Other than to parallel the comic storyline, why do you think Steve Rogers hitting the Time Stone transported everyone to 1602 in particular? Do you think I’m reaching with the theory that Loki picked it to return to the era of Shakespeare?
Definitely reaching.
He probably visited earth around that time as a kid and watched theater.
i remember sheldon mentioning 1602 in tbbt but that its been about mutants send back in time and that everyone thought their witches
If everyone was transported to 1602, why was Steve the only one the time stone called out? The rifts were being caused because he was the anomaly, much like the spiderman ones.
Not reaching. Quite loved that perspective actually.
One of my favorite parts of this episode was Jon Favreau clearly having the time of his life with Hogan's over-the-top Elizabethan pomposity.
Facts
Loving him in What If
I love how halfway through the fight, Happy's non-stop talking pissed off Hulk more that than the violence of the fight itself.
I was so happy to see Wanda again. Just for a short time. I also loved seeing Thor and Hela having good relationship.
I do wonder how Thor & Hela have a good relationship here
The way Loki keeps talking about plays, I'm of the belief that he's the secret ghost writer for Shakespeare. He doth project too much his admiration.
I head canon this now ty
That would be interesting. I mean if he could be cooper
Surprised it wasn't mentioned that Tom Hiddleston has played Hamlet, in a production where he was directed by Thor director Kenneth Branagh (who has also done his own Hamlet). Branagh actually recommended Hiddleston to audition for Thor because they'd been in a stage play together before.
6:28 but I think that the reason why Peggy is aware of The Watcher is actually due to the fact that the two of them interacted last season had has nothing to do with Infinity Ultron becoming aware of The Watcher in season one
I don't think he's saying that the reason Peggy sees the Watcher is the same reason Ultron Infinity did. He's just saying that Peggy sees the Watcher, just like Ultron Infinity saw him, just like Strange Supreme sees him, all three for different reasons.
I like how Loki went to support Wanda at the end. Two sorcerers who have given everything. Made me wonder what their relationship was.
THISSS
I honestly cant believe that they didnt include Hawkeye in this episode it is the perfect time period for him to be represented in, they could have easily slotted him in as one of Rogers' merry men
Would be odd for the person known for his archery have to take a backseat to Robin Hood
Bucky mentions him when he's shooting at Happy - "Barton sends his regards". I took that as perhaps Hawkeye had been killed by Happy sometime beforehand. Maybe Rogers took over as their leader?
@@laundrybfunky He says Barnes not Barton
@@nanayawagyei9424 Ooohh that makes way more sense, thanks
Hard disagree.
I was especially glad to see our jacked Steve Rogers almost pair up and fight side by side with jacked Peggy Carter.
Yes!
you could say they were
a Jacked Union
I REALLY LOVED the fact that all the voices are w/the characters. Really wish Chris Evans & Rob Downy voiced their parts. The ones doin em tho are doin an amazin job…
I love that so many actors are returning to voice their characters!
Really just makes the series even more cherished
Best part was the scene Thor being more of a Drama Queen than Loki
And Loki was flattered
And loki be like : Bless💅🤣
Captain Carter was unfairly blamed by Thor for what happened to Hela. Peggy was essentially kidnapped by Wanda to help their reality. Peggy's not magical.
My exact thoughts this entire episode. What tf did they expect a goddamn super soldier with no kind of magical abilities whatsoever to do in the first place?
When it comes to Thor, he isn't usually the brightest of the bunch...
@@rodericklep2858 that's just for the female captain America to shine, no other reason.
@@aewenfuin668 fish out of water kind of person.
I feel like that was the point tho, the point is that it's unfair
I liked that Loki wasn't an antagonist in this episode. It seemed like he was in on the plan, thus him not joining the fight and then protecting Wanda
I would really love for a sequel of 1602 ,but with fantastic four, and mutants to be included.
Gimme
YES!
6:46 I think the Watcher meant he’s seen millions of universes perish.
hes definitely referring to that
He says I’ve watched millions fade right after saying worlds die every day, he’s absolutely talking about millions of worlds
Was it just me who saw that there was a scene where loki held Wanda and like they had a moment or something but it was really great seeing Wanda in a better place mentally ❤
I loved that.
I like how they payed off hulk fighting hulk hogan from the last episode.
That character will forever be Hulk Hogan
@@seanj3667its actually The Freak from the comics but yea Hulk Hogan absolutely should be the mcu name lmao
you know the comic has Queen Elizabeth I, and this episode has Hela as queen. which is played by cate Blanchett who also play Queen elizabeth I . :D
I definitely loved this episode. Just to the Avengers living in a different time period was surreal.
