Now if only Traxxas came out with a Bandit 4x4!
yeah, what a good idea !!!
That would be awesome!
Would be epic!!
@@E-supermoto it would be amazing. Or even a 1/8th scale buggy from Traxxas.
Вообще то Bandit это и есть Rustler
Just got the Rustler 4x4 VXL. Its absolutely amazing! It really shows what Traxxas can do with modern engineering.
However who thinks Traxxas needs to update ALL of their 2WD platforms? Bandit, Rustler 2WD, Stampede 2WD and Slash 2WD are all in need suspension revisions for improved geometry, durability and adjustability. Thumbs up if you agree, maybe Traxxas will see this and finally give us an long overdue update to these 2WD platforms.
Considering when they were designed that brushed ruled the times those cars were good for those times. Yes, it would be nice for a redesign, a good mid motor design, more balance so they are not so light in the front. Now with brushless, and more power, they do not perform well on the old engineering. Would really like a redesign of the 2wd platform, if enough customers make noise, maybe Traxxas will listen.
One more problem I forgot to add, Traxxas needs to eliminate the front and rear offsets as well, front and rear wheels need the same width, so there is no need for different wheels, they should be able to be rotated without those strange offsets.
Just bought one today, same color, brushless 4x4. This thing rips. Last one I had was from Walmart when I was 8 years old.
Had the exactly same issue with my what shaft, got a rock in there and it ate it a bit.
Most underrated rc channel for sure. Loved the unboxing video.
the rustler is a legend, i had one for my first and put a brushless motor from a slash, imo its the best traxxas vehicle
I'm totally in love with mine! It's EPIC in the snow with x4 Sand Paws :-D
Your the first to talk about the diff on all the videos I've seen on this
* you're
@@bradmc1975 oh stfu...
You post the best reviews and videos on CZcams. Make everything very clear
I’m 45 I bought me this for Christmas. It’s my first ever RC car/truck. My little nephew has The LaTrax. I figured I’d get one to do something with him together. Hopefully we both enjoy will report back after opening up on Christmas Day.
I’m loving it.
npgSymboL I got a couple the wifey took but I’m not good at editing but I’ll try putting a few clips together.
Although I was disappointed when it was announced that it was basically just another Slash 4x4, I understand why they did it. It's a proven platform and it performs amazing! Great truck, great video!
definitely not a slash 4x4 platform. handles way better, and it's lighter
way different design, better chassis and has a way nicer look to it. I have the 4x4 vxl with the lights and it's by far better than my slash and erevo in handling.
@@jakobsinamon1683 While I agree they are technically a little different, likely length and width wise, they are the same design. Take a look at the rustler 4x4 chassis (TRA6723R) vs the LCG slash 4x4 chassis (TRA7422) and you'll see what I mean.
Haven't mastered this new body mount system lol it takes me forever to get the body on.
Same. It's a PITA. Give me body clips any day.
slow mkv I tip for the body i learnt was pull the sides out of the body at the front it makes it a lot easier to clip it in also the self righting is useless it ruins your driveshafts
Pancouver venguins took me 1 day to get it down so i feel u but once u get it down its so great
@@trevorrees1764 Same here. The Xmaxx system works great. The Rustler, not so much.
Great video! I actually took mine to an indoor carpet track and it did pretty well. I pop a shock cap and bend a shock cap. That is the weak point in my opinion. I like it with the 17t on 3s. It has great speed and you can control it in the air and do backflips!
If you run the 17t that's not for stop and go. But speed runs or no? Does it run well for bashing on the 17t? Been hesitant to try it.
@@kcmichelson4528do not bush on 17T pls:) You are gonna burn ur motor, it is only for speed runs
This is the one I want and the x-maxx of course! Slowly saving. Thank you for the review and all you do!
That’s funny u posted today cus i posted my bash n my buddy said my video reminded him of ur type of running videos n here u r with the same truck n bashing in a spot that looks like where i was bashing
Just picked up my ruslter 4x4 vxl today and after my first run through two packs one 2s and one 3s I'm extremely impressed, it was a tough debate between this or the senton blx or the losi tenacity since they re all in the same price range. I got a savox servo to throw in it tonight too. I launched it a bunch today and it held up great and it's really smooth feeling, I've also heard people say the velineon gets hot on 3s but mine was fine I ran it hard on 3s and the motor was probably 120 degrees maybe, I could hold my fingers on it as long as I wanted without burning me so I don't know what people are talking about maybe buts their gearing, oh and people saying the velineon could have been higher kv and is too slow ar crazy I haven't even put the 17t on and on 3s was doing like 60ft wheelies on sand lol it's a beast and no need for a faster motor, plus the higher the kv the hotter it runs in my experience so a 5000+kv or whatever would definitely run hot.
