I recently changed my mind about SPIDEY: THE NEW ANIMATED SERIES. Check out my video talking all about it: czcams.com/video/v5boMiJE3D0/video.html
“Everyone loves Spider-Man, right?”
J. Jonah Jameson has left the chat.
Lol
Harry Osborn
CGI aside, I gotta give credit to TNAS for the portrayal of Peter Parker. This is THE most accurate depiction of Lee/Ditko Peter in any media adaption so far, just put in an early 2000s context. The overly mature for his age yet still timid personality, the sophisticated but humble way he carries himself, his vast intellect, his razer sharp wit, and the way you can tell he still has that chip on his shoulder. It really is all there, and I wish there was more credit for that given to this show. What's even funnier is that this was a loose continuation of the 2002 movie AND had Bendis on the project from USM, both properties of which heavily modified early Peter's personality type in their adaptions. To me, Ditko era Peter is so wonderfully complex compared to his later counterparts and his same-continuity self in later years. For as fantastic as Romita's run on the book was, it really focused on the supporting cast's dynamic with Peter rather than Peter himself, and it shows with how the artist change subtlety changed his personality into more of a big-man-on-campus kind of guy. This was brought back in the 80s, but without that lovely intellectual flare that I fell in love with. This is fine, but I really love the xNTx versions of Peter Parker, so I gravitate towards early 616, PS4, TNAS, or any other Peter Parker's like those. INTP Peter is so much more fun to read imo, so maybe that's why I appreciate TNAS more lmao
I absolutely agree with you
Haven't seen the New Animated Series, but this has me interested.
I agree that Ditko leaving the book did cause changes in Peter Parker's personality. Part of what made Peter such a unique personality was the opposite personalities of his initial creators. I still love Lee/Romita (and Conway too) but it is undeniable that there was a shift that never really went away.
Bendis's portrayal in Ultimate actually seems closer to the Ditko era then people give it credit for. Ultimate Peter Parker should be read as his own character, but he shares more of the hotheaded and introverted traits that Lee/Ditko showed.
Love the mbti analysis. How I see it:
Lee/Ditko: INTP with strong Fi access through Ti filter
Lee/Romita: ENFP with strong Se access through Ne filter
Since then, ENFP/INFP (constantly rotating).
Ultimate (comics): Moody INxP. Both Fi and Ti are exhibited at much higher frequency than Fe and Te. Can't really pick which INxP as a result.
Maguire interpretation: ISFP
Garfield interpretation: Ni-Fi INTJ
Holland Interpretation: ENFP
Spectacular Spider-Man: INTP with high Ne.
@@rickrivers2021 Watch it. In my opinion it's the 2nd best series on this list. Unless you like Spidey more than Peter then it's 3rd including the 90s show.
S:TAS is literally right there
"The Spectacular Spider-Man" was supposed to run for five seasons but got cancelled after two due to legal problems between Disney and Sony Pictures Television. Disney buying Marvel messed things up.
People have been wanting the show to make a comeback for more than a *decade* at this point! It's actually not impossible. The '90s X-Men show is getting a 2023 Disney+ sequel show called "X-Men '97" after all. 🤓
Yeha but it won’t be good… Disney will add the bland humor and make it their own thing, look at what they’ve done. Star Wars was imo not a good change, the spider man’s series currently coming out aren’t bad but they aren’t the same. I would love it to come back but they’ll do it for money not for the viewers so it won’t be good
@@rayvfruity8933 They brought back Clone Wars and it felt just as always
@@qwertyzillaofficial2969 oh I agree they did a really good job with the final season not to mention kenobi mando etc. it just feels like Disney has a way to make it into some weird 4 year old comedy or even back down on fighting or action to appease the younger fans. Most things they do are amazing i just feel like it’s almost glorified?
It's good that Disney bought Marvel, it was the best thing that could have happened
But Disney own all of the rights to X-Men 97, spectacular spider man rights are shared between Disney and Sony and it's unlikely Disney would want to have to work with sony when they could just make their own (like they're doing with freshman year) and not share the royalties

I really do liked Spider-Man animated Series from 1994 especially the theme song, but I still wished the writers made one last episode featuring Peter Parker/ Spider Man with Madame Web finding the real Mary Jane and then return to their reality as a proper happy ending instead of leaving the Series as a cliff hanger😒.
Yeah that’s my favorite series I was so invested in the world and the cars gets I just wish we got one more episode with Peter finding MJ

To any people out there, please give this show a chance if you're a spidey fan and a fan of peter parker and his social life balancing with spidey then you have to watch this. I respect your opinion but even though I didn't really care for this show THAT much as a kid, as a teen and adult it's much better. The villains may kinda suck but that's the ONLY bad thing. The writing is great. And the characters feel like college students hanging out.

