Holy crap! For $6,500 without optic it better be a tack driver!! I quickly built a rifle with normal stuff like a cf barrel in 300prc and my total was over $8k!!! $130 for 20 rounds of their ammunition....... did these guys once work for Gunwerks and bring their pricing with them? But hey they do offer financing lmao!! This same level of accuracy can be had for $4k or less all day every day.
They are certainly not cheap and not for everyone for sure, but it is a quality rifle out of 40 loads tested not a single group exceeded 1 MOA all were 5 shot groups. That kind of accuracy is pretty impressive. We thought it made for a great platform to test the 6mm Creedmoor and really see what good loads could do in this rifle. Awesome shooting! The twin ejectors on that bolt really fling that brass like a semiauto, that's awesome!! That's a sweet rifle!!! I have 2- 243win. so I understand, 6mm Creedmoor or not? I found a Savage 12 unfried take off barrel in 6mm Creedmoor & rebarreled one of my 243 rifles. My 243 that I still have is a Criterion 30" 1-8twist, shooting 105A-max's 43grs. of RL 22 @ 2900fps. 6mm Creedmoor 26" 1-8twist shooting 105BTHP 43grs of StaBall 6.5 @ 3150fps. I'm burning the same amount of powder but getting 150fps. more out of the 6mm Creedmoor!! My PB with the 6mm Creedmoor .025" 5shoot group, it will shot .50"MOA groups all day long. Great video. I am just getting into the 6 creedmoor now and am gathering components as I type this. I have a MPA build at my FFL awaiting Mr nix😂 approval. But 200 pieces of Alpha brass and bunch of h4350 and varget all ready. Cci 41 srp. 110 a tip and 108 hunting bergers awaiting. Cant wait to hit the range to break her in with some factory fodder.

The bench is a Konig Jager super bench and sadly the company is no longer in business these days we refer others to Stukey's Sturdy Shooting Benches as a replacement they are high quality and portable as well. 6,000+ US dollars for a hunting rifle only, not even including the optics??? No thanks!!!!! I'm already getting consistent .53 moa 5 shot groups from my "off the shelf" Remington 700 with my handloads. With the best groups coming in at .31 moa. I glass bedded the action, and hand lapped the barrel myself. Super easy work that can be done over a single weekend. There truly must be a sucka born every minute.
These rifles certainly are not built for everyone, and if you know what you are doing I have no doubt about the Remington 700s being great actions and accurate rifles. One of my Custom Rifles was built on a Remington 700 action and it's a tack driver. However it is nice to see a company make a quality product and it made for a great platform to test some loads in and see just how good the loads were and not have to worry about the rifle being picky or Etc. If you pick up a copy of the latest (Spring Varmint Rifles and Cartridges) magazine there is a photo of a 100 round group that measures right around .8 MOA and it's across 20 different loads many different bullets and powders. So really what you are paying for is that consistency. Probably something that should have been explained more in the video. @@HandloaderTV Yes that's true. You're paying the extra for consistency across many potential loads. For me though, prices like that will always be WAY too high for me to consider. Just because I understand the value of my dollars and the time and effort it took to earn it AND knowing that I can do the work myself. :) I do appreciate your willingness to allow debate on your channel about such things. Many Gun tuber channels will just hide your comments from view and censor you if you post an opposing viewpoint even in the slightest. They'll go so far as to mock and insult you while they do it knowing that you can't respond again. It's about the lamest tactic there is I think. :)

There is no shame in that, If I didn't do this for a living there I probably wouldn't have one of these rifles either. It is my pleasure, I have yet to block anyone on this channel and that is in spite of having many rude folks comment. I have threatened it once when there were literally no other options left, I actually had folks email me asking me to block him lol but he quit his shenanigans and all was well. I think it adds a lot of value to the comments section to hear from others and get different opinions on rifles, loads, cartridges etc. As long as I am doing this that will never happen. Just finished my 6mmARC build, shot some hornady black ammo and was zeroed in less than 10 shots. Reloaded some 85gr controlled chaos and now need to test those rounds. Can't wait to put coyotes down with this setup. Where do you hunt pigs in CA? I'm in CA too. Great videos sub added. 👌🏼
