  • The Dallas Cowboys restructured Dak Prescott's contract to save $4 million in salary cap space this year. Let's go through what the plan is with that money and how if factors in to whether they get a long term deal done with the QB.
Tyron Smith is off to the New York Jets and that makes me quite sad.
Plus a quick update on where the offseason stands in terms of needs and wants, and when the time comes to judge everything Dallas has done.

I know most fans hate this but I honestly believe one of the Cowboys major issues is the refusal to crash and burn aka blow it up. They're typically more concerned with their bottom line and making money than actually rebuilding and getting higher draft picks. Had this team sucked for 3 years they would've been in a better position with better talent. Drafting higher than pick 20 every year doesn't help when you are trash against elite teams bc of the front office's refusal to add quality players in free agency. This front office is full of money-hungry cowards and players that get scared AND tired in the playoffs. The whole team is trash!

Jeff your point about replacing QB's is well taken but is there nothing to be said for a) your ability to draft better than other teams b) your ability to develop players better than other teams and c) your ability to put a much better team around that qb with the lower cap hit. I have to believe most of those QB's you named would be better if they were playing for Andy Reid. I don't personally think McNabb is better than Dak and they got to nfc title game after nfc title game with receivers nowhere near as good as CD with exception to the 1 year with TO. I don't think Goff is better than Dak but 2 coaches got to nfc title games and a Superbowl with him. Should've been 2 Superbowls. Mostly because his salary is low for a QB and they could surround him with talent and fantastic OC's. Most of the QB's you named went to franchises that are terribly run and the cupboard was empty. Btw, it seems strange to point out how hard it is to find a QB when speaking of a franchise whose last 2 qbs were an undrafted player and a 4th round pick. I'm not saying get rid of Dak just saying I don't think it's a scary as you think with the right coach.

Peyton Manning didn't win his first SB until his 9th year...Dak is on his 9th year, so give him a break, it's a team game, and just support your team and support your QB. It is what it is so quit whining and leave that to the 9ers! It's not a good look! I get the disappointment, I'm there too, but the players deserve our support! And the FO & Mgmt deserve...🦗
This year they seem as though they are "all in" on their 2nd string and PS players and are going to rely on them to step up this year. So, no monies for quality FAs, as usual...and no monies, or limited amounts of monies, will go toward the bottom feeders of FA. We seemed to have shot ourselves in the foot with the draft. With all the players the FO has decided to let go we have way too many needs than we do picks therefore opening ourselves up to all other teams. I realize they have a lot of contracts happening all at once this year, but there needs to be more creativity, other than kicking monies down the road, but JJ & SJ are so conservative, I'm afraid they don't know how to be creative (JJ used to be, but SJ has never been) and therefore we af!

Besides Mahomes Fairly young, bright futures I feel you can't be scared to find greatness if that means to suck for awhile just so you find the right one rather then just settle for good especially with a team that looks like it can't carry the load for the QB like a Brock Purdy were not the 49ers we have glaring holes all over the team were in a rough spot do you think Dak can carry the load for all the holes on the team? plus Dak is 31 there's a good chance Dak retires within 5 years with his build he even broke his leg can't really run anymore so even if he is so great like people say you only have him for like what 4 more years that's if the Cowboys want to keep him till 35 I think after a decade we kinda get what a guy is we cant even have a dynasty at this point at Daks age. Look at the Chiefs they have the next goat and might be set up to win championships for years he won early on they're already a dynasty and will win a lot more to come... imagine if they stayed with Alex Smith who was good, ignore the injury but imagine if they stayed with him... imagine if Green Bay stayed with Aaron Rodgers... imagine if the 49ers stayed with Jimmy Garoppolo... at some point you got find the young cheap great thing and you'll have more success in the playoffs I believe

Problem is people think QB’s should be paid based on there worth and getting them to a SB, thats only a part of the reason they get 50-60 million a year. Rush surgeries, injuries, future potential all goes into it. Not to mention it’s a business, and prices go up as the market goes up. Based on Dak’s performance as an all pro last year he deserves a large contract, should it be 60 million thats up for debate. But also, who would you have replace Dak? Drafting a franchise QB that comes out and is NFL ready in the first 5 years is next to impossible, so are you willing to give up the next 3-4 seasons just to move on from Dak?
And to put it in context, you go to work everyday and get paid, imagine if your boss told you im only going to pay you for what your specific worth has contributed to bottom line growth, and if our numbers go down, we are going to decrease your pay. Notice how much better the draft is since McClay took it over. Trades and negotiations are still a shit show... who is in charge of those? The Jones. As Cowboy Fans, this is our reality.

      2. Went back to a SB with one of the most loaded rosters in football after going crazy in free agency. Stephen Jones isn't Howie Roseman and he will never do what the Eagles did. They also fell apart a year later.
      3. The Rams were also a super team that went nuts in free agency and traded for Stafford. Then they did the same thing the Eagles did the following season and haven't come close since.
      4. The Chiefs went 50 years between winning a SB and landing Mahomes. They went through 16 different QB's during that time. It wasn't just, "get rid of Alex Smith and POOF! Mahomes enters the room."