This should be a pinned comment.
Ultimate Spider-Man is by alot definitely better then Marvels Spider-Man. Marvels Spider-Man and Spider-Man Unlimited should legit be at the very bottom of the list for how shitty they were. Enough said.
I grew up with Spider-Man the animated series, parts of Spectacular Spider-Man and Ultimate Spider-Man and there my personal favorites
I won’t agree that mtv animated show be ranked lower than ultimate Spider-Man cartoon
I'm watching spectacular spiderman and the show is really good I haven't even finished season 1, yet I'm asking for a third season, the show is spectacular pun definitely intended, spectacular spiderman in my opinion is the perfect adaptation of spiderman I haven't finished the hole show but from what I watched so far he is the perfect spiderman and even better than the movies, this guy has consequences for his actions evry single time and thats what I love about the show
Fr they dont dive into the tiny yet hurtful consequences of his double life nowadays as much, and the realism to peters life mixed with perfect portrayals of literally every single character just makes it so perfect
The one thing I liked about Ultimate Spider-Man is how Sandman became a hero
To me, the old 90s animated series just can’t be beat. It’s iconic, and the best portrayal of Spider-Man.
I just can’t get enough of the ultimate Spider-Man. Some episodes were questionable (like the one weird pirate one) but over all it was really good. I would love for another season to see how he is after the graduation and most of the villains good. Over all, the ending was really good. IMO it should be in the top 3 at least. Still good ranking though.
I grew up with spectacular and ultimate spiderman
In my honest opinion Ultimate Spider-man is far better than Spectacular. It gave more character in depth storylines and was not bombarded by romance and tge Osborns. 1994 , Ultimate and PS4 are my top tier favourite spider-men besides Tobey Maguire and Tom. Spectacular Spider-man wasn't that great because everything revolved around one theme , and Norman Osborn wasn't even that great like how in Ultimate Spider-man too
@@shemaiahkallumsebasjian2041 I really like both. Ultimate gave a great story, teammates, and fights. Spectacular was almost like a classic-ish Spider-Man with great fights. I also loved the fights between him and green goblin. They were funny. Sad it ended.
@@shemaiahkallumsebasjian2041 I agree, the designs were better in Ultimate Spiderman too but Spectacular was better just bcz of nostalgia

The 1994 Animated Spider-Man Series was the first cartoon that i found out about Spider-Man. And i absolutely loved the show and thought it was the most best rendition of Spider-Man out there. Everything about it was so good like the theme song, animation, characters, design / visuals and story. The cartoon made Spider-Man into seem like such a unique and powerful character that i thought he was the face of Marvel. But overall the characters in this show are so good especially the villains and Jameson.
After that i think watched clips of various Spider-Man shows but i'm pretty sure at the time i was watching all these shows on CZcams, so it didn't show the full episodes unlike TAS.
Then the second show i watched fully was Ultimate Spider-Man. At first I didn't like how far this story was different compared to TAS's story. Even the show is named after Spider-Man and don't really think he was the main focus of the show, and there wasn't much Spider-Man related things. It was more shield-based. But i didn't mind it they did try incorporate some spiderman things which i did like but i also liked the other marvel stuff like Shield, Dr Doom, The collector, the conquest of champions thing, deadpool, x-men. Which didn't all make sense cause there were a lot of things happening at once. The best part of the show was the spider-verse where we get to see Miles, Spider-ham and the other spidermen including agent venom and iron spider. I also think this was the first Spider-Man thing (show, cartoon, game) apart from the comics to introduce the spider-verse / multi-verse.
These were the only two shows i watched fully until Today. When I tried watching The Spectacular Spider-Man. I never watched this show before because I just saw an image of Peter and was like Noooooo. Idk why, he just looked small and "puny" compared to the other versions of Peter in all the other shows. In TAS he looks very bulky which compliments his Spider-Man costume. But here he doesn't seem like the Peter Parker. But after i watched this vid i gave the show a try. And i'm already in love with it. It's so close with TAS but i have to put it below it, because the characters and story are really good. It's just the visuals and design are kinda lacking even though the atmosphere created makes up for it. The overal visuals are quite plain and aren't too detailed. There are also some design i don't like. Such as the Lizard, Green Goblin. The show has a similar art style to that new tmnt show which aint the best. Also the backup characters feel cooy and pasted with litttle variation.
No way he ranked TNAS under Ultimate, 2017, a few others! I get this is your opinion, but in MY opinion that’s a seriously bad take. It’s one of my personal favourites. Sure, some of the CG is a bit dated, but the animation and lighting are sometimes gorgeous- no other show has portrayed Spider-Man’s speed and agility like this one has. The story is also great-a few episodes are a miss, but for the most part it’s a great series. In summary- you’re wrong about TNAS!
1:42 Dude, if you're going to compare a regular running TV series to an all out animated feature film, you ought to find the quality difference.
Kung Fu Panda has a series now and its animation is noticeably inferior to even that of the original one released in 2008.
A comparison to some other 3D animated regular running TV series would've been more relevant
I love The new animated series from 2003 was my fav along with 1994

