  • Being mindful of negative emotions is one thing, noticing when they disappear is....
Well, have you even thought about this at all?
So what happens after unpleasant feelings disappear; when suffering disappear? Are we able to rejoice in the peace that comes after, that moment of non-suffering?
There are 3 kinds of feelings - pleasant, unpleasant and neutral. People aren't very good at dwelling in happiness but are remarkable at dwelling in suffering, so much that they unknowingly crave for suffering.
When we reflect on the Buddha's lifestyle, we also understand that he was a human being who had to face all kinds of problems. He dealt with drama, slander, life-threatening events and was even insulted by people who asked him for help. Yet he wasn't caught up. Suffering didn't arise in the Buddha because he had no craving for any outcomes. He had no desire for status, praise and fame.
You see, your life isn't that much different from the Buddha's. His career involved teaching a diverse demographic for 45 years.
So how did the Buddha sustained his energy?
