I agree with the other poster who said this looks like "adult cradle cap" which is a fungal infection that causes those big dry flaky patches. The most effective treatment you can get over the counter is an antifungal shampoo called Nizoral. It's very drying on the hair strands, but using it 4 or 5 times can actually cure this situation. If you go to the doctor they can proscribe a stronger version of the Nizoral shampoo, but you most likely don't need that. Some of the other scalp shampoos and products will only give temporary relief and will not cure the scalp of the flakes.
I stopped using the medicated shampoo because it dried my hair out pretty bad but I might have to go back to it
It's the oil that's causing you dry patches. Wash you hair good. Put a weave cap on so your locs won't come loose. When your locs are about 50% dry, use a leave in conditioner. Then when your locs are mostly dry, spray your locs and scalp with rose water after that dries, then use a cream moisturizing lotion. Every-day, use your Rose water then either a leave in conditioner or a cream moisturizing lotion, I like using Elasta QP, and drink ALOT of water, 62 oz a day, be patient and you will see a huge difference. Take Care!
You can try tea tree oil for your scalp
Try the TPH rinse. It worked for my daughter who had what I considered adult cradle cap.
By Taraji? And I swear I was just calling it that lol
Yes
Do some hot oil treatments with sunny isles Jamaican black castor oil (dark) do it twice a week
Sadly, I’m allergic to that too
@@odbrittany aw ok sorry, but r u allergic to moringa oil as well?
@@jamicajacobs7927 I've never used it before, I'd have to find some
Try an apple cider vinegar wash
Apple cider vinegar rinse will help soothe your flacky scalp☺️
I tried, it burned 😩 Might have to try again
Seems like you have seborrheic dermatitis... it can be triggered by many things... but try head wraps to help with styling, also you can style over top of starter locs... hat wigs for a quick easy switch up
Your edges look healthy
#MoreHair thank you sugarfoot
Try an aloe Vera plant
Hi try olive oil 🪔 warm. after shampoo.
I’ve found that oil only worsens my scalp condition
Amazon Has Human Hair Loc Extensions For The Low
Try the TPH scalp cleanse, my daughter had what I considered adult cradle cap and it helped tremendously.
I’m not ready for a full head of locs yet but I’ll store that for when I am
Hi Brittany 👋🏾
Have you tried making your own hair oils, hair butter, shampoo from soap nuts, leave in conditioner with water base. I say, this because certain ingredients mixed with other products can cause scalp irritation and dryness. I hope the very best for your hair journey.
@@gwendolync158 thank you so much. I haven’t tried it yet but that’s only out of laziness. I was hoping I’d be able to find something
Im glad you limited your product usage and I get it some home remedies do really work... but you should really go to a dermatologist or a tricologist. Those dry patches left untreated could result in permanent hair loss especially if you are trying to scrape them up or do tight styles over them.
Thanks for sharing tho!!!
I’ve been trying to get an appointment with a dermatologist for months but they’re all booked up months out. I’m still calling. I don’t scrape my scalp anymore because that only makes it worse and I also don’t style it, mainly because of how short it is.
@@odbrittany I'm so sorry you are going thru this. I'm no expert but maybe look at the shampoo, conditioner and oil you are using. Could be an allergic reaction. Make sure you rinse out the shampoo/conditioner really really well too. I made the mistake of leaving a rinse out conditioner on my hair too long that I tried to "deep" condition with (3hr 😑). My scalp was tinder for days lol. Anywho for the time being, some ppl use ACV diluted with water to wash then follow up with a Tea Tree combo, Rosemary, eucalyptus, mixed with a carrier oil. Coconut, baobab etc. Hope you are able to figure it out and that its a simple fix. Bless
You don't look bald to me and if someone say so they are nasty haters
Thank you sugarfoot, I do feel feel bald tho lol
@@odbrittany ok that's good because you're not
Water . Don't use water on your hair
