- Thankyou for watching Adi's Little Shedshop, It's a little late I know but here is a gift I made my niece before Christmas and didn't want to spoil the surprise before the big day.
So I started with the Plywood, I selected it for the patination on it as it makes a change for Ply to be anything but "BORING", then I had this pattern on my phone and I have had it for atleast 2 phones, so I have absolutely no idea where I got it from unfortunately. Anyway I wanted to make my niece something nice as we had got her a couple of bits for Xmas and I always try to make the people that are close to us something handmade, if not me then it's Mrs Shedshop that makes the gift.
It's a plain and simple project but I think it is quite impactful and can be quite beautiful, especially depending on the finish that is added to it. Now I was going to paint it in the original black shadow effect but really liked the grain pattern in the wood and thought that it might look good being burnt, but after looking at it I realised it really just needed a good amount of lacquer on it, which is exactly what I did, I depleted my can of lacquer and it ended up with a very glassy effect, unfortunately I did forget to take any photos of it after it was done but trust me when I say it looked beautiful.
