    This method, "Squish to condish" has been a game changer with my 2B/C hair! I've never had it be so curly, soft, and moisturized! I also squish in my styling products too! So glad I found this channel as we have very similar hair structure! Thank you! 👍

      I'd also like to add my thanks. I had given up on the curly girl method. I have super fine 2b hair, and nothing I tried was really working. I figured I would have to learn to "embrace the frizz"! Then I tried the s2c with each product, like you showed us in your videos, and I am so happy today with my glossy, defined waves. What a difference. Thank you so much!

    Thank you! I learned a lot from your video, but I haven't found anyone talking about how they get from the wet/"seaweed hair" to the ready to air dry or diffuse stage. When I scrunch with a microfiber towel, I add frizz; when I flip my head back, I lose the definition. If I tried to air dry from that wet, it would take 3-5 business days, lol... I'm definitely missing a step. Help??

    S2C is where its at. I recently went to a curl-specialized hair salon and they taught me a different method that seemed like a lot of squeezed raking - the concept I think being to help the curl 'families' clump together. S2C only came into effect at the very last stage with gel. Well, I've tried every way to Sunday to make that method work, but I kept getting weak curls if any. I am finally concluding that I'm not doing the method wrong, the method just doesn't work for me. Loved this video with the additions of loosening the hair at the back and using the comb to get clumps to form. Trying it next wash day.

    • @alysonlupo
      @alysonlupo  Před 6 lety

      Interesting! Sounds like that might be a good technique for someone with type 3+ hair, but for me, would equate to weak waves as well. Scrunching up to encourage wave is all I've found that works for me (so far). Keep me posted of your results with these modifications. Hope it works better for you.

I’ve been finding watching a lot of videos from women who are 3c/4a, and while some of their product recommendations have been working out ok, I’m glad to find that there are CZcamsrs out there with similar hair! I’ve also watched one particular young blonde 2c, but she uses a lot of silicones.

    I LOVE S2C. Only been wavy for a short while now but it seriously helps to make the waves actually...wave and 'set' before I plop.
    Shampoo and condit, and then I S2C my leave-in into my hair, using a tiny bit of a water to just break the product up a bit and make it not to heavy on the hair.

      @kierasaurusfrost Před 5 lety +5

      I’m confused too because Manes by Mell and a few other curly/wavy channels have said that leaving a regular conditioner in your hair can be bad and offset the ph of your hair. It’s more acidic than an actual leave-in conditioner and I find that leaving a rinse out conditioner in my hair makes it feel more dry than rinsing it all out. Idk tho

    I'm so confused. I'm trying so hard to understand what squish to condish means, but no one actually explains how to do it or why or what the end result is supposed to be. Like, you never washed the conditioner out of your hair, right? You put the conditioner in and squished it up. Where did it go? Isn't it really bad to leave all the conditioner in? I wish there was a clear explanation somewhere on the internet about what this is supposed to look like.

I just rinse it out right away (not sure if that’s a bad idead). I just don’t know what to do for 5 mins if I’m not taking a shower and I’ve already brushed my teeth before hand lol 😆. What do you do in those 5 mins? I know this is such a strange question. 😂😂

    So just to clarify, no pun intended, you squish the conditioner in your hair and it doesn’t get rinsed out? You layer your products over the conditioner? I have super baby fine, low density, high porosity hair. Gets easily weighed down.

    • @alysonlupo
      @alysonlupo  Před 3 lety

      No, I always rinse out my conditioner almost completely. For your baby fine, lower density hair, definitely rinse it all out. Higher porosity hair needs light layers of product to retain moisture, so I really recommend a leave-in conditioner (love Innersense Sweet Spirit, As I Am leave-in, Kevin Murphy Angel Rinse, or Paul Mitchell Scalp Care Anti-Thinning conditioner), layered with a foam, and then a light gel on top. Be sure to include water and leave-in in your refresh!

    How many times a week do you do this routine? I S2C but I don’t use nearly a lot of products. The reason I S2C is because it squeezes the condish in and hydrates better. I don’t do it to enhance my waves. I only use a cleanser, condish and a gel. I do S2C the condish and when my hair is still soppy wet I squish in the gel.

