As a seven or eight-figure investor or entrepreneur, you probably want to live in one of the safest low-tax countries in the world. So you can enjoy spending your wealth with no concerns about any sort of crime.
Even if it’s just petty theft, it can ruin your day, especially if it was an expensive watch or piece of jewelry that has sentimental value. You can buy the watch again obviously, but it’s still annoying.
If you live in a country where this sort of crime is prevalent, then you are going to want to move to a safe country.
In this video, Andrew shares the safest countries in Latin America.

As an Argentinian I must worn, just because a criminal doesn't kill you, it doesn't mean there is no violent crime. There is a ton of violent crime but the police only pays atention to those that end up in murders. Criminals have learned that if they don't do anything too stupid they will be left alone.

As Chileans planning to leave our country , we have been in Colombia, Bolivia , Paraguay , Uruguay , Peru and Ecuador. This is our experence.
Colombia is dangerous for foreigners. Always at risk. Police is not good. Beautiful country, but safety is the main reason why we as a family discharged from the list. Probably good place for the adventurer man who love living the wild-life ( vida loca)
Bolivia is not for long-term living, public services are low quality as internet , water , electricity, etc , no rules no law. It is a lawless place to live. Police is the worst in LatinAmerica, so corrupt. Also there is a anti-gringo attitude. While being a gringo as tourist everything is fine, but once we are settler the nightmare begins. The government has an special minister called "descolonizadores" what means anti-settlers. Everyone with white skin as croatas are called in a very despective way "inquilinos" what means "teanant"
Paraguay is boring , climate is so hot and some how humid. Nothing to do even in the main capital Asuncion. We are looking for a country with a lot of ammenities
Uruguay is nicer than Paraguay but extreme expensive and somehow a little bit less boring than Paraguay, but at least the Ocean View is a plus.
Peru is affortable , extreme good food, nice neighbourhood in Lima and Arequpa, Cuzco es very safe, etc. The main problem so much shanty-towns in some areas but overall the best option for South America right now. Peru is good for the family with low or middle budget. Living in the highscale neighbourhood is amazing as Barranco or MIraflores in Lima. Cheaper tan Chile or Ecuador.
Ecuador has the best beaches but not safe enough in the coast. Nice place as Loja or Cuenca though, but political unrest never ends. Not as cheap as Bolivia or Peru. It is the pocket version of Peru but someone cleaner.
We are a chilean family (white skin) and are leaving Chile because of rampant crimes, everything is costly and the new communist president is allowing all kind of weird things as liberating 13 criminals because of being leftwing. The future of my country is quite dark. Up to now, Peru is the best from our chilean perspective .

Chile has always had crime (thefts and whatnot), but Chileans say that's worse because of immigration because of increases in high profile types of crime.....in particular car jackings and/or violence in general from thugs in cars. There have been increasingly frequent instances of robberies and car jackings where if you resist, they have no qualms about shooting you. This is still concentrated in Santiago and not very common outside of the big city. Chileans remember when this was uncommon and so often associate this with the presence of immigrants who weren't here 5 or 10 years ago.

There is no monolithic "safe" country. In every nation, there are certain areas that are safer than others. For example, in the U.S. there are very "unsafe" areas such as Detroit, MI or E. St. Louis, MO or Oakland, CA. Then there are places such as Logan, UT, Gilbert, AZ or Portland, ME, which are all very safe. The moral of the story? Don't blindly move anywhere until you've done your due diligence to consider ALL factors (safety, cost of living, climate) affecting your choice of a new location. It only takes a few "bad" areas to drag down any country's overall safety rating.

