@@dougdickason Exactly. Isn't that unconditional love? Elvis' personal life was just as fascinating or more than his career. He was a fascinating person and a great personality study. The music, the looks, the talent, the guns, the food, the cars, the planes, and yes... Even the drugs. There has never been anyone like Elvis. Now I don't worship the man, although in my lost state I used to idolize him. In fact, I used to think when I died he was the first person I wanted to meet. Not now, JESUS is Lord and the only one I worship.

Elvis is totally overwhelmed in this this interview, he literally cannot comprehend that he can be involved with such breathtaking project. Elvis truely was the most humble and gracious entertainer to have ever graced a stage.
I will say, although in good shape he looks very tired, there again who wouldn't after just finishing one midblowing performance and ready to do do another. I thought he handled the interview with sincereity and graciousness.
It was quite apparent his breathing was affected after singing for over an hour, that's a sign of asthma, exertion aggravates the lungs and you overbreath to compensate.
I also think this interview must have hit a raw nerve for him as to why he couldn't perform to all those countries around the world in person, so really although grateful as he sure was for the satellite concert it was a double edged sword, yet another blow to him along with many hed been deprived of careerwise over the years.
After such a gruelling stint, his body needed rest and recuperation and even superman could not have endured such a gruelling schedule without some form of sustenance, sadly he had too many enablers around him who were only too happy to indulge with him, in their own words they didn't want the party to end. It wasnt them who were putting their bodies through endless energy sapping routines, it wasnt them that felt obligated to be everyones cashcow, and it wasn't them to ultimately pay the highest price of all.
73 was as we know a very difficult time for Elvis personally, he shouldered the blame for the divorce, at this time and thereafter slowly falling into a pitiful abyss masking his pain sadness and many regrets with anthing to shut out the world.
Elvis was always the great pretender, hid behind a painted smile, to proud to beg, I think that came from his upbringing. Why on earth could no-one see behind the facade, Elvis would have moved heaven on earth to help his friends, they didn't try hard enough to help him.

The Charisma for sure. I don't know if he did a video already on that? A good study would be when did Elvis' charisma kick in? Because when I see young Elvis... It's really not there. Maybe minimal. But then late 60's and 70' he owned it. I think that's why I like 70's Elvis the best. I also think his voice was at it's best in the 70's.

People forget how shy he was. He might have had social anxiety doing these interviews. He was nervous many times during interviews. He always gives that nervous laugh during interviews. He had problems but we have to be careful not to guess what was wrong. Sometimes we can pick apart every morsel of info especially after someone dies because that person can’t give us any more to go on. Elvis fans know who he was, faults & all. That’s why we love him as a gifted singer ( which he knew was given to him by God) & most of all because of knowing him and his trials, makes his music even more breathtaking. A true artist is one who allows us to feel and see his pain so it can be felt by us & make us feel their passion & reaches our soul so deeply it can bring a tear to our eyes. I thank him for that.

He wanted to do live concerts around the globe, that was Elvis's dream, but Parker wouldn't let him, because Parker was a criminal, a wanted man outside the US, but Elvis never knew that. Elvis only knew he wouldn't allow Elvis to travel. Imagine Elvis thinking I'm being broadcast to all the countries and Im not actually getting to go to all of the countries and perform in each country like he had always wanted to do, it would have been frustrating for Elvis. Stage lights were physically hot in the seventies, along with wearing a heavy jumpsuit and moving all over the stage and singing in Elvis's style was enough to make him sweaty.