Great review! Really impressed with your bench analysis and then footage of dirt track stuff! Well done!
Just dropped the Traxxas sledgehammer tires in mine plus a bunch of other hop ups. The tires changed the whole character of the car. 3s is almost too much I have more fun with 2s. People said I may over heat with the new tires but hasn’t happened yet. I did upgrade the servo to a proline and it turns those big tires no problem.
As fun as this thing is though I’m always scoping out the erevo 2.0. 😂
A Bandit 4x4 done right would be awesome
yesterday i picked up the brushed version from my local hobby shop and this thing is sick! picture/video dont do it justice, theres so many updates on this, HEX hardware all round WIN.
Young Pocket lmao why would you buy brushed
I was gonna get the slash 4x4 for my 1st RC till this came out. 😍
Did you get it?! I want one or a maxx will also be my first ec
Hitler 464 i recommended u get a brushed slash or bandit or rustler for ur first rc and then if u want more power get a brushless motor/ESC
Jason Lustig isn’t a brushed more maintenance? I don’t really have time to be working on it all the time
Hitler 464 it’s not really more maintenance it’s just not as durable like it’s not really waterproof like a brushless except with a brushless you will probably break more parts with all of the power but brushless is more fun because you can go faster and lots of other stuff
Yeah its great that you want one but u should probably get a 2wd, for my first i got a 2wd slash and it was the right choice, just got a 1/16 vxl merv and its pretty complicated
We both uploaded the same day, same rig, same style filming, same terrian. Great minds think alike Greg
U even have the same background music i had but deleted n reuploaded cus i had it on my rustler skatepark vid n wanted it to be different, my skatepark rustler vid rc sparks commented on
@@STEVOD313 LOL, I only use CZcams music too. Don't want to deal with the scammers trying to say whatever music I use is theirs and causing problems. CZcams music isn't the best, but there are no issues.
RCDriver_Online exactly
i am a traxxas fan and i watch your videos and also i rally like the rustler 4x4 vxl.
Just got mine and I simply love it!
Nice video Greg I've been waiting for a really good description of this car because I was thinking about going out and picking it up I have a two-wheel Stampede and I use it mainly for Speed but this one would be really good because it's the four-wheel drive version smaller Compact and it's really fast so I feel like it says this is like one of the best Traxxas trucks that you can probably get out there for a first starter a vehicle.
I bought the brushed version , dropping in a Blx combo .
Did that on my slash 4x4
Get rid of the rear bumper and put a stampede 4x4 rear bumper and arrma wheelie bar wheels
hehe, i tink i follow you on insta
Same here.
BLX and win but look out for broken parts especially if it wants to compete with Arrma 50 feet long and 35 feet high jumps and chassis slaps.
I've put like 60 packs thru my Traxxas steel cvds.. All 4 on my 3s stampede 4x4.. Those are hands down the best cvds I've found. Better than mip better than the aluminum ones. This truck definitely needs em or your gonna shred those axles
My favorite part is when you edited the part where you try to put the quick connect body on after you take the plastic off
Ok the traxxas udr used to be my favorite but the traxxas 4x4 rustler is now my favorite i mean the price is great to and the size is perfect it's not to small not to big
another great video very informative been looking at getting one
I love mine. The only real weakness is the shock caps.
I went to The Pro-Line Powerstroke shocks, and already can tell they are better than stock.
Plus they are aluminum, and more sturdy.
Thank You for not using Heavy Metal Music !
Just ordered mine. Next week is going to be fun!
Thank you for your review, really helpful.