THANK YOU JESSICA! We appreciate your hard work and we all want you to rest and heal
I absolutely loved this episode! I understand this is only an adaptation of the 1602 comics in name for the most part but this proved to be incredible proof of concept episode in my opinion. Keeping it grounded in the established MCU while giving you that 1602 twist worked really will in my opinion! It was awesome to see our heroes and what they could have been if they were from a different era. Like almost every episode my only real issue was it was way too short because these ideas are so good and executed so well I wish we got more time with them like a full length television series or movie but nevertheless I really loved this episode! 9.5/10!
Excellent
My head cannon is that the Christmas episode was fused with 1602 and that's why Hogan turns into the freak
That’s mine as well, there were no details saying it couldn’t be
Yeah, it’s entirely possible that the Infinity War battle that created this 1602 reality was in the same universe as the Christmas episode with Hulk Hogan
Definitely my favorite episode right there with avengers formed in 1980’s
I absolutely love this episode easily, my favorite what if episode I really cannot wait to see more of agent Carter because Haley Atwell is killing it!
This may be my inner Neil Gaiman fan reaching, but I think Scott's mention of the dance macabre at 12:57 is a smaller, subtle Gaiman reference to his Hugo Award and Newbery Medal winning novel The Graveyard Book, published 5 years after his 1602 run, which contains a chapter focusing on the town and graveyard's celebration of the dance macabre. Might be reaching though.
Sometimes this channel notices a detail i did but for a surprisingly different reason like I loved how Uatu is like ‘billions day every day b, this one too’ and Peggy is like “not on my watch” because on Uatu is an inactive watcher like a 3rd person observer
15:34
You almost got me there
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Also Loki playing Hamlet is fitting because Hamlet is based on a scandinavian legend
Interesting thought: Maybe the 1602 universe is what happened during the Infinity War of the universe of Episode 3 this season, and that’s why Happy turns into the Freak here, too.
That’s what I’ve been thinking this whole time
For a second I thought it was Doom too. Gave me a heart attack.
Same thought
Exactly I got excited for no reason 😅
16:21 if everyone else is also displaced to 1602, why aren't they forerunners too? The fact that Steve is the only one that's glowing as the forerunner means that everyone else is created there in 1602, like in the comics
I think it’s because of the fact that while everyone was sent back, Steve was the one who inadvertently sent them back
@@collierlandry1631 back home or back to 1602?
In my interpretation, he was the incursion point or whatever you wanna label it and so when he was returned, that branch pruned itself and alternate events happened. Maybe even someone else was ruling, who knows how it changed, but nothing was left except the castle so Carter moved on.
@@nailinthefashion getting NWH vibes here
They are from that universe. Steve and Peggy are the only ones that aren't. Idk why people think they're all from 2018. Nothing here suggests otherwise
Loki: I have wasted time and now the time doth waste me.
I think he got wasted with Tony and that's how he misplaced Mjolnir.
My favourite episode so far
...and Hiddleston, being a British Theatre actor, actually played Hamlet in 2017 directed by... Kenneth Branagh
A great misdirect for the episode is Happy being the Freak in this reality because I bet most of us were only introduced to the idea back in this season’s Christmas episode.
It makes me wonder what their plans are for Captain America 4 or whatever. If this is to test run his design later, I'm "happy" with it
I happened to not be looking at the screen while he turned purple so at the finale when he did it was such a pleasant surprise
What makes that a misdirect?
very much enjoyed this episode. peggy carter is definitely one of my favorites from the studio.
I want to see a Captain Carter/Natasha movie.
@@seanj3667Yes!!
Feel better Jessica!! ❤ Can’t wait to see you in the next one.
Holy Sh! I had no idea Neil Gaiman wrote the 1602 comics. Guess what I'm reading today.
This was probably my favorite episode of the season (and I've seen the last one as I write this). Good fun all around.
The helmet in the background of Tony's laboratorium is a barbute, a common helmet style of the 15th century. These were the helmet style upon which the Mandalorian's helmet is base, not the other way around.
Awesome episode❤
i don't get why people thought it dr. doom when he hears before the reveal you can tell its mark Ruffalo voice underneath it
Erick: I’m on fraternity leave, but I’m here for that overtime.
I like to think that Steve hit the time stone disappeared distracting Thanos and then Thor actually managed to kill Thanos while he was distracted
Get better Jessica!! ❤❤ take them meds! And now I have to go watch the Loki finale again because I too am obsessed! 😁
Considering MCU Loki comes from previous Shakespearean (and tv) collaborations between Brannagh and Hiddleston, this is a nice nod. Without that casting choice I doubt Loki would have played such an important role in the MCU.
Outstanding video. I was going to shower, but got totally immersed, and didn’t even realize 18 min flew by! More more more!! Thanks! And congrats on baby!!
Never seen no views before. Always stoked for these videos!
Something I kept thinking about this whole episode was: why is Steve big if this was during a time before the super soldier serum could've been created? The answer was in front of me the whole time...
