- Last week I tried a new style on my hair. I am severely limited with what I can with my hair so I figured braiding my own hair couldn’t hurt. Boy was I wrong. I didn’t think the braids were tight but apparently they were tight enough to pull my hair from the root. I experienced hair loss, itching, and sores. I almost started to feel defeated….

I have dermatitis. I use a scalp mist daily and put on a plastic cap with a towel for 20 minutes and it stops the itching daily. This was the what my trichologists told me to do and it works for me until I shampoo every 7-10. I don't put oils, butters or leave in conditioner or deep condition on my scalp. Only the products from my trichologists that are specifically made for the scalp.
I wish you hadnt removed your locs. Perhaps you can try semi free form locs? Meaning you would only manipulate your hair twice or thrice a year, and you will have a more gentle access to your scalp. 😘
Me tooo my hair would’ve flourished by now with the set from three years ago. Right now my hair isn’t healthy enough to start locs. It’s really brittle. If I find a moisturizing product that I can use without flare up on locs I might give it a try.
You helped me with relief for my scalp, Brittney. I now swear by As I Am for seborrheic dermatitis!

@@thehobbymommy1711 yay! I’m happy you found some comfort
Hey sugafoot. Have you tried vegetable glycerin? I can’t put any oils on my scalp without it being on fire! I even bought MCT oil after watching your video but I haven’t even opened it yet.
I just started locs and I needed something to soften my hair and refresh my scalp. My final attempt was glycerin and my hair is soooo soft and my scalp is so happy. I mix glycerin, distilled water, aloe Vera juice and a little rose water (for the smell because I don’t think the rose water does much for my hair). Not sure if it will work for you, but it’s worth mentioning.
Also, I noticed tap water was not for me. So I filled my spray bottle with distilled water instead of tap and I bought a filtered shower head. There are a lot of minerals in tap water that our scalps may not like.
Glycerin is amazing, I’ve just been doing a slow introduction of few products to my scalp because I’m scared of a flare up. I have a filtered shower head too. My hair is just so brittle and I have issue retaining moisture because I haven’t found a product that can lock in moisture without causing a flare up 😩
That Dr dr. Bronner’s Rose soap helps me. Im going to try Donna’s Recipe. Im healing my scalp first though with the oil.
I’ll look into Dr.Bronners. I was so hype when Tab dropped Donna’s Recipe until I realized it has ingredients in allergic to 🤦🏾♀️
@@odbrittany awe fu-wee. Alright, I have it now, after I try this I’ll try, Kaleidoscope for 4 c hair.
@@t1naba1ley oh please tell me how that goes. I don’t know anyone that has tried it.

What about flat twist styles
That could work 🤔
@@odbrittany let’s try it!
I do flat twists, twists or 2 or 3 french braids or finger coils. My trichologists said no more cornrows or box braids for me.
@@marleyhill34 Maybe I should see a trichologist
@@odbrittany worth investigating. Mine are worth the extra money.. More than my stylists! Make sure they check your blood results, use a trichoscope and try non invasive methods first. If they try to sell you products, items should not be more that 15 bucks per 250ml/8oz. My trichologists also do not use grease/petroleum, oil or butter on the scalp. Everything is water based for the scalp.
Stop oiling your scalp. It feeds the yeast. Oil hair when needed. Mist scalp with a few drops tea tree and water in that sprayer to sooth.
Haven’t used oil in a year