You gonna spend money so i wanna give u all the information...
big thanks mate big thanks
Picked up mine three weeks ago, and have been having a blast with it. I've been out of 4-wheeled RC for many, many years (been flying helos & drones in more recent years), but am VERY glad to be back in the game...and, the new Rusty couldn't have been a better way to rejoin. I haven't replaced the pinion gear...yet...but I've already got a few upgrades on the way - Traxxas F/R driveshafts, Traxxas F/R sway bars (designed for the Slash, but should easily fit the Rusty), plus Pro-Line shocks & springs. However, the first "upgrade"...one I highly recommend others do...was installing the ESC cooling fan. Next will be replacing the Tx & Rx with Sanwa or Futaba, followed by (in no particular order) the motor, ESC, servos, and other chassis parts (replacing the plastic parts with steel/aluminum parts). As cool as the body graphics are, I really disliked the blue/green, so I went with the blue/red...but I still prefer something different, thus I ordered the blue/black body (TRA6718X), and will order the clear body (to create my own design, to be used for racing only). No matter how ytou look at it, the new Rustler 4x4 VXL is a "magical beast" just waiting to be unleashed.
Regarding the "rock that ground down the center driveshaft", I have a possible idea for a deflector. There are 5 holes in front of that area. The middle is useless for this purpose, and the 2 'high' holes are probably to mount the telemetry extender box...but, those 2 'low' holes could be perfect mounting points for a custom-made deflector. I just might have to give this idea a try.
I just got this truck it's so fun and fast love it👍👍
I just got one of the traxxas rustler 4x4 vxl it is awesome the only thing is the bottom shock part #(3768) it just came off really easy but easy fix just annoying it keep coming off
@RCDriver_Online nice video as always vey informative. I am going to get mine soon and I have no idea which lipo 3s battery and charger should I buy for it. I am looking to use the high speed pinion. Thanks in advance.
Ill stick with my vxl brushless 2wd, wheelies are fun.
SLASH 2.O what a disappoint! SERIOUSLY TOO!
@@wojtek-33 That's my point exactly ! Think about it...
i have spent 3 hours watching this 6 times
Traxxas Rustler 4+4 vs Arma Typhon 3s BLX for a newbie??? No (BIAS) please
Id say Rustler. Mainly due to ease of repairs, and the parts are everywhere and cheap. But either way you would love it.
Long live the Rustler!
Is this thing a good basher? Seems kinda small for those dirt tracks which kinda puts me off. Kickin up dirts the best thing to do with an rc car!
Tell traxxas they need to offer platinum edition for every model even the 2wd ones.
Great video, thanks. So you ran it off road with 3s and 17t pinion with no heat issues? No extra cooling?
Nice one this rustler look so good i need one
They should make a rustler 4x4 ultimate
This was a great video! Although I'm now a little confused on which model to buy next lol. This Rustler looks awesome.
I got the rustler 4 x 4 last week and I love it. Which one did you end up getting?
@@MrMetz2112 This was quite a while ago, however I ended up getting an Arrma Outcast 4S. It's been great and I love it. Hope you enjoy your Rustler. I still may get one of those in the future.
Would it be possible to put a Baja bug body on the new rustler with its clipless system? Would the self righting work?
They should do a feature that switches out between 4x4 and 2wD
That’s called removing the 4wd driveshaft lol it’s 4 screws
Car at 5:27
Thanks
I always wanted a rustler 4x4. Would have bought that instead of my stampede and slash
Love your Videos! very good work. thank you !!
Love this truck. I've been having a blast with it. Tons of videos on my channel. Nice video bud.
This is a Stadium Truck but in a Track? How it performs?
cool
Do a review on the legendary rc cars they are relatively cheap so to speak entry level
I just saw your review of this truck cause I entered a raffle to win one. Now I am excited if I win what I am going to receive
Would love some stickers for my builds and would love to brag about you at my track. Banners stickers anything to spread quality
Thanks for this upload Greg. I want one! 🇳🇱😉👍
For the money it costs it would be nice to get aluminum bodied shocks or at the very least adjustable shocks. Just seems so 2005 imo. Very dated especially at this price point.
theres dust covers on amazon for around $30.
what gearing have you been using on your rustler to keep motor cool on off-road bashing
Could any thing brake off
Traxxas plug.. nice and easy.. hmmm🤔i more see it as hey.. you bought our car..now you can buy our charger for our batteries...