I am a huge fan of the 85 grain controlled chaos bullets they simply work wonderfully, Lehigh makes some outstanding products! We are actually in Arizona so we don't have much for Pig or Hog hunting I usually have to go out of state for that unless you count javelina that we have a decent amount of and I enjoy hunting those with handguns. I apologize for that mix up that was in fact a 103 grain ELD-X bullet not a 108 they are so close it's easy to get those mixed up when you are shooting hundreds of each! Sadly it is a Konig Jager and as far as I know they are no longer in business these days we recommend Stukey's Sturdy shooting benches as an alternative they are very nice, sturdy to shoot benchrest off of and are also portable. Believe it or not I did not change the seating depth, that was simply a little variance in the load itself and conducting a more statistically significant sample size showed that. The average for that load was right around .45 MOA for 30 rounds. The best target at .35" and the worst was around .60" if memory serves me correctly. That is one reason to always confirm your loads and make sure that your .35" group wasn't just statistical noise so to speak. It also certainly helps to have a good test platform such as this AllTerra Rifle. Great question though thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment! --Jeremiah

Well, whoever did it first, I guess, either way, nobody has cared to mention it in everyday conversation until hornady did their podcast.😉 Yeah, this groups gets bigger the more shots you take knowledge has been around for a long time. All joking aside, I don't totally agree with some of the stuff Miles and the balistician said on either of their podcast. On their follow up episode, they make all the same claims but then go on to say, well, f-class and benchrest shooters might benefit from a full on load development, i.e. primers, seating depth, powder charge etc... It was definitely a poor execution of presenting the facts. Anyway, thanks for the videos, I really enjoy them and can't wait for the next cartridge and rifle. Any chance you'll dive deeper into load development to see how much better you can make them? Maybe you could incorporate some statical information. Maybe a video version of that article you mentioned above.
@@reloadingfun ha ha We did all the way back then, folks like to chase the next thing and they forget easily there wasn't social media to constantly give folks anxiety about what doesn't work and what does work. The key takeaway is validate your loads by sample size, shoot 5 groups of 5 and if it's consistent chances are you have a very good load. If you can read between the lines a little bit on what they were saying you can get the point they are trying to make. Overall I think they did a decent job explaining their primary point but some of the anecdotal points could have been better articulated. There can certainly be benefit from finding proper powder charge weight and good case fill ratios for the powder. That is essentially what we do for all of our videos where we are conducting load development. I would say you can generally speaking tweak powder charges to achieve nearly the same thing as seating depth. However there are a lot of variables that come into play in that scenario as well particularly Ogive design for the bullet you are using. Perhaps we should do a video series on load development and what we do and present some of the other options as well start to finish using different methods. I don't think anyone has really done that as far as I know. You are very welcome!! Thank you so much for watching, we greatly appreciate it along with the feedback. We want to cover what folks are interested in. We have a load development on 5.56 in the works currently and should be the next big rifle video we do. I think the load development would be fun and informative, select one accurate rifle we have a baseline for and try a couple of different methods for load development with it and see what we can come up with. It is not a cheap setup that is for sure I believe they start out at around 6K, and go up from there depending upon the options you want. I would say the quality and performance is on par if not better than Gunwerks though if that gives you an idea on the pricing. They have a really nice build a rifle location on their website that is fun to play around with. I think this particular one was valued at 8K once it was all said and done so certainly not cheap but it made for a great platform to test loads in and see just how good the loads actually were. The groups were very satisfying it was actually hard to pick targets for this video as there were so many good groups to choose from. These days as a substitute we recommend Stukey's sturdy shooting benches they are portable and very very sturdy. I shot my first group in the .0s off of one of those benches. Hello, Jeremiah! Very nice gun, fabulous shooting. But that muzzle brake... Have you ever considered trying to measure the noise level, with and without the brake installed? And since I'm on this pedestal, while I am sure the recoil was acceptable, it's a very subjective thing to try to relay to the masses (us). You have a wide audience, and what is acceptable to one might be extremely uncomfortable to another. Since you're doing all this number crunching and you have the information anyway, why not compute the recoil, also? Just a thought...
