Yessss, finally!! The wait is over!! Simona is back in the Top 10!! As a romanian I am very very happy and pleased that Simona is back where she belongs. I'm a very big Halep supporter and I hope she can win the title here in Toronto. Props to Pegula as well for an outstanding match. I was watching this at like 10:30 pm is the time it ended and I was LITERALLY PRAYING TO GOD to help Simona win. I always feel her emotions I feel angry when she is angry because of an unforced error and I feel happy and I feel the joy that she also feels when she wins. But, I also feel the sadness and pain when she loses (ngl I actually cry sometimes when she loses, especially big matches)

Simona's heavy topspin is near Nadal's level. It seems to give the opponent some problems.

@@davd1986 10 double faults, her serve let her down and was very disappointed when she lost that 2 mp on pegula's serve cause she didnt wanna serve for the match but she didnt give up at all

The organizers disrespected Halep the whole week giving her the worst hours to play during the day. The organizers' behavior has been reckless taking into consideration that Halep is the player with by far the best results at this open in the last 6 years. Taking into consideration the hours of play Halep's performance is even more remarkable.

Exactly. I feel like haddad maia is getting more respect from the organizers, she’s in all wta’s instagram posts and she doesn’t even have half of simona’s accomplishments.
I think the scheduling was due to it being the prime time for Romanian tv to stream her matches. they were generally between 7-8pm RO time
@@antonia2289 Typical Canadian bureacratic thinking. The highly networked "leaders" with zero skills ask corporations about monetization but they don't ask the individual what her preference is? Did the organizers ask Halep if she prefers day sessions or evenings? The answer is NO. They just gave her the scorching heat time every single day. She didn't even get the Centre Court until quarters. And if Halep plays at 10PM in Romania it becomes prime time.

Incredible match, Simona is back!! I saw a very tie match, i think that the difference was in the break points safed and won. Simona played better this important point, specially in the third set when she won a service with 15-40. Good news for Pegula too, only this detail are pull apart her for Simona level. Congratulations to the both player.

Both of them were not at their best, but Halep never gave up and stayed strong. Well done! But she has to raise her level in the final.

@@georgy_tennis I hope so. Mouratoglou really helped her to get back in shape. Slowly, but surely. A semifinal at Wimbledon and right now she is in the final at Toronto. I hope she will play better in the final.

halep won this match thanks to her experience and great fighting spirit, great return game and very weak service games, pegula played well too

What a match. What a great comeback victory by Simona Halep. She played incredibly well. Although she struggles with her serving especially when she was serving for the match, she still won. She never gave up. She truly deserves this win. She worked so hard for this win. She showed why she is former world #1 in women's singles. She was so awesome. Jessica Pegula too played great, but small tactical mistakes in shot selection let her down. I think she could have won this match if she would have broken Halep's serve in 10th game of the 3rd set and made the score 5:5. Overall both played great but Simona Halep was bit better than Jessica Pegula. Congratulations Simona Halep on winning this match, advancing into Canadian Open Final and returning back to top 10. Well done Halep. Thank you Jessica Pegula for great match. I wish to Halep good luck in the Final and to Jessica Pegula good luck in the next tournaments.

Simona played really great, but she needs to improve her serve, since she has been struggling with it the whole tournament. If Patrick helps her with that she could be really hard to stop since she has raised her game a lot in the last tournaments

@@obioraonyeonwu7643 I can understand why someone is not the biggest fan of Halep. It is because of her defensive style of play, which is relying mostly on her opponents to do the unforced errors and to counter-punch. It is not her game to wipe everybody from the court with winners.
@@MultiStar83 Seriously?! Simona is one of the most aggressive tennis players, builds the point gradually and very intelligently. Yes, she can defend very well and is one of the best at it, but you can't say that she is a defensive player at all. I even recently saw somewhere a ranking of the most aggressive female tennis players and Halep was number 4..
I tell you why I am a fan of Halep, she’s just 1.68m and despite that she fights and runs left and right. Physically it’s very difficult for a player of her size to equally compete in terms of hitting power, serve power, arm length with someone like Haddad, Pliskova, Serena or the young Chinese they all have 1.85 - 1.86m except Serena. But Serena has a different body constitution. And still she wins against many

