Luxury Mercedes based motorhome : Hymer B690

- At both the Stuttgart CMT and Dusseldorf Caravan Salon, Mercedes showcases a number of RVs made by its clients. At Stuttgart CMT in January 2020, it chose the Hymer B690 which can be seen in this video. It is a lovely motorhome but one which comes with a six figure price tag.
I live in a motorhome full time and travel around Europe in it. I spend most of my time in Poland, Germany and Italy. Vanlife is my life.
In my CZcams channel, I present reviews of recreational vehicles. I do this by regularly attending trade events such as CMT Stuttgart, Abenteuer und Allrad, Caravan Salon Dusseldorf, Warsaw Caravan and Camping Show and sometimes others.
I cover equipment, including 12v electrical equipment and talk a lot about lithium batteries.
I also show some of the places I have visited in Europe in my own motorhome, as well as the places you can stay at! I try to give as much coverage as I can to official campsites and free places which I use for overnighting. Therefore you can find here the aire or stellplatz that you are possibly looking for.

What a lovely space saving project, it is quite economic and ideal for anyone planning to travel. Tired of having a house without wheels, spending money at hotels, this is the great solution for your freedom. Loved the concept. Very good design.

This Hymer with Mercedes base is really nice
I like long/ deep draws that come right out at hip level in the kitchen far easier to get to stuff.

Fits three batteries that's good, seems plenty worktop with boards down. Still prefer overhead cabins though because they're cozy and it greatly contributes to utilising the full length of a van together with front swivel seats and when you close the lower cabin off its much warmer.
Great video & it's Amazing,,, I'm about to do an about face with Hymer,, but only pertaining to this particular RV. It's a winner!!
Alan,, this is perfect for you,, with it's own Beer fountain. LOL Seriously though,, I cannot find one interior Faux pas with this RV. Lovely warm tones, comfy lounge and the table is sharp,, nice tie-in with Kitchen counter. Sleeping quarters are wonderful and the wardrobe hangers can be changed. The flooring is bright and ties in with lounge cushions. All cabinets work well with each other. Nice storage.
The downer,, is that it sits on an MB Chassis,, which is where the cost really takes effect.
You have no idea how badly I would like to see the underneath bellies of these babies..
No ladders are ever added in back to check roof tops & seals. why not?
Michael wouldn't mind if you had all his albums on your videos. On the kontrary, he'd be pleased. I kan assure that. His father on the on the other hand. Still, I like the kolour in this motorhome, very kalming.

Obviously an underfloor helps to keep a van warm, underfloor storage especially of particularly heavy objects aids stability of the vehicle but requires bending down to get to them. The shelves in some lockers seem far too thick on some vans?
What do you think about hydraulic leveling jacks??? Also...your opinion..."truma sapphire or roof a/c"??And their price?
On the levelling jacks I don't know enough to have an opinion. I have managed for 11 years without them, one might question if the costs justifies them in a small van. As for AC - I would give it a miss, instead use fans. The problem with AC is power and unless you are planning on being on campsites all the time, it is not going to work.

I hope you keep the Hymer product in Europe. Hymer did try and sell Hymer products in North America and went bust. Now Hymer owned by Thor. I would not touch there products. If you want quality by Leisure Van made in Canada by Triple E. that is quality Hymer no so much.
Hymer North America is now owned by Rapido.
@@VanlifewithAlan actually you are only part correct. Roadtrek was purchased by Hymer a few years ago and was run to the ground and went broke. after that Rapido purchased the crums and all the rest was sold off. Rapido only started making unit a few month ago. Prior to Hymer coming to North America with factories employing 600 workers was doing just fine. But Hymer ruined the entire operation. Now Rapido is a very small operation and frankly I have yet to see one of there unit on the road. This was a very sad time for a company like Roadtrek that had a stellar reputation. Now Thor purchased the European Hymer lets see what happens with that division now.

Is it on a 3.5 ton chassis?
It can be - it weighs just over three tonnes off the top of my head. It can be put on 4,500kg also.

Depends on the equipment package but starting at around EUR100k.
