Welcome to Adi's Little Shedshop and thankyou for watching.
Todays video is all about FREE WOOD! and is it worth the time and effort of taking it apart meticulously or should you just leave it to being scrapped?
Well I suppose it all comes down to what type of wood, how old it is, how well it's been looked after and where it has been stored. If you get a piece of furniture that someone is throwing away, maybe you wish to turn it into something completely different from what they thought it was being donated for, then you probably shouldn't tell them that you intend to take it apart in the first place. Obviously there is the argument against just throwing something in the bin when it can be reused for other purposes is a much more preferred method of waste removal.
There is other things to take into account, mostly the price of new wood in your area or country, in the UK at the moment it is unbelievably expensive at the moment for new wood of "furniture" quality, so you really have to take a few things into account.
Now my thoughts are "MEH" its free which means as long as it didn't cost much to get it and in time and petrol this cost less then 30mins and not even £1 to collect so I'm winning, in my head. What I always forget about is holes from screws and nails but they can be filled easily and if there is enough wood without any just use that which is more likely what will happen.
BEWARE!! Of those that claim it's one kind of wood and when you turn up you find out it is just MDF stained or veneered, that really gets my back up, but then I have to remind myself that people sometimes don't know what they are looking at. Like this beautiful cabinet that I picked up once that was described as SOLID OAK. I needed Oak at the time and was so happy when they offered it to me, but when we picked it up it was just veneered MDF with the smallest amount of Oak on it, it was in a word unusable, but it was ok because Mrs S loved the look of it so we kept it as one piece and still use it today.
That was a bonus and the only way to keep it.

I reckon with all that wood you could make a half decent desk ..

Use the sides, top and panels, work it down to a smaller size ! Re-size the draws to fit, smaller as a storage unit, for bits and pieces and odds and sods.

Another thought has just come to me, free wood ? If you can find anyone who's breaking caravans, the boards underneath the cushions I think are marine grade ply ??
Would that work ?? For you.
    Cheers Les.
