  • The 10th generation Honda Accord is wider, lower, and longer than the previous generations. Gone is the coupe model as well as the V-6 engine option. Prices range from $23,570 for the base LX trim up to $35,800 for the Touring 2.0T model. The car seen here is the Sport 2.0T (M6) which is priced at $30,310. Fuel economy checks in at 22 MPG in the city and 32 MPG on the highway.
    Under the hood you get 2 engine choices. The first is a 1.5 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder and the second is a 2.0 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder. Gone is the V-6 option which will certainly ruffle some feathers out there. The 2.0 tested here makes 252 horsepower and 273 lb-ft. of torque. The transmission choices are a 6-speed manual or a 10-speed automatic.
    In the mid-sized sedan segment the Accord has a long list of rivals that include the: Nissan Altima, Toyota Camry, Hyundai Sonata, Kia Optima, Volkswagen Passat, Subaru Legacy, and the Mazda6 just to name a few.

    The new Accord is freaking fast. Test drove the 2.0t out for a spin and the wheels chirped all the way to 60MPH with sport mode on. The interior makes you feel like you are in a German saloon.
    I do highly recommend the bigger wheels option because it makes the car look really good. The smaller rims make the car look like crap. Honda is back from the 90s. Fun cars and good looking.

      I actually have the 2018 Accord 2.0 the automatic is so good, Especially coming from a 1.5 civic with a CVT it was just not an enjoyable transmission and the car was not fast enough. The accord is no joke. I call it the Japanese Charger because the Hemi Charger has a 0-60 time very similar to the accord.

    • @Tigerex966

      only in the sport trim, not lx, ex, exl, hybrid, or touring, that's why it's only 5%.
      I wonder what percentage it is of touring which is the only place you can get it?
      I'm guessing at least 50%.
      Mazda is similar, I think it is only availble on the baze trim and engine, but no other trims and not the 2.5 turbo.
      Camry, no way jose', they dont even offer a manual on thier supra sports car, but than, neither does honda on any Acura, not even the NSX.
      It was like a self fulfilling prophecy, take the manual off or have it on on level only and than say it is not selling and than take it all the way off.

    • @Tigerex966
      @Tigerex966 Před 6 lety +2

      Mazda does but only in i trim level, the base.
      Honda actually eliminated the manual from all trim levels, which is why some are not selling as good, you can only get it in the sport, not the lx-ex-exl-hybrid-or touring anymore if my info is correct, if not feel free to correct.

  • @tomgunc
    @tomgunc Před 6 lety +6

    What you said at 9:15 mark was funny. But if you have the time please go drive my last 2 cars I had the pleasure of driving. These are old school cars but the new ones of what I had are now some what better but not the M version because it did not have turbos and was a beast. I has a 2010 BMW M3 V8 with 7spd Dual Clutch Transmission which was heaven sent and drove like a dream and sounded like one too. So I loved that mid sized sedan and my other car which I hated because of one thing and that is a 2013 BMW 335i M Sport.... I couldn't stand NOT hearing the V8 roar and push me back in my seat. Sure the 6cyl turbo was nice but the M made such an impression on me, I can never look at other cars the same again. So you may ask, what the hell am I doing looking at an Accord since I had these upscale cars in the past?? Over a decade ago I was a sales person and I sold BMW, Acura, Honda, Toyota, Lexus and Subaru's and I remember Honda just being reliable, durable and fun to drive. My top favorite rides from Honda were 4 cars from the Japanese company which was the Acura NSX, the Integra GSR and Type R and of course the Honda S2000. Honda is stepping up their game as you can tell and I can't spend $45 to $75k on cars anymore. Sure the BMW had Heads Up Display back 5 years ago and it is a fine machine to drive but the Honda Accord is so much cheaper to get and for the money Honda is a good buy. Honda I know is always behind the cutting edge technology but after some other maker makes some invention they take their sweet time and copy that onto their new cars, playing catch up after Mercedes and BMW bring new technology to the forefront only to be copied and implemented to their new cars. Of course Honda is not the only one that copies, Toyota does that and more. It's like Samsung phones copy Apple and Apple always seems to be in court with them for that reason. Anyway, you made a great video and put in some real good points that add value to the minds of people who are considering buying and or leasing this car. Truth is I have not worked at Honda for 11 years but when I did the cars were just selling like hot cakes and for good reason. I hear now that Honda dealerships are begging American Honda Financial to step up and help them sell these cars as the millions of Accords are sitting on dealer lots all across the country due to the lack of incentives that they don't offer like Toyota is constantly doing to move units. Sitting in a parking lot over 100 days or more costs the dealers a lot of money each day they are on the property. Toyota may not be at the top of this segment as you suggested and I agree with that, but people find Honda to be ugly, and the noise levels bother many people and have for decades due to road noise from the tires, window sills, doors jams and insulation or lack there of. I know Toyota and Lexus make smoother rides than Honda and Acura does, but I also know that a driver who wants more input and feedback from the car they drive ( A true driver who gives a shit about how their car takes corners at higher speeds without losing control ) will love a Honda any day over a Toyota or even a Mazda.. Honda has so much to offer and for the buck it is a great choice for those who know better and the money doesn't seem to nudge them one way or the other. But when I sold cars 11 years ago, I swear people would say to me the following not just to me but other sales people as well said the samel; "Well the Toyota is so much more smoother and the road, noise levels is better on the Camry, Corolla etc. I like the Honda BUT Toyota has 0.0% or 0.9% financing or better leases than Honda does so I think it's in my best interest to go with Toyota. Many people just don't care about the gadgets when It comes down to monthly payments they have to face for 3 to 7 years depending on wha they choose to do. In training classes the managers would always tell us not to be order takers and sell the cars but little did the knuckle heads know that Honda sells themselves but many people are on a budget and can't afford to pay $2,999.00 down and $349 plus tax, lic and reg PLUS full coverage auto insurance on the number 1 stolen car in America. Toyota too is stolen very often and insurance rates are based upon where you live but also how many people steal cars for parts and many people tend to steal Honda more than any other make. Toyota leases are always LESS MONEY DOWN and LESS PER MONTH and many people don't know this but TOYOTA Financial will buy people who have bad credit or who have filed for bankruptcy in the last 3 to 5 years where at Honda that is an automatic go bleep yourself you are turned down because we won't finance or lease to people who filed BK. I lost many deals for that reason alone, Honda does not make exceptions unless you have 50%down or more which is insane. I know I said a lot here today and perhaps way to much than I should have. I felt like I wanted to touch points where I know people will make a decision one way or the other due to emotions, payments and affordability, looks, style, comfort and once you are on one team it's hard to switch to another. And I refer to Apple and Android again.....Sure people go from Apple to Samsung or Sony, LG etc, but the switch is hard and people do want the Honda Accord but Toyota places a beautiful shiny carrot in front of people's faces and if you're not paying in cash you tend to pay attention to the money and money moves people but Honda doesn't seem to care because of their pride in their products. I apologize for writing too much, too long and people may hate me for it but I had to put everything out on the table for others to consider, sorry for the long post/reply.