I like this list, and the only thing I would change is making the 1994 cartoon my number 1. It's the one I watched the most when it was on and I love everything about it. I grew up watching the 1967 cartoon, and Spidey and his amazing friends, but I really liked seeing 1994 as an adult. I've been a Spidey fan as long as I can remember, so thanks for making this video.
Not THE PIZZA THEME SONG 🥹
The 1994 show was the best.
I have the Spectacular Spider-Man at number 2 on my list. For the simple fact that it was canceled after only 2 seasons and leaving the audience on a cliffhanger. As great as it was, the show was just too short to give any significant closure to spidey fans. We were left to work with what's been given and not what could've been. For those reasons, The Spectacular Spider-Man will forever sit at #2 on my list. This leaves Spider-Man the Animated Series (1994) as the best spider-man show of all time even now after 30 years.

*Spider-Man Cartoons Ranked*
• #5 Spider-Man Unlimited

• #3 Spider-Man: The New Animated Series
• #2 Spider-Man: The Animated Series
• #1 The Spectacular Spider-Man
I'm an original nerd who was 5 years old when the "Amazing Spider-man" aired in 1967. I started following "The Amazing Spider-man" Comics Vol. # 1 in 1969. It's a shame Spiderman cartoons have suffered for one reason or another over the decades. The "Amazing Spider-man" 1967 Series had the original studio Grantray-Lawrence Animation go bankrupt and then Ralph Bakshi who directed the "Lord of the Rings" Cartoon in 1978 and the 1zt X-Rated Cartoon in 1972 "Fritz The Cat" took over the series with Krantz Films and changed the entire format and storylines for the show from centering on Spidey fighting traditional villains and the setting of The Daily Bugle with J, Jonah Jameson, and Betty Bryan to storylines of supernatural, fantasy, and sci-fi. Seasons 2 and 3 of this show are awful and dreadful with Spider-Man swinging through most of the episodes and not doing much. The younger generation rates this show 3rd of the 9 cartoons and the theme 3rd or 4th. If seasons 2 and 3 had been good, this series, no matter what the passage of time, would have been timeless and ranked at least 2nd. The theme to me will always be # 1, even over "The Spider-man Unlimited" theme.
I think 1981's "Spider-man", "Spider-man and His Amazing Friends", 1999's "Spider-man Unlimted", and 2003's "The New Adventures of Spider-man all failed to develop an audience. However, Spiderman Unlimted" was also affected by the Pokemon phenomenon. Unfortunately, 1994-1998 "Spider-man The Animated Series" was affected by the Marvel Bankruptcy, and 2008-2009 "The Spectacular Spider-man was affected by Sony/Marvel Contractual Issues. It's a shame no one at Sony will take a chance and finish the storylines for these two cartoons. I would love to see a "Spider-man The Animated Series" animated movie providing closer to that series and have Greg Wiseman come back and do 2 animated movies where the 1st covers how Gwen and Peter get back together and she's killed off and then a conclusion movie where MJ and Peter get married. In all these years we've never had an animated TV series or animated movie where Peter and MJ get married. Peter marries the water clone in "Spider-man The Animated Series". I'd also like a what-if animated movie where Spidey marries The Black Cat, becomes a successful scientist, and raise the next generation of superheroes. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll see this in my lifetime.
2012-2017's "Ultimate Spider-man" and 2017 to 2020's "Marvel Spider-man were overall terrible and awful animated series. Both series had their moments and a few episodes here and there were good, but overall very forgettable and not rewatchable. I was surprised "Ultimate Spider-man" was renewed for 4 seasons and "Marvel Spider-man" was renewed for 3 seasons. All of the Spider-Man cartoons had some adversity to deal with. Either through bankruptcies, not developing an audience, contractual issues, or some other popular show affecting it. Just think if even one of these animated shows would have ended successfully, how much more popular Spider-man would be these days. If Marvel could write good Spider-man comics with interesting stories and great graphics, Spider-man would be unstoppable. Like I said, I won't see it in my lifetime. I hope today's kids/fans/younger generation gets to see Peter Parker/Spiderman reach his full potential and gets the type of story arc the character deserves.
When I was younger I watched Spider-Man The new animated series
The one in last place and I loved Spectacular Spider-Man
I only clicked on this to figure out which soiderman cartoon I liked as a kid. Hard to do when you haven't really said the names of them aside from spiderman an move past the title of the show in a second.
