The chemistry between these two is rare, they’re both talented, but 2gether they made iconic films, making them icons in the process. It’s no surprise that these 2 are friends in real life.
Joe Pesci and Robert De Niro were such wonderful actors. They were smart, alert, and in touch with their characters' emotions. Never any more actors quite like Joe Pesci and De Niro.
This is one of the many scenes that make this movie so memorable; Joey LaMotta's struggle when trying to cope with his brutish brother Jake, aka, the Bronx Bull. Topnotch performances by everybody involved in this great movie.
The acting in this movie, Scorsese really captures humanity in such a vulnerable light, you can feel the emotions in the characters. You can feel the passion when Jake first meets his wife and you can feel the anger and paranoia, the hostility that he feels, also the way that he shows us how men treated women and their wives.
A shout if to the director Marty - for such a masterpiece. Top three best performances of Di Niro. Was impossible to pull it off without Marty and Pesci.
too bad the volume was so faint that no one can really appreciate it. might as well have been totally silent or just static. real lost opportunity. hopefully someone else uploads the scene with good audio...not good actually...just normal.
lamotta himself said he was always having to binge diet to get to weight, amazing he could be so tough after putting his body thru that fight after fight.
According to Vicki Jake was using STEROIDS thst were given to him by his sawbones. She said that's why he was irritable and the juice made it almost impossible to make weight!
@Guillermo Silva Yes !When I met him his head was incredibly huge!Vicki said he used steroids. That's why he was irritable non sexual and impossible to lose weight.Tbe juice!
i feels like they’re the only actors able to get me through the setting atmosphere, kind of hard for me because i’m not native english. i can feel their real life awkwardness, emotions, and sometimes scare me when they’re angry. it’s because they’re feels real.
The actress who plays Joey's wife, Theresa Saldana, suffered a very unfortunate fate soon after this movie was made when she was stabbed multiple times by a deranged man in front of her L.A. home.
the story tells that mostly everything was improve, in fact there were separated, because the camera didn't fit in that kitchen they film apart then Thelma Schoonmaker, the grand editor, did her job and you got this!
I’m surprised that comment didn’t get responses. That’s EXACTLY what’s goin on. He BECAME LaMotta to the point that the other actors were afraid of him. When i watch the movie, i don’t see DeNiro. I see Jake and it’s not 1942.

Ok. Go lower in weight to 155 and fight jenaro because there’s nobody else to fight at a heavier weight. If u win, you win. If u lose, u still win because there’s nobody else at a heavier weight.