Pegula got the same problem as Swiatek, at some point, they both lose the proportions of the court with lots of balls going out. Intriguing
Pegula will never be the athlete Swiatek is. Iga has hard draws and succeeds. She is also physically fit. Pegula is given easy draws that is the only reason why she makes it this far in tournaments. She looks like a couch potato.
Every parson has a different physical complexion. I am not defending Pegula but she is mother and that may change you physically.

@@bigpardner that could be but the same problem occurred to Swiatek and to Pegula. As if they were novices without knowing the size of the tennis court, specially at the forehand strikes. Very intriguing
With all the top players playing like crap, it leaves an open door for others to show up and claim some territory.

This was on Pegula's racquet. At the begining of the 3rd set (it was the fourth game, Pegula up 2-1), Halep serving 0-40, she wasted 3 break points. Suddenly she became an unforced error machine, especially with the forehand, until she was 2-5. Then she put some fight to make it 4-5 but couldn't break Halep serving for the match. With Halep serving horrible and playing bad, with pure fighting spirit, this was Pegula's chance to win a big tournament. Her consistency, one of her best qualities, failed her.
Halep served badly today and also with Gauff, but it was far from playing badly, her return game is strong. Also Pegula played really well, she did better than I've expected
@@catalinbotean3674, I agree that Halep defended well, specially on critical moments, but she played below her level. In the third set she just sent the ball to Pegula's forehand so she could self-destroy. And Pegula played a good first set and started great the third set. I thought she was on her way for an easy ride but after wasting those 3 break points from 0-40 and several around deuces, she crashed.

I think Halep's strength, along with her tenacious spirit, is to give opportunities for her opponents to destroy themselves.😄 Now, one can say that she destroys herself with double faults over the past couple matches. She's got to do better today in the finals. I wish her luck.

How bad was this match! 11 winners to 42 unforced errors for Halep and she wins? Pegula didn't fair much better with 21 winners to 43 unforced.

Pegula a step too slow in my opinion. Simona's got stamina so she won despite all those double faults. I wish Pegula would skip doubles play, save some energy, and focus on singles.

Are there any videos or video series that interview pro tennis players, both men and women, on their advice on how they build their teams, their practice routines,their fitness routines, their nutrition, and their opponent scouting? Basically, a deep dive into what it takes beyond pure athletic and tennis ability to become a top tennis player on the WTA and ATP tours and what it takes to stay there and maximize their winning results and rankings. It would also be nice to deep dive into sponsorships, how they are offered, negotiated and maintained, since this is such a large part of top players revenue streams to keep playing pro tennis, which is not a cheap sport to participate in. How much to they make versus what they make on court and how does one influence the other?
Those are the trade secrets that apply to the very talent top players. No one will tell you. You cannot find them, they will find you if you are very gifted.
@@strongbrain3128 I think this info is pretty general. I'm not asking for an athlete's personal regimen in detail, just an outline of how a player's "team" is organized and how it works. Ever seen info on how a modern American football team's coaches and support staff are organized? There's a lot behind the scenes there that is very important to a team's success. How all of that works to make the team be it's best is very interesting and eye-opening. I'd like to learn more about how team's work for high level pro tennis players.

I will always root for the less noisy of two players. Quieten down Simona.
Jessica kept missing returns, high balls, could not redirect the ball down the line. She would target hitting the ball so close to the line that it will go OUT. Then she tells herself "give yourself more margin" (even her coach hand signaled this to her) and then she would make the same mistake again in the very next rally. Dude, did you not just say to yourself don't go for the lines? It must be embarrassing for any professional player if they cannot figure out how to correct the errors for two sets.

Good girl now let's get some revenge on Haddad Maia. She needs to open up the court with her forehand to BH backhand then hit hard and deep to the forehand for a winner when BH is off court enough. Hope she wins it again
