If you’re a pet owner you need to be the one to take your pet in to the vet and be there in the room with them when they are being put down. I understand how painful it is lose them and why people don’t want to be in the room but I asked my vet what the toughest part of her job is and she said it was watching people’s pets spending the last few moments of their life frantically searching the room for their owners while basically having a panic attack and it’s the most heartbreaking thing ever… please be there for them until the very end, they don’t deserve to die alone in devastation, confusion and fear.
Honestly, this. The owner is a coward. You really have someone else take your pet to put them down? That’s pathetic and an injustice to your pets that we’re always there for you
We had to put my beloved dog down in May 2020 and we weren't allowed in the room because of covid. He and I watched each other grow up and we just dropped him off that day and never went back to pick him up. One of the hardest times of my life and I still think about it most days. I would never ever choose to not be with my pet in their last moments if it were up to me

honestly it was probably because pounds are really cheap and sadly not everyone can afford to make it to a vet. it doesn’t make it right but i at least understand people not having the money for vets.
and yes proper vets and animal hospitals are required to do wellness checks before putting any animal down and if the animal is healthy they can take the animal off the person or turn them away entirely
I have a little FML story time of my own. One time a friend I had only known for half a year invited me over to her house for the first time ever. We were vibing so much and I was 'bout to have the best weekend, meeting her family and all that. Then on the way over they start talking about how sick their cat is and that they possibly have to put it down. So on the second day I'm there a vet comes over to put it down, and I'm just standing there watching this whole family I just met crying about their dead cat. The rest of the weekend was so pressed, and every time I come over they still joke about how I killed their cat and that the new one they got should watch out or it might die 🥲

My S tier FML story: I got detained over a booger and a bag of salt when I was 19. I was working childcare and it was winter in Kansas, so unfortunately I had a child's big green booger on my coat. The officer was giving me my ID back when he saw it and (WITHOUT ASKING) leaned in and tried to pick it off. Then he said my car smelled loud (it didnt) and asked to search my car. I didn't know I could say no so I let them. They found a bag of salt I had for my lunches and detained me while they field tested it and tried to get me to admit it was something else. Eventually they let me go because again, IT WAS SALT. 😂 yeah that's my FML story... it was great:)

Like you were basically living in an alternate universe for half an hour and suddenly you're hit with reality. That'd give me nightmares.