Hi there, great question and comment thank you for taking the time to write that out. We have considered measuring the noise difference with suppressors but have never gotten around to doing so. Also we have considered doing it for muzzle brakes as well but the equipment to do it properly is rather expensive and it would be a little labor intensive to set up and there are already plenty of folks doing a good job of measuring the noise levels of suppressors. I will say this when I shot this rifle with only a over the ear muffs as seen in the video the noise level was not uncomfortable and recoil was quite pleasant. Most good brakes do a good job of directing the noise and blast away from the shooter. This is great for the shooter but unpleasant for the guy sitting next to him. To be honest I did not like Brakes until I started shooting hundreds of rounds a day testing various guns. Now to answer the second part of your question that one is a little more complicated, You can run the match on a rifle without a brake easy enough. That is not hard to do at all you have a projectile weight, velocity and energy at the muzzle, weight of the rifle those all follow basic laws which can be calculated our easy enough. However the addition of a brake or suppressor greatly complicated that recoil equation. Currently we do not have a really good way to measure that recoil on rifles. However I do have some things in the works to measure it in pistols locked into a Ransom Rest. Thanks to the consistency of the Ransom Rest it lends itself well for measuring felt recoil and comparing different loads. However comparing it in different handguns again gets a little more tricky because every handgun is different and not all of them sit in the exact same location in the Ransom Rest. However for testing reduced loads there are plans to test those and get some real world data collected. Great question and we greatly appreciate the feedback and suggestions, please keep them coming! If we can get enough interest in the subject perhaps we can justify purchasing some force gauges and measuring felt recoil. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! --Jeremiah

Having been on the wrong end of a gun with a brake and feeling the hot gasses on my arm and face more than once from the guy next to me, I'm a tad touchy about the subject. But I can understand how repeated shooting without one could get tiresome. Maybe this will degenerate down to another campfire debate that never gets resolved but keeps us talking forever, like the big bore/small bore arguments of Keith and O'Connor legend.
@@williamkaiser8067 I can understand that, I have been in the blast zone of guns with brakes as well and they certainly are not fun to be around. However, they are fun to shoot provided you have adequate hearing protection. I think the trade off is more than worth it with some cartridges and completely ridiculous in others, 6mm Creedmoor is certainly riding the line, for competition purposes I would say it's worth it. I am sure it's debatable but so long as it's based on fact and practicality I welcome all the debate I think it helps us grow learn and educate. Thank you for taking the time to comment! We currently are unaware of anyone who has pressure tested 10mm +P data ourselves included. SAAMI has set maximum pressure at 37,500 PSI we have plenty of loads that approach that figure but none that exceed that figure. Currently there is no standard for +P 10mm ammunition and until there is I would advise against going over the 37,500 PSI pressure standard the gains you would achieve versus the wear and tear and potential damage to the firearm just doesn't seem to make sense. With proper powder selection you can stay under that 37,500 PSI figure and still push a 180 grain bullet to 1,350 FPS. Which is quite impressive all things considered we do have data for that on our loadData website if you wanted to check that out. The Ruger American Predator rifles are nice and they do shoot good, I actually one one myself. With that said there really is no comparison between the two. Across 20 different loads and 100 rounds of ammunition firing 5 shot groups this rifle was capable of holding a 1.4 MOA or less group with human error that is extremely impressive and I know for a fact there is no way my Ruger American could do that. There is an article in our Varmint Rifles & Cartridges magazine detailing this and showing a picture of the group. All in all this rifle is extremely impressive the quality and consistency and tolerances this rifle is held to is on a completely different field compared to the Ruger American. I really don't think it would be a fair comparison. Also as noted in the video we had 30 round groups fired in 5 shot strings group into .5 MOA, once again my Ruger American can do that consistently like this rifle did. This is not to say that the Ruger is a bad rifle or anything like that simply that they are on two very different ends of a spectrum. Now is the cost versus gain for the average shooter worth it, no probably not unless you were competing or were truly looking for an edge and were willing to pay for it. However most goals and practical shooting could be accomplished by the Ruger American so I get what you are saying. To be clear though these rifles are not even close to being comparable in terms of consistency, accuracy and quality. Just because I understand the value of my dollars and the time and effort it took to earn it AND knowing that I can do the work myself. :)
I do appreciate your willingness to allow debate on your channel about such things. Many Gun tuber channels will just hide your comments from view and censor you if you post an opposing viewpoint even in the slightest. They'll go so far as to mock and insult you while they do it knowing that you can't respond again. It's about the lamest tactic there is I think. :)
@@Rico11b Indeed, and as I stated these rifles are certainly not for everyone and I think it is great that there are folks out there who are accurizing rifles themselves. There is no shame in that, If I didn't do this for a living there I probably wouldn't have one of these rifles either. It is my pleasure, I have yet to block anyone on this channel and that is in spite of having many rude folks comment. I have threatened it once when there were literally no other options left, I actually had folks email me asking me to block him lol but he quit his shenanigans and all was well. I think it adds a lot of value to the comments section to hear from others and get different opinions on rifles, loads, cartridges etc. As long as I am doing this that will never happen. This is a place where folks can come to learn and glean from others experience. I wouldn't be the handloader I am today if it wasn't for others sharing their knowledge and opinions with me. There is no reason we can't have a cordial debate or chat here in the comments section. It is for that reason I think we have the best subscribers and comments section in the firearms industry. Just finished my 6mmARC build, shot some hornady black ammo and was zeroed in less than 10 shots. Reloaded some 85gr controlled chaos and now need to test those rounds. Can't wait to put coyotes down with this setup. Where do you hunt pigs in CA? I'm in CA too. Great videos sub added. 👌🏼
I am a huge fan of the 85 grain controlled chaos bullets they simply work wonderfully, Lehigh makes some outstanding products! We are actually in Arizona so we don't have much for Pig or Hog hunting I usually have to go out of state for that unless you count javelina that we have a decent amount of and I enjoy hunting those with handguns. Sadly it is a Konig Jager and as far as I know they are no longer in business these days we recommend Stukey's Sturdy shooting benches as an alternative they are very nice, sturdy to shoot benchrest off of and are also portable. When you were doing the testing off camera with sw4350, did you ever change seating depth? If you did, was that when you got the smaller groups?
