I really FELT disappointed by this video. I was looking for a good way to waterproof a wool felt hat.
This is a rare instance of me using the report feature. It says you are showing “how to water proof a felt hat,” and it rather shows “how to buy a different hat.” That was misleading, and you know it.

Title should be, "Do you need to Waterproof your Felt Hat?"

@@Narrow_Gate_Forge A while back I was considering trying to restore my old George Strait Resistol. Back 20 years ago when I made $275 a week as a farm laborer, it was an expensive hat at $180-or-so. *Supposedly* it's a "fur blend" which *supposedly* means mostly rabbit and some beaver fur. Who knows---Resistol may consider wool to be 'sheep fur.' Anyway, the first time it go soaked, brown dye ran out of it. I let it drip-dry on top of a fence post in the barn and eventually sprayed something on it. I don't remember what it was---probably something for boots.
My idea when clicking on this particular video was to get info about restoring that hat. After years of use it's faded and dirty and needs to be re-formed. If I was going to re-dye it, I wanted to waterproof it. And if I was going to waterproof it, I wanted to do it correctly.
So when I searched CZcams, I searched for videos with names such as "How to Waterproof a Felt Hat: Felt Hats." Crazy, I know.
I did not look for things like, "Do you need to waterproof your very expensive felt hat?" or "Why you DON'T need to waterproof your very expensive felt hat."
This video is as useful as a video entitled, "How to Change Spark Plugs: Dodge, Ford, Chevy Trucks" and then the whole video says nothing but, "There is no need to change the spark plugs in your truck if you bought the more expensive Diesel version since it doesn't use spark plugs. If you have the gasoline engine, you'll need to change your spark plugs. Thanks for watching."
As far as my old hat, I've since changed my mind. I've got other hats and that one---beat up, dirty, misshapen---reminds me of where I came from.

Dear Eric, How come my black 10x Stetson Shasta has seen heavy and long downpours, while my two tan 10x gets a bit swollen where they get wet? Stetson couldnt answer that, so the hats went under the spray.
I hear Nikwax Fabric and Leather is a really good spray to be used on things like wool, cotton, leather etc hats

I have a High quality Stetson which is 5***** and it soaks up water. It is supposed to be european hare and Rabbit felt. Any thoughts?

This is the worst video about hats I've ever wasted time watching. You could have discussed waterproofing wool hats but instead, you bait and switch. I've been shopping for a hatter to make a hat for me, guess who I won't be calling.

Apparently you have never been caught in a downpour. My Stetson gun club got saturated to the point where the dye stained My hair and face. Believe it or not some people actually use them for something other than a fashion statement. If you want to parade around and look pretty that's your business. I actually use mine as an essential piece of equipment.

The title and content of the video are misleading and unhelpful. Simply mentioning you do nothing to a fur felt hat, then showing how to waterproof a wool felt hat would have fulfilled the content the video’s title infers…
