As do all gloves of this type and they were approved by the commission. All of your favourite fighters wear these types of gloves.
'why did they approve gloves with little padding' because they are within regulation. They don't have 'little padding', they are just padded with denser materials like Horse hair, obviously it takes a hell of a lot less horse hair than it does soft foam to meet your 8 oz weight limit. The soft foam style gloves are a newer type of glove, they've been fighting with less padded gloves since gloves were used in boxing. No fighter has any obligation to wear thick foam padded gloves unless contractually they agree to. Mayweather failed to sort out his paper work, that's why he ended up in the spot he did at that table.
Mayweather wouldn't have accepted any gloves except for thick foam padded ones as he made clear "he will wear what I'm wearing" and refused that they could both fight in brand new MX gloves. Mayweather's team didn't have an issue with that specific pair of 'defective' gloves, he had an issue with Maidana using any of the less padded variety of gloves.

They are made with horse hair and can be manipulated so he’s not lying. They put a foam layer then horse hair so they are soft but the horse hair can be altered to make it feel like there is no padding and they are sanctioned gloves. I feel like mayweather was a baby about it. Cleto Reyes gloves are the same horse hair design but have more horse hair than foam and are considered a punchers glove. You can look it up

Gabriel the gloves are legally sanctioned gloves made by everlast. Fighters use them everyday. Why would floyd pay the guy 1.5million if they weren’t? They are not an illegal glove. those gloves are padded with horse hair, so its real easy to pack down the padding in order to make them feel thin. This is why big punchers love wearing those gloves. Also why you see fighters before fight pushing gloves against the wall, in order to pad them down as much as possible.

This is all a cool story but there was DEFINITELY no padding in those gloves. I wear gloves all the time, beat the shit of them and they never go soft or flat like the gloves in the original video. You can see in that video that the gloves had no padding AT ALL. 4-5 people pushing on the gloves and hitting it with their hands will NEVER do that to gloves! There is video proof that there was no padding in the gloves and you can’t run from that just by telling a story!

sgtlegacy7 I was wondering where Maidana just disappeared to after the Mayweather fights....after listening to Robert it sounds like he sold out for the extra 1.5 and ran off to hide.
I don't see how Maidana was at the "being a stepping stone" point of his career, either, seeing as how he just beat the unbeatable, best pound-for-pound boxer in the world in his 1st fight against Mayweather. Even though he lost on the cards, anybody who isn't just a fanboy of Floyd knows Maidana won that first fight. He out landed him in what? 6 of the 12 rounds...he had him up against the ropes half the night pelting him with hard, looping overhand lefts and rights....he had the crowd going crazy the whole night and landed most all the big power shots in the fight....he roughed Floyd up and had his way with him like nobody ever has....not to mention Floyd looked like he just got in a car crash after the fight and had to wear glasses and a hat just to hide all the damage, while Maidanas face looked like he just got done sparring.
Point being Maidana would've been the top dog at welterweight if he chose to stick around. If Mayweather -- the best defensive, technical, counterpunching and overall boxer in the sport -- couldn't keep Maidana off him, who else was going to beat him? Maidana had at least a few good years left in him before he even had to worry about becoming a stepping stone for other boxers.
The reason why Maidana retired becomes pretty evident when you watch this interview and listen to Robert Garcia try to stutter his way through explaining how him selling out wasn't really selling out. Garcia let Mayweather pay him to get Maidana to use different gloves than the ones the boxing commission already approved. The gloves had less padding than the ones he ended up using.....they gave him an advantage over Mayweather because he was the puncher in the fight who relied on his power to win....Floyd got a beat down with the softer gloves Maidana wore and was up against the ropes and in trouble several times during the fight....so it stands to reason that IF Maidana & Garcia held their ground and refused to wear the softer gloves that Mayweather wanted them to wear, that Floyd would've gotten beat up even worse than he did and quite possibly KO'd or TKO'd. The fact is that Garcia & Maidana sold the advantage that those 1st gloves gave them for 1.5 million dollars when they didn't have to, and that choice to do so very likely impacted the outcome of the contest. That's the definition of selling out.

Boxing has now become a business more than proving who is the best and Chino and Robert played the game to the last moment getting more money to wear the pillows, they still had a game plan and didn't fight any different! If he sold out he would have been schooled by floyd and not given his best effort, that was not the case. As far as being a stepping stone, the last 2 images we remember of Chino is the fights with the best fighter on the planet, and he did better than the previous 47 opponents, you can argue Castillo, but Castillo never had floyd hurt like Chino. I started boxing and doing Muay Thai when I was 15 I am 27 now I’ve had amateur fights under my belt obviously not pro and not at the level of Mayweather but what I have learned that the gloves are there to protect your hands not your opponents face. I think Chino won the first fight. At the end of the day it is what it is.
