we have also had computer faults when the tractor would not start also we've had fuel pump go out and air con pump also the tractors radar system broke a couple of months ago.Another piece of advice buy a case magnum 200 or 230 its around the same horse power as the 8120.We have a 2002 case magnum with around 8000 hours on it had that from brand new to and its never missed a beat. all our tractors get serviced all the time when they need to. Hope I do don't affend
Heres hopeing nothing bad happens to your 8120. Our one is a very good tractor when its working goes around the hills no sweat loads of grunt.(I live in new Zealand heaps of hills every were u go) We also contracting company so. last year was a good year for our 810 no problems untill about 2 months ago it got a really big oil leak in the seal between from the engine to the gearbox so the whole door side of the hood is coverd in oil. we not going to fix it we going to buy a new tractor we hope.
GOOD!! Hope the new machine turns out to be everything you hoped it would be.. and that now, maybe, the rest of the year has NO unpleasant events happening..
In my are that load would have got you a ticket for under secured load lol I am suprised you did not get a track model. Can not wait to see her in action.
lets get an inside view and how things work! i think we all find them interesting! glad to see your with a new work horse, although it sucks you lost your other deere, im a case tech, but i must say the newer gen deers are sharp lookin
i was 10 when i started driving farm tractors but i had an old bolens lawnmower i used to drive long before that.. i have the tractor i started on it is a 1940 9N ford..
Those power shifts are nice ! Where I work they have a 8310 with the hp turned up,a 8420 and a 9320 which is an 18 speed with that type ! They all sound mean just like your new one !
We have a 2003 John Deere 8120 its the same as your one just made in a diffrent year. And my advice to you is to sell it now and get rid of it. No offence to all you john deere lovers i like them too. We have had nothing but problems with our 8120 its done 6500 hours we have had it from brand new been serviced every time it needed to be. We have had every thing go wrong, from transmission fault it wouldn't go into forward or reverse at when it did it only went into 1 gear it wouldnt change
Nice lookin 8120 I believe. The output shaft on the PTO looks tiny though. I have my fingers crossed that nothing but good luck comes your way Wes, you certainly deserve some good comin your ways. Cheers mate Lee in Australia
Dude I've had 2 8320s and 8120 plus a 9320 we have 10000 hours on the one 8320 and no problems idk what these guys are talking about but these 20s are the shit dude. The yearly cost of maintence for our 20s is less then our 8110
see i work for my dad he owns the buisness and the farms the transmission was a simple fix same with computer it only took a couple hours to fix each but we were talking to the John Deere people today and its going to cost us nearly 10 grand to fix which isn't much but its going to be in the shop for 2 weeks and that down time we cant afford because were so busy at the momment. so hopfully it wont break again and the fact when its going good its the best dam tractor we've got hands down
hello from greece! you got yourself a very nice tractor!! i wish i could afford it too... anyway....i hope you will enjoy it!!!! may it not have any problem ever!!
your videos are really nice my young son loves tractors and farms... But I have to preview them because of some of the language.... you know the rule... The man with the most TOYS wins... Have a Great day!
Really NICE Traktor. But seeing the field sizes and the travelling on roads you have to do why didn`t you go for a 7920, 7930 or something like that? Would save fuel on the roads and still have sufficient power to run the baler. Anyway, hope the NEW LADY does a fine job for a long time :-). Greeting from Germany.
It did take Deere a long time to figure out what road gear is didn't it. That was always one draw back to the older series. 8120's are nice tractors however. I had a chance to spend some time in the seat of one a few years back
The 4960 was rated at 200 an tested 210 at the PTO. Drawbar was tested at 176.48 HP. The 8120 was tested at 199.71 HP at the PTO, and 148.45 at the drawbar. Info taken from Tractor data.com
Dude you should take a look into new holland tractors. They are considerably cheaper and I had to do some research on tractor comparisons and their ability to do certain tasks. I can tell you from research that these latest new hollands use considerably less fuel than the john deeres and produce more hp and torque. When their boost function becomes active they produce hp spikes of 30 - 50hp. Having used them I can also vouch for their excellent cabs. You should look into it.
8120 more powerful than a 4960? Yah...no. We've had 2 8120's that barely have enough power to move them through the field. I'd say the 4960 could stand right along side our 83 or 8430's.
i think you had a lemon :( i have not heard to much trouble with these tractors i do remember that there was a controller problem early on in the 8100-8200-8300 and was fixed for the 8400 recalls where made on the others to fix the problem i have not been told not to use the clutch but i dont it seems pointless to push it in when i can just move a lever so its more natural not to lift my foot .
We got an 8120 and the thing is a brute. Weve got an 8110 to and it's a night and day power difference. The 8110 is just so gutless compared to the 8120. We've got a 7730 and 7810 and again a night and day power difference. I think John Deere made a wrong with the 10 series all of ares are just so gutless not a singer one of them shows a bit of power we've got 2 7810s 7710 and a 8110. But the 20s and 30s are All brute force you'll like that tractor
Your 8120 has 30 less PTO hp than the 4960. 4960 was the largest model of the early 90s and that is the smallest model of the early 2000s. It weighs a few thousand pounds more though so you'll have a bit more traction.
make sure they fill up the tractor with fuel, lol. they are probably off to the submarine races! did you get the 8120 with the brakes already installed? love your channel
We do no that we don't use the clutch and it had nothing to do with that the transmission wouldn't engage gear so when we put it into forward it would stay in park and the same in reverse
hey my name is nathan and im 9 and i love your vids i live on a farm in australia but we grow vegis like cabbages fresh corn and all those sort of things just asking how old were you before you learnt to drive a tractor i was 9 and was driving my dads m110 kubota 110 hp with 8 or lower.ps it would be nice if you could reply plz
Oh ya and tithe guys saying the transmission faults don't believe it and you can look this up call John Deere. The 20 30 and r tractors weren't ment to have a clutch. Your supposed to go from park to forward no clutch. Trust me we have 10 20 and 30 sieges tractors and we've had transmission problems then we found out your not supposed to use clutch. Never had transmission problems again. Trust me if you don't talk to jd