Believe it or not I did not change the seating depth, that was simply a little variance in the load itself and conducting a more statistically significant sample size showed that. The average for that load was right around .45 MOA for 30 rounds. The best target at .35" and the worst was around .60" if memory serves me correctly. That is one reason to always confirm your loads and make sure that your .35" group wasn't just statistical noise so to speak. It also certainly helps to have a good test platform such as this AllTerra Rifle. Great question though thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment! --Jeremiah

Yeah, this groups gets bigger the more shots you take knowledge has been around for a long time. All joking aside, I don't totally agree with some of the stuff Miles and the balistician said on either of their podcast. On their follow up episode, they make all the same claims but then go on to say, well, f-class and benchrest shooters might benefit from a full on load development, i.e. primers, seating depth, powder charge etc... It was definitely a poor execution of presenting the facts.
Anyway, thanks for the videos, I really enjoy them and can't wait for the next cartridge and rifle. Any chance you'll dive deeper into load development to see how much better you can make them? Maybe you could incorporate some statical information. Maybe a video version of that article you mentioned above.
@@reloadingfun ha ha We did all the way back then, folks like to chase the next thing and they forget easily there wasn't social media to constantly give folks anxiety about what doesn't work and what does work. The key takeaway is validate your loads by sample size, shoot 5 groups of 5 and if it's consistent chances are you have a very good load.
If you can read between the lines a little bit on what they were saying you can get the point they are trying to make. Overall I think they did a decent job explaining their primary point but some of the anecdotal points could have been better articulated. There can certainly be benefit from finding proper powder charge weight and good case fill ratios for the powder. That is essentially what we do for all of our videos where we are conducting load development. I would say you can generally speaking tweak powder charges to achieve nearly the same thing as seating depth. However there are a lot of variables that come into play in that scenario as well particularly Ogive design for the bullet you are using. Perhaps we should do a video series on load development and what we do and present some of the other options as well start to finish using different methods. I don't think anyone has really done that as far as I know.

How much for that setup? That is a beautiful rifle and I'd love to have one in a 6mm creedmoor. I won't buy one, but it's sweet looking.
It is not a cheap setup that is for sure I believe they start out at around 6K, and go up from there depending upon the options you want. I would say the quality and performance is on par if not better than Gunwerks though if that gives you an idea on the pricing. They have a really nice build a rifle location on their website that is fun to play around with. I think this particular one was valued at 8K once it was all said and done so certainly not cheap but it made for a great platform to test loads in and see just how good the loads actually were. The 6mm Creedmoor is an interesting cartridge. A slightly better version of the great .243 Winchester.

The groups were very satisfying it was actually hard to pick targets for this video as there were so many good groups to choose from. The bench is a Konig Jager Super Bench, I sadly don't think they make the bench any longer or at least I have not seen one for sale in many years. These days as a substitute we recommend Stukey's sturdy shooting benches they are portable and very very sturdy. I shot my first group in the .0s off of one of those benches. Hello, Jeremiah! Very nice gun, fabulous shooting. But that muzzle brake... Have you ever considered trying to measure the noise level, with and without the brake installed? And since I'm on this pedestal, while I am sure the recoil was acceptable, it's a very subjective thing to try to relay to the masses (us). You have a wide audience, and what is acceptable to one might be extremely uncomfortable to another. Since you're doing all this number crunching and you have the information anyway, why not compute the recoil, also? Just a thought...
