Why Ripjaws From Ben10 Sucks

- Ripjaws, with his aquatic abilities and intimidating appearance, may seem like a formidable force at first glance. However, upon closer inspection, it becomes evident that Ripjaws falls short in several key areas, making him one of the weakest links in the Ben 10 lineup.
In this video, we'll dissect Ripjaws' powers and abilities, highlighting their limitations and inconsistencies. From his dependence on water to his lackluster combat skills on land, Ripjaws struggles to hold his own in a variety of situations, making him a liability rather than an asset to Ben Tennyson's team.
But it's not just Ripjaws' underwhelming abilities that make him a lackluster character. We'll also explore his lack of depth and development throughout the series. Unlike other fan-favorite characters who undergo significant growth and evolution, Ripjaws remains stagnant, serving as little more than a one-dimensional stereotype of a "fish out of water."

One of my least favorite aliens since he gets outdone by so many other aliens that can breathe under water.
For real thanks for watching love your content
@@OmniRetro_10 it was a really well done video so my pleasure👽
My editor did a great he's one of the best coudent do it without him 👊
Yeah, like Jetray, who's rarely ever even used underwater, to the point I actually forgot he actually could later down the road.
because its supposed to be an alien creature, not a super hero. thats just how ben uses them.
Kinda reminds me of how Jetray has a cool design but overtime he just became a "Fast Travel" alien.
Everyone also forgets that he was marketed as a water alien But he only appears in water once in the entire france
@@oj1015entire france 🇫🇷
Yeah i think they forget about laser ability
All of Ben's water based transformations get done dirty. Ripjaws, Jetray who only flies underwater once, and Amphibian who had a ton of cool abilities that Ben rarely ever used. It's a shame.
To be fair, it's not Ripjaw's fault that the prototype Omnitrix forgot to give him some water tanks so he could breathe out of water (just like reboot Gwen 10's transformation)
I mean the damn thing forgot to put pants on poor Rath
That's true😆
Rath: LET ME TELL YA SOMETHING JULESASECAS OF THE CZcams COMMENTS! MY SPECIES IS ASHAMED TO GO AROUND BUTT NAKED, BUT RATH IS ASHAMED OF BEING ASHAMED!
But why was that still a problem for both him and Rath when Ben got the definitive Omnitrix?
It still baffled me that Gwen used Ripjaws of all aliens to fight Alien X
The reboot isn't Canon so let that leave in your head
@@Tari_10_Editzit’s a timeline, alternative universe, not the main canon, simple as that
@@Tari_10_Editzthe reboot is canon. That was Evil Ben as Alien X. Alien X was weak because he was unlocked by destroying the Omnitrix. Which Alien X a huge Downgrade.
@@DerwinLipscomb-hm5oi the creator said that the reboot isn't Canon
@@Tari_10_EditzWell the reboot is still Canon. Duncan Rouleau claims the Reboot is canon to the Classic Continuity as an alternate timeline. He also states that it is possible for Classic Ben and Reboot Ben to meet.
You're treating Ripjaws like Aquaman from Justice League. Yes, he does have the problem with being on land for too long, but the other aliens had their specific weaknesses too. Grey Matter just wasn't useful in a physical fight. Heatblast was weak to either water, cold or fire-extinguishers. Ghostfreak wasn't really strong. Cannonbolt was pretty klutzy. And let's not forget aliens that made no sense like Walkatrout.
There are over milion species in the Omnitrix. I'm suprised we didn't get to see less powerful ones earlier. It's more than obvious that not all aliens are so useful and strong.
People really underestimate Aquaman and his true power.
Except Aquaman over time has become more useful than Ripjaws.
There's animals that are generalists and others that are specialists. Both present incredible species that have survived and evolved for millions of years.
Ripjaws doesn't suck as an alien, he sucks in the way alot of you people wanna use him.
It's like picking XLR8 to to lift a truck, or Stinkfly to go underwater, like what do you expect?
I mean he's useful in water at least so I wouldn't say he's entirely useless just because he can't be on land for too long. Plus he has a cool design.
Yeah true just not my favorite alien
I get what you mean, but Ripjaws is still okay to me.
You wanna know which alien sucks? Stinkfly. He became useless after the original series, to the extent that he was basically downgraded to a mistransformation. At least Ripjaws still proved his worth in Ultimate Alien and Omniverse.
There's also that he gets outperformed by later introduced aliens like waterhazard and overflow, both of which can be used underwater and on land, which comes no suprise that in reboot he was replaced by overflow
well that's pretty much every OG alien after the sequel. Alien Force powercrept everyone save for like 5 aliens
the only reason Ripjaws is so underrated is because he's literally the only Piscciss Volann in the franchise that doesnt have a water breather.
bro is mad that a fish can't live without water.
next he'll be mad that fire gets extinguished by water.
That's crazy
In my fanfic called Tari 10
I replaced ripjaws with artiguana
Ripjaws does appear later though
Artiguana is my favorite
What do you mean by other Ben transformations as other characters, aren't they all just Ben?
Surprised you didn't mention the fact that Ben would get other aliens overtime that could be used underwater AND on land.
He sucks because he's so specialized Maybe if they added aspects like he doesn't suffocate, but he just gets physically weaker and weaker to the point where he can't fight would have been a better trade-off. Also it's really odd that they never gave him a breathing brace. Despite brainstorm getting It's the silver thing around Omni tricks.
Yeah omniverse watch is supposed to fix alot of the issues each alien ben has but not ripjaws
@@OmniRetro_10 Yeah, I think it's because whenever he gets older, he needs less water like Magister Patelliday
@@oj1015that makes sense
Ripjaws is so useless that Upgrade can essentially take his place. Like in Krakken and They Lurk Bellow, Upgrade can take over machinery and attack underwater
That's so true
@@OmniRetro_10Yeeeeeeep, RIP Ripjaws lol
It's strange to hear about "Character Development" of the alien transformation, when it's just Ben in another form and most of his aliens don't really have psychological or mental features that affect Ben's character, only few like Rath, Jurry Rigg, Brainstorm, Ghostfreak, Big Chill, most of the time Ben just Ben
*1:32 Gwen 10 as Ripjaws is actually in Alien Xtinction final episode!!!
Yeah minor mistake but I like her ripjaws design
@@OmniRetro_10 Indeed is awesome!
It's a shame that Ripjaws proved to be a rather mostly useless alien as he has a very cool design and in water he's great but being that the series does mostly take place on land he's really not a good addition.
Yep exactly my brother❤
Ripjaws is a bit more than just "the waterbreathing alien" he has monstrous bite that can rip through solid steel, thats not something Fourarms has (scratch that, maybe Fouramrs can bite through solid steel ), thats not something Waterhazerd has
Not gonna lie. I would've replaced rip jaws in the original 10 with either cannonbolt or way big. Both of them are more useful and iconic then rip jaws.
Waybig would have made Ben Way too OP early on which would definitely make his other aliens less significant. Cannonbolt's charm in being the 11th Alien fits better because Ben didn't know there were more than 10 aliens in the Omnitrix, and it's hilarious to see him figure out his powers.
Also it makes his debut less significant since he was the only alien that could stop The Big Tick whereas his other aliens couldn't.
There would be no water episodes without Ripjaws
Sad part: Water Hazard and Amphibian already surpass Ripjaws
So true
His design is very cool and aliens shouldn't be always all powerfull and versitile, some aliens just have a specific utility ans that's it, humans for exemple are good at long distance running compared to other animals, outside of that you wouls pick another critter
Yeah ripjaws really sucked his only memorable moment for me was the episode where Ben broke the Omnitrix top which caused his aliens to fuse and at the climax he turns into ripjaws with heat blasts arms
Funny thing is, he is my favorite alien.
Imo, after the first season from classic, Ripjaws just became a joke alien, simillar to Grey Matter. With Ben unlocking new aliens and the restrictions that Ripjaws have, he just became the funny mistransformation alien. While Gray Matter was creative, Rpijaws was still limited as a joke alien. Its sad that he didnt appeared in S3 and only had small and non-serious appearances S4