a 4960 is 227 hp and a 8120 is 200hp max out at 230hp, the difference is that the 8120 has a much higher torque at the same hp
nice tractor i workt 3 years with this JD model during my education
im sure you will live it so good luck with this baby
We just traded our 8120 in for an R series tractor. They are a good series! It will be a nice upgrade from the 4960. Ours never missed a beat
GOOD!! Hope the new machine turns out to be everything you hoped it would be.. and that now, maybe, the rest of the year has NO unpleasant events happening..

Looks & sounds like a very nice machine. Hope you get several years of service out of it.
I love the 8120 has a lot of horsepower so that's why I like it
Best of luck with your new tractor !! it is a Beauty !!
Glad to see you have got a nice new tractor.

Very nice tractor Wes. You bounce back pretty quick. keep it up

That is so cool. I totally enjoy your vids....it sucks about the old tractor but this one is wicked, would love to just cruise around in it...haha.
Congrats! That's a good looking tractor Wes. 199 HP at the PTO tested according to Tractor Data.com

I'm a farm hand and I've driven a 8410 8130 and a 2012 8335r all power shifts I love driving them
Beautiful sounding tractor!
Really NICE Traktor. But seeing the field sizes and the travelling on roads you have to do why didn`t you go for a 7920, 7930 or something like that? Would save fuel on the roads and still have sufficient power to run the baler.

*LOOK'A THAT BUFFALO!* lmao that was perfect. Such a beast JD too. Nice, man!
We upgraded from a 4960 to an 8130. Love the newer tractors.
You are a lucky man! they are great machines!
+++++

Really nice to see that you found a new tractor but isnt this one a bit less powerfull in the engine or is it about the same as the old one?
Now thats a real nice tractor.
It looks great!

i dont need to to bale hay it makes it to wide for new jersey roads and it just not worth it.

good luck, with this tractor ;)
awesome tractor dude
Holy shit that thing is nice my uncle has the 2011 one
great machine !
That engine sounds like it might drink more fuel? Nice looking machine.
The revving the guts off it everywhere nearly made me cry
Nice. Looking at the small controls.... is it all drive by wire? No cables just electronics?
That tractor is really nice
@HighTechRedNeck131 yes
Please tell me you did not get this from the same dealer as the new holland baler......
Nice one Jersey keep it up :)
How much horsepower does it has
nice tool me owd no smoke no poke !!!
Are you thinking about getting a loader for this tractor plus nice tractor !!
We do no that we don't use the clutch and it had nothing to do with that the transmission wouldn't engage gear so when we put it into forward it would stay in park and the same in reverse
nothing kills a DEERE LIKE A MAGNUM!
a scrap yard kills tractors
How come they're not dead yet?
Cant wait to see more !
hey my name is nathan and im 9 and i love your vids i live on a farm in australia but we grow vegis like cabbages fresh corn and all those sort of things just asking how old were you before you learnt to drive a tractor i was 9 and was driving my dads m110 kubota 110 hp with 8 or lower.ps it would be nice if you could reply plz
My '72 ford 2000 tractor has 38 hp! You ever plan to run dual wheels on that thing?
well its time for me to buy one thats nice but i need about 65 k first lol
nice you should get a loader for it that would be a liitle much power haha
that's a nice tractor
@Caseih11098 Not asking to buy it just wondering how many hours are considered low/good/high for a tractor.
Did you sleep in it the first night? lol Looks good
You should just buy another 7810 because we have two and there nice tractors
I drove a 4640, 4840, and 8100 for a farmer when i was in high school.
Will u be putting more vids of the new tractor soon
@KillerJoeFIN well thats a deere 404 engine.
how much horse power does it have
not my color flavor, but it sure is a nice feeling getting a new tractor!
Have you considered red? Are there even any caseih dealers there?
I was wondering why you don't use duals on your tractors?
I used to build them. Retired now.
3:35 Horse thinks... what is that roar.. :)
At 4:23ish where the Deere & buffalo roam. Didn’t they use those prose in a jingle?
Oh ya and tithe guys saying the transmission faults don't believe it and you can look this up call John Deere. The 20 30 and r tractors weren't ment to have a clutch.
