My girlfriend passed away very suddenly a couple of weeks ago and I was on my own in a bar drinking...and this song came on, which I hadn't heard before. Blur were my favourite band as a child but hadn't listened to them in a years. Hearing an old familiar voice singing a beautiful song like this was so special, like an old friend reaching out to you when you need it the most.
Damon had so much success as a young man that his confidence, naturally, bordered on arrogance...seeing him transform back into humility over time, despite continued success, is perhaps the most satisfying of all the blur narratives...i rate this song so highly, it's brilliant
When this song was first released on Spotify, I was shocked to see Damon was recording new Blur tracks when I had been to a Gorillaz concert just a few months prior. Even more surprised when Blur released the next song. Triple blown away when seeing Blur was touring. Does Damon ever rest? His soul is so full of Divine frequency; constantly creating. This track is excellent. Thanks, Blur! ❤
Life is short and I think once you get to 50 life around you reinforces what you put to the back of your mind your youth...rightfully so too. Damon probably wants to be as creative as he can in his chosen musical career as time allows.
I live in Argentina. I was stuck on traffic a couple of weeks ago. Scrolling apple music I found that Blur released a new record. I have listened to it many times, and has brought so much memories. Since then, I started to listen all Blur's records, every day. All that music was my companion through university and so much more. From the bottom of my heart, I love those guys. I'm so grateful for all the music they have managed to land in my heart and soul.

@@rkid727 Maybe, but I stand by it. Oasis are one of the most overrated bands in recent memory in my opinion. Some of the most bland and generic songwriting in contemporary rock music, anchored by absolutely irritating vocals. The ongoing feud between the two brothers, was the only remotely interesting thing about them, and even that got tiresome after while, with them coming across like incredibly petulant children.
Sometimes you hear a song for the very 1st time and instantly love it. This is one of them. Others from my memory that stand out are 'Smells like teen spirt' Nirvana, 'across the universe' beatles, 'Afterglow' the Small Faces, 'are we here ' Orbital, 'how soon is now" Smiths to name a few..All different yet all hit the spot. Brilliant.
Goosebumps every time. A perfect meditation on performance, devoid of the usual self-pity such songs usually contain. No, 'oh, woe is me," simply "here's what I've done, and here's what I've learned," without condescension or regret. It's as good a song as Blur's ever written, and it's certainly the best rock song I've heard so far in 2023. This record makes me happy.
I keep coming back for this performance. You can even hear Damon's subtle crunch guitar parts too, especially with good headphones (it's panned a bit to the left).
When I'm in "the mood" this is one of my favourite songs ever by Blur and from any band in the last 20 years. Blur but middle-aged (in a very good way)
This track is so personal to Damon. It kinda makes you feel like you're intruding on his private life. But, it's the best track this year so far, so you just have to listen, and again, and again ❤❤
There’s way too much drum machine(for me) in the album. What happened to the good old acoustic drum kit in albums?! It’s gives more of a raw edge to it. Shame.
It is nice to see Blur return to top form - they can certainly can write and make a brilliant song - I was lucky to get a golden ticket for their Saturday night Wembley show - it was absolutely gorgeous - the energy in that stadium was a joy to behold.
My six year old daughter loves this song since the day she listened to it for the first time. She got hooked on it. It must be because of its perfection.
so good to see a proper band......playing proper music.........just lovely...musicians....and song writers........making music.......with heart....and soul........just lovely...
Song of the year. One of their best. The lyrics are just beautiful. Oh, glorious world, Oh, potent waves, valleys gone wild, Connect us to love, And keep us peaceful for a while.
Honestly the first time I heard it on the radio I felt something was missing, but then every time I listened the deeper it got inside me. Now that I've seen them playing and felt their passion it definitely touched my heart. Thanks so much for your art, always. Abrazos desde Argentina
It’s been fourteen years since I saw them for the first and so far only time in Hyde Park but I’d happily go see them again. His is a great, catchy song.
In my humble opinion, for me it is one of the best songs written by blur, perfect lyrics and melody...
Hoy escuchè el disco y efectivamente me parece de las mejores canciones de esta epoca.-
Totally agree, it's bloody brilliant
It took me a while to get into, but I keep going back to it.
Nah, you're just moved by the performance. It's an ok song. Not even close to their peak.
Correct
This song is the ultimate grower. Was underwhelmed the first time I heard it and has just gradually got better and better. Absolutely love it now
Same thing for me too.
Same.
I loved it immediately but hopefully the rest of the album is a grower because for now I’m underwhelmed except for Ballad
And that how radio works. I really like it just listened now. Great performance 👏
true.

Condolences brother ❤ RIP
Bullshit
It’s fucking crazy how good they still are.

I'm kinda surprised the performance doesn't have more views
@@alistairproductionsppl don't know what they're missing lol
Awesome way of phrasing it
One of, if not the, best Blur song. Thinking man’s pop.

He’s also writing an opera!!
and we started the year with an album by graham in the waeve and the debut of dave...
Damon lives for music! Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Platinum member 👏
The more I hear this song, the more I love it.
I don't know why, but I love that Damon is playing one of Graham's signature Fender telecasters.
una muestra de cariño.
This track is an all time Blur classic
Who can believe after all these years this is the best stuff they have ever put out....