Hi there, great question and comment thank you for taking the time to write that out. We have considered measuring the noise difference with suppressors but have never gotten around to doing so. Also we have considered doing it for muzzle brakes as well but the equipment to do it properly is rather expensive and it would be a little labor intensive to set up and there are already plenty of folks doing a good job of measuring the noise levels of suppressors. I will say this when I shot this rifle with only a over the ear muffs as seen in the video the noise level was not uncomfortable and recoil was quite pleasant. Most good brakes do a good job of directing the noise and blast away from the shooter. This is great for the shooter but unpleasant for the guy sitting next to him. To be honest I did not like Brakes until I started shooting hundreds of rounds a day testing various guns.
Now to answer the second part of your question that one is a little more complicated, You can run the match on a rifle without a brake easy enough. That is not hard to do at all you have a projectile weight, velocity and energy at the muzzle, weight of the rifle those all follow basic laws which can be calculated our easy enough. However the addition of a brake or suppressor greatly complicated that recoil equation. Currently we do not have a really good way to measure that recoil on rifles. However I do have some things in the works to measure it in pistols locked into a Ransom Rest. Thanks to the consistency of the Ransom Rest it lends itself well for measuring felt recoil and comparing different loads. However comparing it in different handguns again gets a little more tricky because every handgun is different and not all of them sit in the exact same location in the Ransom Rest. However for testing reduced loads there are plans to test those and get some real world data collected.

Having been on the wrong end of a gun with a brake and feeling the hot gasses on my arm and face more than once from the guy next to me, I'm a tad touchy about the subject. But I can understand how repeated shooting without one could get tiresome. Maybe this will degenerate down to another campfire debate that never gets resolved but keeps us talking forever, like the big bore/small bore arguments of Keith and O'Connor legend.
@@williamkaiser8067 I can understand that, I have been in the blast zone of guns with brakes as well and they certainly are not fun to be around. However, they are fun to shoot provided you have adequate hearing protection. I think the trade off is more than worth it with some cartridges and completely ridiculous in others, 6mm Creedmoor is certainly riding the line, for competition purposes I would say it's worth it. I am sure it's debatable but so long as it's based on fact and practicality I welcome all the debate I think it helps us grow learn and educate. Thank you for taking the time to comment! Does Handloader have 10mm +p load data?
We currently are unaware of anyone who has pressure tested 10mm +P data ourselves included. SAAMI has set maximum pressure at 37,500 PSI we have plenty of loads that approach that figure but none that exceed that figure. Currently there is no standard for +P 10mm ammunition and until there is I would advise against going over the 37,500 PSI pressure standard the gains you would achieve versus the wear and tear and potential damage to the firearm just doesn't seem to make sense. With proper powder selection you can stay under that 37,500 PSI figure and still push a 180 grain bullet to 1,350 FPS. Which is quite impressive all things considered we do have data for that on our loadData website if you wanted to check that out. Lol. You can buy a Ruger Predator, drop in a Timney and youre only out $700... save $6000 and shoots tiny groups too.
The Ruger American Predator rifles are nice and they do shoot good, I actually one one myself. With that said there really is no comparison between the two. Across 20 different loads and 100 rounds of ammunition firing 5 shot groups this rifle was capable of holding a 1.4 MOA or less group with human error that is extremely impressive and I know for a fact there is no way my Ruger American could do that. There is an article in our Varmint Rifles & Cartridges magazine detailing this and showing a picture of the group. All in all this rifle is extremely impressive the quality and consistency and tolerances this rifle is held to is on a completely different field compared to the Ruger American. I really don't think it would be a fair comparison. Also as noted in the video we had 30 round groups fired in 5 shot strings group into .5 MOA, once again my Ruger American can do that consistently like this rifle did. This is not to say that the Ruger is a bad rifle or anything like that simply that they are on two very different ends of a spectrum. Now is the cost versus gain for the average shooter worth it, no probably not unless you were competing or were truly looking for an edge and were willing to pay for it. However most goals and practical shooting could be accomplished by the Ruger American so I get what you are saying. To be clear though these rifles are not even close to being comparable in terms of consistency, accuracy and quality.