I thought elvis went clean in the months leading to the Hawaii show. I thought he exercised, lost weight, stayed off the drugs and sunbathed in order to get a tan to make sure he looked 10/10 for the satellite Special. And apparently the day after the show the Memphis mafia found elvis completely stoned on his hotel balcony with Linda trying to wake him, they thought he might have changed but he returned to his old bad habits. Elvis always raised to the challenge but when he didn’t have one he became disillusioned and turned to drugs and food.I think that’s what Marty lacker said but I’m not sure lol great vid anyway love ur content bro

Your on the money my young brother cause I was around for some of the Elvis era during the 70s and man my Uncle the fan saw him perform more than once and called it back then, not many people who were fans were willing to admit his energy and enthusiasm was way down after 72 when he began touring at the time... When I would hear about the weight gain and change in appearance and my uncle and his friends say he's not going to be around much longer Elvis was gone less than 2 yrs after I heard that in my home's living room...
Anyway I'm really excited about the new fans post Elvis era fans like yourself man, you all bring a fresh perspective to the fan base and if your criticized for it their blind to the marterizm they bring, Elvis was human and as such had fault yet loved

If you do your research Elvis got nervous before every show.Don'you think he might be nervous in an interview.Remember Elvis was shy. Also he wore Aviators because he had glaucoma. He wore them to protect his eyes from the bright lights. Also Elvis had major medical conditions for which he took meds. I did my research. Also, Kathy Westmoreland , Elvis' high singet and road companion, stated that without the meds he would have died much sooner.Elvis,a very private man made very few people aware oh his health issues. Charlie Hodge and Kathy knew but am still researching if others knew about his medical conditions.By the way, Kathy stated that Elvis stated many times he would die at age 42.In fact, his two step brothers stated that Elvis called them to his room and said it would be up to them to write his legacy.. He died two weeks later.Elvis private nurse said Elvis was hospitalized mant times for exhaustion. Elvis as a perfectionist probably exhausting himself becaused he rehearsed weeks for the satellite show.

I am reading books on Elvis and realize how much fabrication there is told in them.To sell books publishers often put in false, salacious material so the books
would sell more.I will not read a book if I believe that is their agenda or if it is written from revenge. When only close confidantes (numerous sources with first hand accounts) then I am more likely to believe the particular story.Knowling much about many disease states and pharmacology, I am trying to work out in my mind what Elvis died from.I have a belief in what Dr. Nick said. When I have time, I am going to listen to Dr. Nick's medical licensing board tetimony. That will help me settle in my mind what happened.I do believe Ginger Alden who said he was not depressed and was planning a future of performing and having more children. His mood was good the day he died.I read her book and got to know Elvis
better, his everyday comings and goings. Also, both of his nurses shed light on the person of Elvis.Regardless, I loved Elvis, the human being, the performer, and his spirituality, flaws and all.He was given to us by God.Enjoy Heaven,Elvis.

He seemed to be a little nervous to me. Hard to relax and unwind. Elvis was use to doing a lot of activities, to keep him busy. Whether it be riding horses, playing racket ball, playing football or just hanging out watching movies. It seems as though, needed to constantly keep going. I don't know how Elvis would of been able to wear all those long sleeve outfits. They weighed quite a bit, from what I hear. I would of been sweating a lot just from that. Yes I would of liked to see Elvis healthy and not have all those medical issues. Yes taking the prescribed drugs, sadly brought on some of the side effects. It just became too much for Elvis to manage. Elvis was only human and that being said made him vulnerable not perfect. People deal with things differently. No set plan in stone. Always a fan for life. Long live Elvis in our hearts. Thank you for showing this interview. We take the good with the bad on Elvis, all stages of life.

First , thanks to the supplier of this segment.
My, oh my, oh my,. Why are there so many negative comments on this interview.......
Please, please, people just be kind to one another, life is too short for this nonsense ...
As for Elvis, he was just being himself...
So what if was wearing $100,000 worth of jewelry , that not showing he's a bad guy...
He could have worn 1 million dollars worth jewelry and clothing too, SO WHAT....
I SAY, IF YOU GOT IT FLAUNT IT, SO WHAT...
A lot of jealous failures out there , I say...
Who will never do anything good with their own pathetic life, because they are honing in on others all their lives....enough said...