If you like it peaceful, safe, simple but sophisticated (the only big "noise" is in Punta del Este during Summer months, i.e. December through the end of Carnaval, be it in February or March), even "boring", sometimes, then Uruguay might be interesting. Some 95% of the territory is farm land. I would live in Uruguay without any problem, but I would most likely stay away from Montevideo or Punta del Este, though I like both cities (except Punta del Este does suck during end-of-year holidays...too much people / traffic jams / car crashes due to drunk-driving etc). But that's just me. Probably would look into the countryside (Durazno, Melo, Rivera etc) or along the Atlantic coast (La Paloma, José Ignácio, La Pedrera). If one intends to settle on a farm/ranch, the price per hectare is lower than most of Brazil but more expensive than Paraguay. Bureaucracy has greatly diminished but is still a bit annoying. A good legal consulting office might be of essence (the main reason that takes me to Montevideo once in a while). People are overall very educated / kind / cosmopolitan / willing to help. My 2 cents:
Uruguay: Punta del Este is great but not cheap at all. There are several smaller (but quieter) places in Rocha department.
Chile: Santiago is pretty safe and nice but I would go further south like Puerto Varas (beautiful, quiet, good infra, good food, nature, affordable).
Argentina: big cities would not be the most safe but honestly I don't think they're worse than LA. Some neighborhoods of city of Buenos Aires (like Palermo, Recoleta, Belgrano, Puerto Madero) are really good (try it and see) but I would go to Bariloche.
Panama and Costa Rica: I heard good stuff about them.
Brasil: I would stay away from big cities and go to the north beaches although internet was not so good.
Mexico: good internet and infra but I personally was not worried about criminals but narcs and (surprise) police (believe me they're corrupt af with foreigners).
Peru: the only suitable place to work remotely is Lima, if you move away you will notice the lack of infrastructure immediately.
Bolivia: honestly I don't see how you would work remotely there (been there in La Paz and some other places and do not recommended for work).

@@Unknowngfyjoh I'm glad to hear you had no problems. But it's completely inundated with gangs in their culture, statistics will go up and down, but I would be wholeheartedly shocked if it became the safest in LATAM or one of.
They simply don't have the same culture, stability, laws, ability to enforce them as the anglo countries or rather ones stemmed from the British Empire. In Mexico now w/ partner (native here). The land of the frito bandito as Doug Casey puts it.
Its probably (mexico) most similar to the Wild Wild West days or the hippie days of California in 60s. Now Mexico is unique, but it's still in the region, & what made Dubai and Singapore financial power homes seem to be rule of law. I'm extremely skeptical that given its history, financial vulnerability, culture and current economic situation reliant on massive gangs that it (El Salvador) will attract that reputation. They 'just' made their bond payments.
Cracking down on gangs is surface level stuff, which is fine if you have small exposure or do little trips. But setting up shop, big investments, big properties, land, starting a family, 'very safe' is relative surely. If you go again I'd be interested to hear from more locals from the guy who you were paying in a car. Consider the fact too that you're a money man in their eyes, its not feasible or attractive to fuck with you, but its fair game for locals. Having said that, just like in LATAM, there 'are' very safe areas of El Salvador but everything I just said refers to the entire nation & think over a period of time, things revert to the mean.

Latin America as a whole has been considered unsafe due to the American propaganda. On the other hand they don't considered obvious unsafe countries "too unsafe" simply because the locals speak english.
Mastering the language, anywhere in the world, is always a plus, though doesn't make you immune to violence.
Uruguay is pretty safe, although it has become a drug hub for Europe due to its location on the Atlantic and being close to "producers", and that has created problems with the cartels.
It is not a "boring" country, unless one is looking to live as a tourist who needs constant entertainment. For that there's Punta del Este where you will need to have a lot of money to reside there.
Other than that, local boredom can be minimized if one wants to live in a very cosmopolitan nation.
Do your own research and don't trust the USA version of Latin America, there are many amazing and interesting countries in the region; all of them pose some kind of insecurity.

We do plenty of research on El Salvador. They have not come through with many of the RCBI options promised, but in this case the video refers to a visit in 2015. If we go back to select vendors for any programs they do create, we will gladly update with our new experiences. Until they deliver on RCBI programs, we have no reason to go back.

@@nomadcapitalist What are you talking about? I was referring to the safety of the country. Andrew got that wrong. That is what he was talking about. Why would you refer to a 2015 visit when the current president, who has completely (historically) transformed the country, was not yet in office? He was elected in 2019. If you had done the research you claimed to have done you would have known that. Accuracy matters.

No one moves to Latin America for personal security. There must be some other compelling reasons, such as easy residency, fast track to citizenship, warmer climate, less regulation (e.g. Colombia no regulation on single parent IVF so if you're a gay male you can a single parent), etc.

Brazil amazing country but culture of taxes is ridiculous, ideologies and government power makes everything pretty annoying. When I started to study and understand about taxes in countries, quality of life... I can guarantee Brazilians don't receive great feedback from how much taxes we pay. Certainly live and pay taxes to other countries are way better, that is my road for now!