New ben 10 channel? You son of a beach, I'm in! 🎉❤
Yep I do a ben10 rewatch podcast and ben10 vids here or there I also do little pixel animation so thanks for the sub
He's basic niche, like every other classic alien. One can't compare Ripjaws to Jetray or anyother swimmer for matter cause their not in the same playlist. Yes he's useless on land but you know Heatblast is useless in water(on a planet thats 2/3rds water), Upgrade is useless with magnets, Fourarms is useless in cramped spaces, Greymatter size makes him vulnerable, Stinkfly is useless wet, XLR8 can be knocked off his feet mid speed, Diamondhead can fracture to sonic blasts, Wildmutt can only see through his thermal gills. Each alien has a krutch thats why they have variety in Ben 10. After Classic Greymatter isn't used much cause theres already Azmuth, just as Plumber Pilatdae has more appearances than Ripjaws himself, and Stinkfly is overshadowed in flight by classic aliens like Heatblast, and thats Stinkfly main department. but people continue to love stinkfly just for his design(as I do ripjaws). As for originality Ripjaws is one of the best designs actually even if thats opinion biased the gimmick is to look alien so that every variety is marketable.
But please note thisn't a hate comment its your channel and making videos takes time and love to do, its just it is biased video when other aliens like Stinkfly, and Greymatter fall into this rule too.
Hey its all good
On a power level scale, he sucks no doubt, but in my book he holds merit for his design in the original series being about mythological creatures and folklore in tandum with aliens, the original series did alot more then just aliens. There was zombies, mutants and even magic was kinda its own thing. Ripjaws to me is the series trying to play into that by making an iconic fishman monster into some sort of alien, which brings his lore and story potential up by quite alot.
His problems arent rooted in him sucking on a power scale level but they didnt grab enough at his potential as an alien.
Yep exactly
If only they gave him a weapon like calling whales or something cool
Or a weapon
honestly one of the aliens i have the softest spot for. great points though, well done.
Thank u
One suggestion make thumbnails like this one one character and one text 😅 make me curious to click hope it will help you in long run 🎉
its an alien species not a superhero

Ripjaws mewing all the time idk what ur talking about
Awesome design not useful when it outside water
I don't think ben 10 verses the universe was the right one thats when waybig first appears
Yeah little error on my part
Haven't seen the specials in a while
@@OmniRetro_10 it's ok it was an awesome video
get away from my boy ripjaws even he is useless
Never 😆
Rip jaws cool
Not to use this as a cop out for the writers, as you could say this for any alien, but they're exactly that, aliens. As we saw in UA, Ripjaws' homeworld is a water world, with hardly any land. So yeah, it makes sense for him to be almost fully adapted for an aquatic lifestyle and combat. Plus, in my opinion, a drawback makes him just as unique as any extra ability could. Sure he sucks at on-land combat, but Greymatter sucks at physical combat. The aliens all have their ups and downs, which is important to telling varied stories.
U are right just my opinion homie
Yep exactly