Maybe he did use medication for all of us his fans..
Ain't that the reason we still talk about him after 43 years?
I lived for the music and the stage.
His life was one big performance.
And his private problems, his mother passing away ,his divorce that gave him some scares.. some shit to deal
And he had to deal with it.
What would you do to perform and to stand up on a stage and be what people expect you to be.
He will always be the King.
A sensitive man with a big heart and the best entertainer that ever walked this planet.
And we still talk about him even now after 43 years.

There will never be another Elvis! The pressures he had were immense! No one had navigated those waters yet. He was the first! Then when it came to abusing prescribed medication he also was a first. No one realized it back then. He needed rehab but it just wasn’t a topic back then! He was always the first in all things (good and bad)! I feel bad that the pressures got to him. There just wasn’t the help back then or a guide book to navigate such popularity. What amazes me is that as badly as he was addicted (especially towards the end) that he could even form a sentence let alone be onstage remember song lyrics (for the most part once in a while he needed a sheet for the words). But I’m amazed how well he did keep it together for the most part!

I know he did some fantastic shows in 72 but his appearance and speech where changing from that point. I know he got up for the Madison Square Garden shows but his demeanor on the Aloha show was subdued even tho he performed some standout moments. I may read too much into it but for the 1st few numbers he's rubbing his nose and talking voice is shaky...But all things aside hes still the King 43yrs after his death. It really seemed like he was comfortable in his own skin, so to say. He was definitely down in that interview. It is funny that you mentioned his breathing, because I was watching his neck area and when I was watching it, it seemed like his pulse was a bit fast as well as his breathing. He definately was having some problems talking and I did think about that and maybe he just got so tired of having to have those preconcert press conferences and answering the same old questions, or maybe his mind was on something else or it kind of seemed like he was just woken up. What don't we all starting scrutinizing John Lennon and Paul McCartney? For sure they weren't the finest people.Recall that John said the Beatles were more popular than Jesus Christ? Elvis said there was only one king. How many genres could they sing.Gospel?Laughable.Country, etc?Elvis' voice was distinctive.Theirs were not. What about beng physically fit.Elvis was a ninth degree black belt and was gifted in other sports. He had military training. They were always smoking something and if they turned sideways, their entire bodies disappeared. No muscles whatsoever.Elvis was always beautiful even while heavier. The only one at least average was Paul and he has not aged well. I could go on and on.We should remember Elvis for his talent, his generosity, his humanity.Nobody will ever compete in totality of humanity, mult-musical genres(three music halls of fame--no one else but him), his male
beauty beyond comparison, his charisma, captivating smile, his photographic memomory and multti octave voice.I could go on.Elvis had flaws but I believe in not casting stones unless you are perfect. So none of us lived in his shoes.Even after 43 years, by the ill informed comments made here and in other media, people are still jealous of him because they cannot half way measure up.Just appreciate his musical genius, his humanity, and his legacy.May you rest in peace Elvis.

If you ever watch/listen most TV/news reporters they are mainly intelligent articulate interviewers. When the reporter says 'How do you pace yourself'? Elvis understood and answered. The reporter elaborated by then adding 'so that you are up, when you need to be up'. This is not referring to Elvis getting up from bed. This is referring to getting good at what he does. Practising, perfecting his craft in all manner of things. Elvis replies he exercises everyday 'vocally'. I don't think he meant physically, lifting weights and karate . As a superstar singer, sounds reasonable to me even if it was with freinds around a piano.