I know the same argument could be made for the hulk but it could've been explained away as 1602 bruce could've gotten gamma poisoning from a different source. The super soldier serum has a VERY specific formula.
Exactly, I had so many questions. Tho the finale explained it.
I’ve waited all day for this😩
I was excited to see the Tower of London!
If ever there was a way to have a Marvel/DC crossover in an organic way, this was it. I we got a quick shot of Shakespeare hanging out with Morpheus in the background, it would not have been out of place.
Thanks for the great video! I’m loving What if…?
Loved this episode.
YES! I was not the only one to think Doom!
This episode was so fun! The similar beats to our MCU as we know it were a fun twist in 1602. Good one.
rogers was dressed in green it couldnt have been more obvious lol
Hela also seemingly died before 2018 meaning if Loki did this, meaning he also brought back his and Thor’s sister.
The only person here from 2018 is Rogers...
This episode was awesome probably my favorite this season love see all the avengers variance in 1602 cant wait to see what in store for us tomorrow in the finale.
I love What If season 2 episodes so much. This is one of my favourite episodes.
Feel better Jessica!
When Tony mentioned thieves I thought it was either going to be Clint or Natasha. Clint is the obvious choice for a bandit. Don't know why they didn't include him.
get well soon jessica, glad to have you back erik even if its short
These episodes are amazing.
This was another good one!! The end of the episode was unexpected with Rogers breaking the time stone while fighting Thanos 💯💯
jon favreau was having the time of his life in this episode 😂
Favorite thus far sooo so good
Thy ..can't wait for part duce .
..the peeps that can interact with The Watcher · is a mystery i've been trying to understand.. great "takes" on what may be going on ..!!! ~
He’s back 😱😱
omg 10/10, this episode was an emotional rollercoaster, a crazy joyride in the world of Marvel 1602, just dripping with easter eggs straight across the blank canvas! glad paying attention somewhat to Shakespeare in English is helping with easter eggs in this one!
The streaks on Steve while he's glowing green reminds me of the infinity was posters
I also like how there is an army of yellow jackets, similar to how there is an army of people in vulture suits in the comics
The flags on the map table do allude back to the scene in Captain America The First Avenger, when Steve reported his Hydra findings back to the Allies
HOW IS U SO FAST WITH THESE REVIEWS!!!!!
Did anyone else notice that Detail #18 @14:40 shows Steve Rogers with the shield on his left hand, but then when he charges Thanos @14:42 the shield is now on his right hand?
Love it!
Love from Belgium 🇧🇪 ❤
I thought of it as a "Temporal Pocket" like a 'pocket dimension' for time.
I thought this was an incursion
@@lexramstudios1386 yes, the incursion was Cap coming back in time (from an other dimension) and messing up the continuum, the result of the incursion would've been the "time pocket", I think 👍
I hope they tease X-Men 97 at the end of the finale.
That would be too much. But I still want it. MUTANTS AND MAGIC BABYYYYYY
Thor's crown in this is very similar to the magic crown he gets from Strange Supreme when he gives them armor in Season 1 Episode 9.
15:34 HA!!! Good one 😊
good you are back
It would be good if Marvel would use the blast from Thanos’ use of the stones as a reason why some people become mutants. Even those who were born since the snap. They would be teenagers now which is perfect for the time mutants to gain their powers. It would explain why mutants didn’t intervene in the battle with Thanos and The possibilities would be endless.
By far my favorite episode of the season, not even close. So many creative things they did with combining elements of the MCU with dnd type tropes.
Thor actually being king.
ROGERS HOOD being a liberating freedom fighter.
The super creative concept of size changing royal soliders.
THE DESTROYER ARMOR APPEARANCE.
Also seeing fury take orders from someone else for once was SO SATISFYING!
The shield that Steve Hood has in the final fight is also the same shape as the shields that he gets in Wakanda (Wakanada-HeHeHE)
Yay he's here again!!!
Not “Sorry Kid!” 😂
I want to know how do they explain the shrinking aspect of antman and the yellow jackets in that era? Nobody seemed impressed
Welcome back Erick
Good video
Scott Lang was hilarious in this episode
0:55 I also have a question: Wheres the rest of the skeleton????
I’m a little surprised Hawkeye isn’t Robin Hood.
I love this freaking episode 😊❤
welcome back
The best episode by far!
"Dash your puny GUARDS! " was the joke on "puny GOD"
did u not pointed out that this what if episode is the continuation of episode 3? i mean it would make alot sense
HE'S BACCKK🔥🔥🔥
Mind Blown!! Steve Rogers dropped out of high school during the 1930s when his mother died of TB. The reason he's the only character who is an anachronism in 1602 (being Robin Hood from the 1300s) is because he created the time slip and his only reference to history would have been old Errol Flynn movies. Everyone else is historically accurate which was the first Easter Egg that he was the forerunner.