Wich battery u useing Libo or Nihim something like dat
Great vid as always, love the self right. 👍💪👍
Nice I'm getting one this week
If I got one I'd put the stampede 4x4 rear bumper and and some arrma wheelie bar wheels on it like I did to my slash 4x4 truggy
The Rustler 4x4 was my idea
1 month before preorder I got the brushless 2wd
Does this have same differentials at the 4×4 slash or slash ultimate? I hope someone can answer this. Im torn between this and the slash ultimate. I like rpm parts over the aluminum. Harder on the chassis and everything unless you got 1000 for all CNC machined aluminum from chassis to everything all integy t6 hardened aluminum. Oh and why couldn't traxxas go with gtr shocks for this? Everything is better except that. Maybe they'll do a rustler 4×4 ultimate
I heard that if you try and flip the car back over on its wheels by using the self flipping system is hard on the motor so i wouldn't try it
It’s hard on the gears not the motor
Cool truck I’ve been thinking about getting one
clodbusted u dont like traxxas lol, i did a bash video with mine this morning n uploaded today too
why is it revo spec, it looks just like my slash, except it comes with the pad upgrade stock lol does it still have plastic bearing carrier or is the aluminum one come stock?
Will the Caster blocks on the new rustler 4 by 4 fit on the old 2 wheel Drive VXL they look like they could interchange and I found Parts online that are cheaper but made better but I don't know if they will fit on the rustler but they are the exact setup that this rustler has
does the included tool kit include all the sizes needed for working on the truck?
I just purchased this and a typhon for mine and my kids first “real” rc. For the Rustle I have a traxxas 2s and 3s batteries. Huge difference between the two. I don’t know much at all about Rc and trying to learn. So far we love it. Can this go bigger than a 3s battery to go faster? Any tips on learning for beginners?
look at your gearing and google heaps of stuff
or go old school and ask someone face to face
i think the rustler has a training mode
Anyone have problems with the slipper clutch in these rustlers? I know the kriton 4S has a horrible slipper clutch that can unscrew itself within a few batteries worth of run time
Great Video!
shocks look like my slash. Body attaches like my E-R2 Tires seem ok for the power it has.
Modular? Maybe not.
Modular vs Arrma 3s trucks? Not so much.
+sorry to be another guy hooked at Arrma with enough Traxxas, Arrma and Redcat trucks on my shelf.
Love this vehicle no doubt, will it be sexy Traxxas ......
or expand beyond and take some real beatings like Traxxas competition?
@@wojtek-33 I live on the Arrma forum. So yeah.
Very nice car
Got it and love it
Cool car
Whats better this or slash 4×4? What about this or platinum slash 4×4
Would the esc ideally need a fan for 3s?
why LCG? the chassis is slapping the whole run
@@wojtek-33 lol its a slash with a rustler body
@@crazyphone100 No its a rustler 4x4 vxl
u can always tune the suspension
Put washers on the shocks to make it higher
@@tomv3361 i had put the collars on mine to raise the height in the back, then i realized the suspension only sags if the car is still when it takes off and is running, the car sits higher so now i think the collars arent really necessary.
What's up fellas... I'm a beginner and looking for a good solid car that's fast and won't break so easily. I'm looking at the jlb cheetah and this traxxas rustler vxl... which is better over all?
I just got this and ran it for 10 minutes...lost a portion of right rear driveshaft.
Fixed that and after the next 20 minutes damaged right front arm.
It's fast as hell and I know I'll love it but, so far I'm disappointed that everytime I touch it, it breaks and I'm not going as hard as I see other CZcamsrs going on it.
I'm going through the same thing with the Slash vxl. Play, break, fix, repeat. And I'm not bashing near as hard as I see on CZcams.
Get the steel driveshafts, as the driveshafts are the weak points in this car.
Do it flip like crazy? Had a rustler and couldn't enjoy it
I just got thAt truck
Nice review! 👍👍👍
If 1/10th scale truggies ever take off, then I will probly get one.
What do you think is the best basher for around 400-450$ I am looking for something that is hopefully brushless or can upgrade to brushless within the price, and recommendations?
If we could see the actual speed by standing in one place instead of the artful shots that would be great. Just a couple views of the camera in one place. Thanks appreciate it.
okay, for 400 im fucking impressed, i've been looking around but THIS caught my eye and i immediately went to order
What truck would you buy for a first timer?
I like the Rustler 2WD
Amazing review..
Dose your body pop off from the front body mount
