Retail theft ring suspects accused of stealing over $76,000 in merchandise in Bellevue

- Three suspects that allegedly stole more than $75,000 were arrested in Bellevue last month.
The three suspects, aged 18, 22 and 27, were taken into custody outside Bellevue Square on May 20 after security witnessed them stealing from stores inside the mall. Two of the suspects attempted to run when confronted by officers but were quickly apprehended.
The suspects have been linked to an organized retail theft ring out of Bogota, Colombia, and allegedly have been prolific in the I-5 corridor between California and Washington.

My mother watched a person pick up and walk out of Nordstrom in Bellevue with a product. She immediately told a clerk who shrugged and said "it happens all the time"
The problem is that these kinds of theft have regional and local merchants reselling this merchandise. It is going to take a coordinated effort to do something. Until some real punishments exist and are enforced, nothing will change.
So much for Seattle's tax base.

The stores don't know how to stop it huh. I don't believe that. I don't have a store but i know the cure. It will take some time but it will work once the word gets out.
I worked at a Walgreens that paid me an unlivable wage for years. I decided to add to my wage by eating for free. Then I added to my lack of health coverage by taking anything OTC I needed. And finally, after being scheduled on every holiday, missing my grandfather's funeral to work, being yelled at for getting extremely sick, missing rent multiple times, and never receiving a raise enough to cover basic bills, I spent a Monday (my only day off lol) biking around the city talking to homeless people, inviting them to take whatever they wanted during my shifts. They showed up with garbage bags. That Walgreens closed temporarily a week later. Then corporate decided to never reopen it. 🙏
