    Such a wonderful family... All three generations are so courteous and loving towards each other and are so in sync.
    On the other hand, it was really "gutsy" of the attendant to try to force a gown almost double their budget by saying "a little over budget". Thank God that the family didn't fall for it.

    The pink dress, it was absolutely horrible. Her entourage reaction was not mocking, but honest and caring. And the bride herself was ecstatic that everyone felt the same way about the dress so she could laugh and have the stress of meeting that dress style out if the way!
    I do think putting a bride in a dress that is over budget is unexcusable!! Mom clearly stated $1,500 and maybe a 'little' wiggle' room. Not double the price. I've watched enough episodes to know there are plenty of princess ballgowns that are less expensive and still so beautiful.

    If I went to a bridal shop and told them my budget and they brought me a dress even a hair over my budget I would not want to spend a penny at their establishment. If you cannot find a dress in your shop within a reasonable budget such as 1500, then you are not the right shop. I love this show but the number of times this particular boutique has completely neglected the brides budget and call it “just a tad over budget” is appalling. I also cannot stand when they pull dresses well over the brides budget then look to the entourage to cover the difference as though it was the entourage who put them into this predicament.

    Me: “girl have I got a bargain for you, this is exactly what you’re looking for and it’s $300 under budget, let’s get you in and out in time for brunch”.

      Wedding dress consultants often make a good chunk of their income on commission, so it's kind of in their own best interest to try and upsell at least a little with each client. The shop expects it, but they're relying on it, too.

    It makes me so happy to see the ladies of someone's life come together to show support.
    I bought my dress online on a whim from a fancy boutique. While I ultimately missed the experience of trying on tons of dresses, I really wanted my adoptive mom, mother-in-law, and my biological mom to be there for me and show that I had nothing to fear on my wedding day when I went to a bridal shop to try it on with all the duds. I say this because my adoptive and biological mothers couldn't be more....different..and with a tumultuous past concerning my adoption and my father, I was scared the tension was gonna be palpable. The only one who showed up was my biological mom. So, it sucks I'll never be able to share a moment like this with my adoptive mom. But I honestly feel so happy for the women on these shows who have an army at their back, ready to support them. I cant wait to be that for my kid someday, suit or dress ❤

If you look back on the dress with regret, then I think it probably wasn't what you wanted in the first place. Whether the dress is timeless or dated, you should look back and feel that, yes, it was what you wanted then and it's fine.

    Top tip for brides buying from David Emmanuel's shop: when they ask you what your budget is, tell them a figure that's at least £500 LESS than your *real* budget. That way, you might walk out with something that's only a couple of hundred over. 🤨

    The show "something borrowed something new", its people (Kelly and Sam) are in US. If there were people in UK doing a similar job, mom and nan would have went to them in order to transform their dresses to go along with the times, and design it according to how the bride wants to look on her wedding day.

    I loved the entire crew here! How fortunate was the bride to bring them to the appointment, I had wished to do the same but my grandma is gone 😭 So happy to watch a very joyful crew, laughing without disrespecting the bride, really concerned about her, with honesty and confidence to help her, with wonderful feedback. I have a serious doubt: What does the last dress have that too many brides, scripted o not, tend to choose it and smile sincerely? An idea?

    • @thekingsdaughter4233
      @thekingsdaughter4233 Před 2 lety +1

      @@joyfuljaj absolutely! When I shopped for mine, I wasn't aware of that; but the consultant twisted my hair up with a clip they had on hand, in a mock updo. The difference it made!! :-) It's so hard to see with a jeans-and-tshirt look (hair flat and down, no makeup...) what a big dress would look like.

    • @joyfuljaj
      @joyfuljaj Před 2 lety

      @@thekingsdaughter4233 I have short hair but usuall still wear it partially pulled back. I have wondered how much my lack of self tanner would make because I always like how I look better with a slightly less than normal pasty appearance! Not that all customers pay attention, but they also ask you to avoid the tanner and heavy makeup in order to not get it all over the samples. I hope I can have the wedding dress experience one day - even if it is shopping with a friend for their dress.
