The Biggest Drop I've Ever Attempted

- Everyone has a list of "those features" in their head, features that stand as a sort of mental barrier to progression. You know full well you can clean them, they're well within your abilities after all, but you just can't bring yourself to check them off. Then after months of overthinking things, one day you'll find the confidence to know it'll go well and that there's nothing to worry about. This was one of "those features" for me and I'm extremely glad to have conquered it after two and a half years of looking at it. Maybe there's a little freeride spirit in this weight weenie after all. Thanks for the encouragement Laura and Andrew and sorry mom!
Trailforks: Nope, sorry! ;)

That was the smoothest case that I think anyone has ever done off a 20 foot drop. Insane, mad respect.
Very pleased that I still have a rear wheel. 🙈
Indeed hehe
JUST, cased it. She was right If you were a tad more aggressive you would have cleared 💯
But I get it bro, first time on a big drop like that…. With two big trees at your landing… don’t wanna get to cocky. Specially if this drop is twice as big as your biggest, like you said. This takes huge balls and I would never do this, I like to pretend I could hahah.
That was big. I was fairly anxious watching you do that.
Perfect body position on that drop. Chin over stem, body centred and a small pop before the drop. Awesome work!
Man, I get such good vibes from your videos. Nice send.
Cheers Sebastian!
That was an epic drop man! So nice to check a feature off the list! Drops were something I really progressed on in 2020, so I know the feeling of stomping it like you did. Keep up the sick riding!
Hell yeah brother! 🤘
@@DaleStone 🤘 Cheers!
I can honestly say this wouldn't be mom approved but sure was awesome !
I just road that trail yesterday and was admiring the size of that drop.
Nicely Done...that drop looks big on Vid...so you know it's huge!!!
That was awesome to watch! I would need a full on Dh bike to even consider doing that and would probably still chicken out. Great vid!
Rumour has it that people have sent it on hardtails. It's amazingly friendly!
That’s even more insane, but I’d believe that happened. Silly kids with rubber bones! My ankles would detonate on landing, no matter how steep it was 😀
Man my palms are sweaty. Nice job!
That is one big drop 😬
You sir are next in line.
I might be third in this train
@@DaleStone you gotta tow him into it ;)
You dont wanna piss off Nicks mom!! #mma moms
I came searching for Mom's comment, I was not disappointed :)
Great job buddy. I was holding my breath.
Me too, had to remind myself to breathe on the first run up!
Balls of steel sir. Don’t think I could bring myself to hit a drop that big
Whoooooo!!! "Daddy what wrong?" "Nothing I'm watching this dude Dale's POV hitting this insane drop!" SICK!
Love that trail!
Huge drop! Insane bro!!
UNREAL !!! Pretty sure I jumped in my chair dude. Phew
Dales sending it Canada Post! Expedited shipping!
Sweet send man. I wouldn't have known you cased it the first time if you hadn't of said you did. Pretty smooth
That's what I thought too! The more aggressive camera shake headbang is the only giveaway that anything was amiss.
@@DaleStone well you killed it like a boss
This is mental 🤯
Congrats!!!! You are forgiven for not dinging the bell! I’m confident in saying, I will never attempt anything like that.
That's what I said verbatim two years ago...
I’m 50.... I’m confident!!!
Muy Grande Cahones Dale, muy grande.
Nice one!
Met a trail builder once, told me about all the crazy stuff hidden up in this mountain including a massive a drop. I have a sneaking suspicion this is the mountain/drop he was talking about.
Funnily enough, this is the third (or maybe fourth) biggest drop that I know of on this mountain. It's insane.
@@DaleStone I wouldn’t be surprised, there’s a lot of crazy stuff hidden all over that mountain. I’ve heard there’s tons of bears up there too
I'll try and put one in the gap next time!
@@DaleStone that’d make for a great clickbait title and thumbnail!!
Awesome!
Holy shit that looked even bigger when you went over
I've wanted to try that one, but I'll definitely wait for a tow-in to do it.
Hit the corner, one pedal stroke. Maybe two if you mess up the corner. You got it!
Where is it
Sick video that is a big drop
WOW! Congrats!!
Thanks! One pedal stroke out of the corner. I'll be watching your stories on Instagram this week. 👀
@@DaleStone thx!
Nice!
Respect.
nice jump
Nice! I just read in another vid your also from Ontario. We all end up out here to ride lol🍻🇨🇦
It's rare to hear of people moving East!
@@DaleStone sure is, bit I do know of a few🤷♂️
Dude! Nice work, that drop is no joke! Now that you've got it in the bag you gonna head down the road to the bigger one?
Thanks man! Not sure I'm quite ready for the bigger sibling quite yet, need to spend this winter replenishing my adrenaline supply from this one haha.
You should make your own bike bells company that make durable nice looking bells. I bet that a lot of viewers would like to buy it. And also awesome video.
That's a neat idea for the future!
Rode this trail today, but that drop is a big Nope for me!
aha, same here. big NOPE for me, especially on my HT
You know Dale is excited when he does the Mickey Mouse laugh
Wow that’s sick
WOW 😎 EXCELLENT 🎉🎉🎉
Think Ill Be Doing That Next Season 😎
Sick videos by the way
No go pro effect there. Is huge looks huge. Yay. 👍
Time for some new gloves my man
Heart rate overlay would be cool on this one.
Totally agree. Though since I have to manually import and align/time the overlay for every single clip, it wasn't viable for something like this. :(
i think jordan boostmaster rode this, idk lol
There is three places where I have seen a drop this size before (other than at a bike park).
1) Burke Mtn
2)Fromme
3) Seymour
This video makes me want to go hit some drops! Good job recovering from that case made it look easy!
Can't think of a bigger one on Fromme myself, though I'm sure there's something old somewhere...
@@DaleStone Yeah, I was thinking of the wardens gap. I don't know what that would classify as but I think it is a drop 🤷♂️
What trail on burke has the drop?
The drop goes over "Lancaster Access" on Trailforks, and is in a highly questionable state.
@@DaleStone Heh fastest replying youtuber! What are some good lap-able trails on burke? rn I'm between harder blue and easier blacks as far as progression goes. Do you ever ride with other people?
Gosh darn
Heroes work.
Dood that's big... that has to be bigger than the Dirt Merch pro-line drops? Obviously a shorter run-out too even if the run-out is well built!
I've yet to check out dirt merchant, but my sources say it is bigger!
💪💪💪💪
Gnarly!
You're up next! ;)
@@DaleStone haha maybe one day. That would also qualify as my biggest drop too
Threading through those trees man. That was awesome! So glad you didn’t case that and explode your wheel. Getting the nerves to hit something like that 🤘🏻
Is this bigger than the dirt merchant pro line drop?
Good question. I'm not a confident enough high-speed jumper for that trail. Asked a few friends and they said that this one is bigger!
That was incredible😳🤯 where’s that at??
The new lower bobsled extension!
@@DaleStone cool
@@SamWilsonTube LOL, its a local secret, if we told you we'd have to bury you between the drop and the landing ;)
@@slowspoke1027 😳😬😂
@@SamWilsonTube teehee, the only detail I can share is that its on a mountain, located in BC, where you can mountain bike... heh...
It's not only high, you must get speed to jump far. The kind of drop you're afraid because you can really do it 😂
Dale how much you have travel on your suspensions? I'm wondering to buy a new bike between 160 and 170mm for rear suspension. Never ride a carbon bike. I think good suspensions in 160 or 170 and strong wheels will be mains good points. I'm not riding since a long time mt bike.
Cheers from France. Salutations !
I have 150mm of travel out back and it's more than enough for what I want to do! Your plan is solid, and anything modern will be loads better than what you remember! Haha, good luck!
I can't imagine to do the same drop with my scott genius 940 from 2018, with fox dps float 150. Maybe i should try same travel with X2. I don't have showroom near from where i leave, i will try. Nice channel. Keep shredding 👍

