MrDavidelliottjr they may not be "really needed" but they are still there and they did give the Ford an advantage that the Jeep appears to not have as it looks like it's on street tires. You know whats even crazier, that is a fucking Trackhawk. I remember the old Explorer Sports tuned and even running E85 could barely beat Srt Jeeps. However this Explorer St is literally running identical if not a slight bit faster than the Trackhawk. That's impressive to say the least.

TOTALLY agree, so close, epic so fun 2 watch, love it , each super well built machines
Is it just me or did the Jeep start early most of the time
Oh yeah
Jeep had better ET than Ford he didn’t start early
I he started early he would have red lit.
Awd buddy
I’m impressed with the Ford. But the Jeep SRT has always been my dream vehicle.

D P depends on how you define it but ok
Simon Corriere no you don’t define stock as “tuned” stock is off the show room floor and no work done at all, putting a tune on a turbo car is a night and day difference in power. They were great races but the eco boost isn’t making stock boost at all

Why would they put a voodoo in an explorer when it can deal to most V8s with a turbo 6?

People sleep on the Eco Boosts. The "eco" has always been a red herring. They put torque to the ground, and with a $500 tune they easily crank torque numbers off the charts right off the lot. Sound wise, its not even close, that 392 sounds like a rabid grizzly.
The Eco was clearly on super meaty drag radials
The SRT looks like it was running some ugly ass skinny sidewall street slicks. probably a good bit stickier than all seasons but the flexion on the rubber probably dulled his potential hookup speed. be nice to know the power and weight of both of these, No doubt the ST has some crazy high torque numbers.
Still impressive, that was a trackhawk not an SRT

Great video bro ! Keep then coming.
