I am a Pakistani and a regular viewer of this channel. Here are some points I want to add to what Andrew said.
The current consideration seems to be inspired from Turkey. So it will likely be a full citizenship if it gets approved. That said, it is true that your religion is definitely a factor when you live in Pakistan. There are pros and cons for being Muslim or non Muslim. I can't say that one is better. And being a Muslim doesn't prevent someone from getting accused of certain things.
As far as the target market is concerned, even the government doesn't have any delusions about inviting Western people. They are aiming this policy mainly at the business owners who are from Afghanistan and already heavily invested in Pakistan.
If you look closely, Pakistanis have been getting foreign citizenship for decades now. People who are born here don't find this country easy to pursue financial prosperity. Why would outsiders think otherwise.
I personally don't intend to give up my current citizenship, but if had the money to hire Andrew's team, I would want to get a second passport at the very least. Our foreign ministry doesn't even try to improve the ranking.

      Yeah you are right
Actually world doesn't know unimaginable profit in Pakistan. And powerful people don't disclose this potential to the rest of world to avoid international competition.
I left UK just to do business in Pakistan. I make millions in just two years.
Hundreds of dual citizens of the UK and Pakistan are doing business here comfortably. Many British and the US Dual nationals are Prime Minister's advisors and they have bigger businesses in Pakistan like zulfi Bukhari (British national)… shehbaz Gill (US National)… and many more.

    • @MCWhiffles
      @MCWhiffles Před 2 lety +3

To be fair the Pakistanis in western countries come from very poor backgrounds which is why they immigrated, my family from F-6 Islamabad loves it there and never wants to leave and they've been to the US and the UK.

@@MCWhiffles obviously the poor people who just want to do labor job, only they will move to the Europe or Arab countries.
I see people in Lahore and Islamabad who came on cycle in these cities, and even after couple of years they buy big cars.
Obviously labor's wage is very high in the Europe.
I just spent 9months in the UK, then I left UK.
The money that I made in just 6months in Pakistan, I need 5 years to make that money in the UK.

Answering your question, outsiders would think otherwise cause different people have different needs. While people from Pakistan leave for higher wages it's not at all uncommon for westerners to take advantage of what the country has to offer. It's these kinds of places where u find the best deals and higher returns

India doesn't allow dual citizenship, so the case is closed there. The Indian passport is not very strong but does not really have global reputation issues as Indians generally enjoy a good reputation overseas. The reason for the passport not being strong is that India is a very large country with a very large population of poor people so countries don't want to take the risk that might arise if large numbers of poorer Indians somehow started travelling overseas.

It is not for someone who wishes to acquire 2nd passport.

  • @mynamename5172

I don't know that I would refuse it if they gave it with zero work on my part, but I wouldn't really want a Uruguayan passport as a naturalized citizen. It is one of two countries on Earth that gives citizenship WITHOUT nationality. For instance, if you are Ugandan and you get a Uruguayan passport, the nationality inside will say UGANDA in big bold letters, sometimes with additional explanatory text like "see page 9". All of that inside your spiffy new Uruguayan passport. Its bizarre and very confusing to customs officials everywhere, even in Uruguay itself so not super useful as a travel document. Uruguay keeps saying they will change this, but they don't seem to be in a big hurry, its been going on for decades.