Were you on Burke this afternoon? Roughly 2:30ish heading up the dirt road just past the Big Boy Time exit? Don’t think it was you, but it was a guy riding a yellow Norco with full helmet, so maybe...
Definitely me! What a beautiful day to get out there for a ride.
Well I was the 50 year old guy pushing his bike up, and envying the 20 something youngster peddling up no problem. Wish I hadda clued in sooner to give you a proper “hi”. Yeah, it was a beautiful day for a ride. Hope you had a good one!
Haha, I think I know who you are then. It's all a bit of a blur with the calorie deficit I ran today. Hope you had a great ride as well!
Achieved some progression on a couple of trails, so that’s always good. Dirt today was better than it has been in weeks, so that helped.
Why.....because it’s there.
great riding, please can send me the name of the trail ?
It's not public, sorry! Get outside and get exploring. :)
tree parking lot big dead
"
This is intersting"
Shows the wife..... Tells her - "Dale Stone has been making progress....".
The wife response - "Dale Stone is NUTS!!!!". LOL.
Kudos.
I'm curious why the vid resolution jumps up at the 20 second mark. Did you have to ride a gap to get the camera into "sharp mode"?
that's scary man... bigger than Brutus (cypress)?
Probably similar, been a while since I've looked!
👍😎hou A THE GAP
what bell is that?
Spurcycle Compact
Not surprised there’s 0 dislikes
where was the bell ding in mid air man
That's why they call me Dale "Over-promise and Under-deliver" Stone.
If he's anything like me, he was too focused on not making a mess in his pants to remember to ring the bell.
The scariest thing is how do-able it appears😬
Its hole not a gap but gg
What trail is that I have been looking for that drop forever
🤐 sorry!
funny
Small mistake in calculations, you forgot to count in the weight of your massive balls. You needed more speed thats all. Luckily you counted it in for the second try. :)
the rumour is that its the reason why dale doesn't ride a 29er. because of the ball to wheel interference
Math is hard. Also @viperrules24 is literally correct. That is my exact reasoning hahaha.
@@DaleStone Wait I thought you had a 29er? Guess we'll find out in the bike check ;)
This is Coquitlam right?
Awesome!