I agree with most things said about Elvis in the posited interviews. With this being said, we all as human beings have moments where we don’t want to talk with anyone or simply be left alone to our quiet activities. Elvis the same and possibly during interviews other then New York, Madison Square Garden interview, could have been a bad time for Elvis. I know I don’t want to be bothered at times and just want quiet time. And drugs certainly could have played a roll and it’s the drugs that more then likely caused Elvis’s mood to be different. Drugs are called mood altering for reasons and it certainly could have been the reason for Elvis’s obvious different moods displayed in the interviews posted here. I can share these couple things, 1972 when Elvis was approached with this satellite concert idea, he was overweight, and out of shape. After agreeing to do the show, he was on a very strict diet, cleaned up off drugs, went to Hawaii for a 2 week vacation, sober up, get on track escape. This was learned from Joe Espesito, Sunny West, and Red West interviews done in the 1990’s. So in the months leading up to the aloha form Hawaii satellite concert Elvis has lost weight, was free of drugs, and on a healthy diet. He looked fantastic at the aloha from Hawaii satellite concert. Elvis never backed away from a contract he signed, never, not once, did Elvis betray his signed word of a contract. He was offered many roles in movies, offered to do many things that he and/or the colonel turned down, and Elvis was presented everything offered by the colonial regardless of the colonel liked the offer or not and it was entirely Elvis’s decision to agree or not, and yes the colonel would give opinions of business matters but never decide for Elvis, that was always Elvis’s decision. The colonel got a lot of bad press blaming him for making Elvis do this or that, but the truth is, the colonel would much rather take the blame for unpopular decisions then his boy Elvis take it on. This was learned by Sunny West, questions and answers about my friend Elvis Presley. Before watching this awesome video I also assumed the colonel forced Elvis to do things but this simply wasn’t true and Sunny explains this in detail. Also I understand many Elvis fans may dislike Sunny and Red West both have passed away respectively, however if you pursue the truth you will learn just that, the truth, and the truth spoken by their own mouths. It’s up to the viewer to whether you believe them or not and it’s obviously the truth they speak as one couldn’t lie and behave the way both men did during various interviews, it’s an overwhelming truth they speak and when you watch these videos you will know exactly what I mean. When watching people answer or talk about people you judge them in one way or another to whether they are being truthful or lying, and as a result from how they behave and how they react to questions we determine if they lie or if they tell the truth and if unable we put them on a fence of possibly telling the truth or could be lying as well, but with these two gentlemen I never doubted either one. It was overwhelming honesty and truth about a man they both loved very much. And again watch these videos that are available here on youtube and decide for yourselves and I guarantee you you will feel almost immediately the same way I do which is they both express the truth and love for their life long friend, Elvis Presley. To those who don’t know what I am talking about when it comes to Sunny and Red West, they wrote a tell all book about Elvis that was released just 6 days, August 10th, 1977, before Elvis passed away and many fans believe this book contributed to the death of Elvis. This book was done to get Elvis to stop abusing pills. It was a challenge put forth by his closest friends who tried everything they could to get Elvis to stop abusing prescribed drugs to the point of Red breaking the arm of a dealer that Elvis got some of his drugs and the firing of both Red and Sunny for meddling into Elvis’s personal affairs which is to say, attempting often to stop Elvis from abusing drugs. Elvis wouldn’t have anymore of event his closest friends to get him to stop. So this book after the firing of Sunny and red west was a challenge for Elvis to stop thinking once the public and his fans know the truth Elvis will stop, but as addiction goes, one has to want to quit to have any success and we all know Elvis didn’t meet the
Challenge and died as a result just
6 days after the release of the book. There are many possibly unknown things the reader of this comment may not know, and many can be learned by simply pursuing these things online. And hear truths said by the very people who were there to witness and see the truths. Elvis was a addict, like many of people. Many have died from addiction, most unknown to us, but some well
Known like Elvis, Prince, Janis Joplin, Heath Ledger, John Bonham, Judy Garland, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Marilyn Monroe, etc and the list could go on and on, Elvis was a human being, self admitted of course, but human all the same as everyone mentioned on the list, no different then any of us other then having talent that they let known to the rest of us. Addiction has no prejudice, it doesn’t care who you are, what color your skin, whether your religious or a anti believer, addiction will find you and can kill you at a drop of a hat should you allow addiction inside of you, for those who suffer from addiction seek help, decide to stop your chosen path, don’t allow addiction take you away from your loved ones, don’t allow addiction to beat you, beat it and stick around, I sure wish Elvis had done this, as he left so much on the table leaving us at just 42 years old. Wouldn’t it have been awesome to see what the king would have done with his life had he lived!?