One of the best songs I've heard in decades.
That song is an absolute masterpiece. I love it .
Nothing makes me happier than these guys getting back together and having a blast.
What a proper rock tune
My 3 yr old loves the chorus and sings along with me when i played this. My first love was Blur and 30 years later it seems he is following into his dads footsteps.
I strive to be like you
My 6 year old daughter does the same 😊
Can’t say I know everything about Blur like I do Oasis, but this tune is up there. Can’t get enough of it. Catchy. Meaning. Guitars. It’s got it all.
Same here. I'm "Oasis team" all the way but this song is amazing!
The key thing to know about Blur is that they're like Oasis, if Oasis were actually good.

@@Solarstar10 That’s fine. I compliment Blur and you crap on Oasis. Class.
This song is class! Never been a huge blur fan. This song is genius 👏
It’s been a long long time I’ve listened to a song on repeat. It’s like it’s 95 again. Fantastic song. Damon sings it very well live.
one of the best singles of 2023. just great. love from new york city.
Damon Albarn can always and forever get it. He intrigues me in every way and I just love him and all his talents.
Bless be the band, Blur!
I have tears in my eyes to see Damon on the stage singing this song. It felt in that moment I've loved him since before I was born.

Well said, totally agree.
I read your post as goosebumps were rising on my arms. Superb!
I thought this was catchy from the first listen but the more I hear it, the more moving the lyrics become too... Blur have still got it!
Definitely
Hi I recommend A song called 'the bond villain' by Robert Nix
This is so well mixed, wow. Amazing sound and performance all round!
love this melancholic blur era

Best thing out there right now. The album is incredible.
The best song of 2023!
Absolutely , it's a proper song written with heart and soul and there's some magic captured in there , a rare thing nowadays.

Magic stuff, Blur never disappointed to the fans. ❤️
They really hit the ground running with their comeback. It's like they were never away ❤
Masterpiece! Oldy goldy Blur
New album out Friday !

That is so Fugging good live.. Killed it
I must have watched this 93 times so far. Superb. Blur are up there with the best ever.
Still sounding great as always.

Best song of the 2020s so far, I reckon. One of few I put on repeat.

What a tune. An absolute metric fuck ton of heart.
This isn't just a good song.....this is the best song I have heard in years and one of Blurs best!
Holy shit this song crushes. So beautiful.
Top track..quality never fades
Just learned this song this morning. Love it.
Love Graham’s chiming guitar. Makes this song even better

Definitely one of my favourite top 10 Blur songs. Like most Blur songs, it sounds so much better live.
This feels like a U2 song. I can imagine Bono singing this with Edge doing those Graham back up vocals x
This is the song of the year.
What a song!!! Unreal that Damon is able to release 2 amazing albums the same year
This Is the best Song of new album
They’re just brill aren’t they!! May they never stop making and playing music…
Possibly one of their best songs now, love to see them still releasing hits like this one
Its defo got that 90s feel captured so well. Reminds me of The Strokes as well. Fantastic
And a little Interpol thrown in for good measure
Literally just came here after watching some old live interpol videos haha @HerveBoisde
Song of the year. One of their best. The lyrics are just beautiful. Oh, glorious world, Oh, potent waves, valleys gone wild, Connect us to love, And keep us peaceful for a while.

This rocks! Sounding better than ever! 🤘🤘🤘
The song on the album I keep replaying, unbelievable writing.
Absolutely brilliant. Can't get it out of my head.
What a comeback! Great tune
I love them and I love their new album, every song is timeless, nostalgic and just beautiful - can't wait to see them play this tomorrow 😍
Phenomenal song, one of their best. Makes me wish more than anything that it was 1995 again.
Brilliant song.
They've still totally got it! 🔥🔥🔥
Been listening to this on repeat since it came out, guess I've found my favorite Blur song, live version is great!
Gracias por volver❤ vengan a Ecuador! :😊
Brilliant song
the best song by blur
Just a beautiful song....
Love this song. One of the best British bands and a band that defined the 90s. On another note, is Damon morphing into Graham or what lol
A song about a version of myself, of my age, of our dilemmas . Thank you Blur for such sharp vision
Its just absolutely class
Been away for years and come bak with this 👌
Amazing. Not sure about the rest of the album yet, but this song is 10/10. Barbaric is the only other track that stood out on my first listen
It gets better in every new listening, keep trying, you'll see.
Better to take in the lyrics than expect head banging tunes
Its sooooo good to have the mighty Blur back with a new album 😀😀
one of their best. great song!!
The true kings of “Brit Pop”.
Fantastic song and a testament to how good they are
Another absolute stoke of genius. Love it.

Great band, God bless them x
It's quite funny that after 30 years Graham's glasses have passed to Damon
What a bloody top song 🎉
Pleasantly surprised by this. Well done lads.

It’s been fourteen years since I saw them for the first and so far only time in Hyde Park but I’d happily go see them again. His is a great, catchy song.
I love that on Damon's right plays Graham and in Damon's hands plays Graham's signature Telecaster.
Record of the year 2023, to knock this out live like this is so impresive