    Deal breaker for me is the manual 2.0 only comes as the stripper version. The touring 2.0 is very value packed with its long list of features esp HUD but is auto only. The manual is also noticeabley slower than the auto due to less efficient gear ratios and turbo spool dropoff, but i could live with that. Wont settle for civic level features though.

    For the higher version of the Sport they don't give an auto dimming rearview mirror. For 2018 that's expected. The 9th generation EXL has it and if they expect coupe customers to go over to the 2.0T sedan they should at least offer some of the same features. Also no Homelink garage opener. Not as much of a big deal but with no V6 and coupe they should at least offer these options in the 2.0T Sport.

    I think Honda is back to their old way of doing things. It looks ugly to some because it is different then other cars on the road. They have created their own look. I guarantee it will grow on everyone just like the cars they made in the past.

      Every sedan in Honda's line up is a based off the super successful 10th generation Civic. Imho, the 9th generation Accord was the best looking.. was also underpowered from factory/made as much power as the Civic Si but with more torque.
      I think the Insight looks better because it doesn't have the wannabe 2012 Camry tail lights.. I've seen it in person it doesn't look as bad and it keeps growing on me but the looks of it smh. Everything else about from new stiffer chassis, engines, and interior for both 10th generation Civic and Accord is better.. just the exterior look is almost the same.

      Jon McClane, you want one with the 5 spd 2.0T in black and has under 20K on it. I can tell you where you can get your hand on it for under $15,000 if you're willing to fly there. The only bad news is, it has a rebuilt title which it had an accident to the rear of the vehicle. All repaired were done and ready to roll. I want one but I want the automatic so my spouse can drive to some time; therefore, she won't let me buy it. Let me know if you're interested as it just available as of today 7/18/2020.

This car is great value for money. Hondata tune this and hello 290hp/373lb/ft trq . This car makes the 9th gen even more vanilla than it already is. The handling is spritely . The steering is surprisingly dialed in and the suspension is clearly stiffer than the yawn inducing 9th gen. Stop watching video's and go drive one and then talk. Hate on internet .

    I have no idea why there are so many 10th gen accord’s design haters. They designed their personal recognizeble style. It was a blast on new Civic which sells much better than its compettetors. Of course they applied that design on bigger and more premium Accord. And the most important here is the fact that at the moment i can see a lot more newer gen Accord on the streets then complimented super duper Mazda 6 which is absolutely doesen’t match to new Accord in any way and finally!!! “NON granny’s Camry”😂. So where are your Mazda 6 and Camry? This way i’m convinced that all the hate concearning to the new Accord’s design comes mostly from either Mazda/ 👵🏼Toyota fans or the people who never seen/drove that car in real life. By the way my first impression concearning to design was controversial as well but it last untill i had i chance to take a look & test drive it in real. Don’t worry Mazda/ Toyota fans. You all drive good cars. But Honda is just better😂

    Great fog as always I am getting ready to purchase a Honda Accord 2.0 10-speed automatic. Thanks to your very informative blog I test drove the xse Camry the Mazda 6 look at the Hyundai but it's a Korean product so I looked around after hours and just walk away wasn't interested and I will never buy any Nissan product with a CVT transmission that being said the Honda Accord handle outperforming outbreaks all of this competition at is $5,000 cheaper for the top-of-the-line touring then the xse Camry which the one I wanted was right at $40,000. It was between the Honda and the Camry. But the Toyota infotainment system is pure rubbish! And you can definitely feel the v6 extra weight around corners and Honda has a lot better aftermarket support versus the Toyota and Mazda and Hyundai. Meaning Honda has k-pro hondata 27: one plr Etc it is a lot easier to make a Honda go fast then it is a Toyota!