    @eryale_ Před 3 lety

    Hello, I'm very sorry if you answered this before, but was the first conditioner you put in leave-in or not? Because I noticed that you only rinced it off very quickly, so is this just how much you should rinse normal conditioner off? Was it leave-in conditioner? Did you rinse it off off camera? I just recently realized very recently that I have wavy/curly hair so I'm trying to learn the most I can 😅

    Hoping you see this. After I STC all my product in and turn my head up right, I have clumps. However, I have hair from the back clumping forward, clumping from the middle of my head forward, over the top to the other side, etc. I feel like I need to run a comb through to get my hair back to the right parts of my head. But then I lose all definition😝😖

    • @alysonlupo
      @alysonlupo  Před 6 měsíci

      Hi! Nope, leave it all alone. Upright, give your head a good shake and TRUST THE MESS. You might have to adjust/arrange some pieces around your face or at the back of your head, but as it dries it will all make sense. Alternatively, you might try side to side squishing and styling instead of upside-down. Experiment on a few more washdays and you'll find a method that works for you.

      @@alysonlupo thanks so much for answering my question! I did just begin to try the side STC. Then with pinning my roots for volume around my part it has definitely given me clumps! You are genius!
      I have another question if you’re up to it. Now that I have clumps I have much less volume overall. Not a ton of bounce. The clumps underneath are tight corkscrews. Te top tends to cling to the underneath clumps but at the same time are less defined and don’t hold long. I am dark blonde, going grey, type 2b/c-3a, fine, dense and high porosity due to hightlights. Just discovered protein and have been working into the rotation. Any advice you may have now that I am finally getting clumps would be greatly appreciated!!

      @loisdeborah Před 5 lety +1

      squish to condish is to add more definition and hydration for your hair, not to add volume, so yes, definitely do it :)

  • @tahreemsheikh7582

    STC is what gives hair the definition! However,i keep adding water when i stc the conditioner initially. Every product after that is just “scrunched” in. Same thing but without adding water.

    Hopefully this method works with my hair. I think I have 2c/3a hair... and my ends have not been curling. They look really bad no matter how much leave-in and product I put on my hair. I've been following the curly girl method for almost 2 years now and my curls just aren't wanting to hold curl at the ends for the past 6 months or so...

    Dear what is the difference between hidration and moisturizing?

    • @alysonlupo
      @alysonlupo  Před 6 lety +1

      MsVelandra I think of hydration as happening because of the presence of water, from the inside out (ie you’re well hydrated if you drink a lot of water); moisturization happens on the outside, caused by conditioning ingredients that help us/our hair stay hydrated (ie just like lotion moisturizes your face and hands). Does that make sense?

      I rinse out most of my conditioner, and then add a dot of conditioner back in to leave in. Probably a step I don't need to do, but it works for me. So I do it. :)

    Hi I love your videos! I have 2b/2c hair and whenever I am styling upside down my hair looks great but than when I flip it over it looks like a hot mess and the curls are all frizzy. How do you flip your head over after you apply your products?? I do not use a diffuser so when I flip my hair over it is still wet with products.

      haley ascher That happened to me to earlier. But now I squish my hair not too much when it is upside down, so it is still very wet and then I flip over and squish back of my hair. You can also go trough your hair with fingers and then squish. It works for me. :) 💕

    Thank you for this video - very new to letting my hair do its wavy/curly thing and I'm basically clueless. I followed this and left the shower with gorgeous wavy clumps ready to dry.
    I have a question, though - how on earth do you finish with such a tidy parting/roots? The shape of my head gives me this weird crown parting, basically just a huge gap/rosette top left of my head, and I have to comb and blow dry it to hide it. More generally, I can't get my waves to part or sit right without combing, which of course ruins the waves. Do you have any tips?

    @imshinycaptain Před 2 lety

    Yeah you're right it's not hard, but it's hard to know if you feel like it's working, and if it isn't, is it something you're doing wrong or is it that your hair just needs something different... there's a whole laundry list!

    • @alysonlupo
      @alysonlupo  Před 6 lety

      It really doesn't! I don't use much of each product, and since I'm applying them with wet hands on VERY wet hair, it's dispersed more evenly and my hair absorbs it better, than it would if I applied on damp hair. Try it!

    Question
    1: Do you have to wash it out or do u leave it in?
    2: do you squish until it’s not dripping with water?

    • @alysonlupo
      @alysonlupo  Před 6 lety

      There are LOTS of ways to do this! Some just add water until they've squished out most of the conditioner; I choose to do a big rinse and squish mostly water and just a little conditioner in my hair. I leave it dripping because I want my hair pretty wet when I apply styling products. Once I've applied my final styling product, I squish and scrunch until it's no longer dripping.

    You have given my hair LYFE!!!! Thank you for doing what you do!! I bought the Dippity Do girls with curls curl defining cream today at Tj Maxx and I noticed that the packaging on my bottle was slightly different. Instead of a teal color block with the words "Curl defining cream," mine is magenta. Additionally, amodimethicone is not listed as an ingredient, instead this particular bottle includes PEG/PPG-25/25 Dimethicone? Do you know if the company has changed the formula or perhaps I have a really old product?
