  • Compare the S-Cape Adjustable bed by Leggett & Platt with the Wallhugger feature to the Reverie adjustable bed with the Wall Snuggler feature. Also, what is the best mattress for an adjustable electrical bed? Latex vs. Memory Foam? Hands down, it is a thinner, all latex mattress. Most mattresses today are too thick to work properly on an adjustable bed. On top of this, most mattresses are made of plastic foam which will give out on an adjustable bed very quickly, especially if people are sitting up in bed where they are concentrating weight in one spot. That spot will soften quickly in plastic polyurethane foam. Latex, on the other hand, is the most durable cushioning material and thus is the best for an adjustable bed. On top of this, latex bends easily for the adjustable bed. Too many mattresses are less flexible and art too thick. The very best mattress for an adjustable bed is our latex mattress.

    I’m a big guy, 6’3 about 250lbs. My Tempur pedic mattress lasted about 2 years on my side. It’s softened so much I at times resort to sleeping on the couch. My gf and I thought maybe we just bought a lemon for a mattress but I’m glad I saw this video as we are now in the market again looking for another mattress. Thank you for posting this, it’s been very helpful.

    This video was so informative. I already learned that Leggett & Platt was the best adjustable base via Consumer Reports, but I just didn't know what to think about memory foam mattresses. My sister told me the best mattress she'd ever slept on was latex and she regretted buying a new bed and mattress because she just wanted a change. After watching this video, I will definitely buy a latex mattress and put it on a Leggett & Platt base. I'm already 68 and I need a mattress that will stay with me for the remainder of my days....which I hope will be long! If I make it to 90, I think I'll deserve another new bed and mattress!

    Hi just wanted to say that I have had a latex mattress since 2013. It's been the best purchase ever. I'm 300 lbs and I was looking at a tempurpedic luckily I found some reviews that explained exactly what this person is talking about. It led me towards latex and I could not be any happier. I do rotate my mattress about every 6 months I am not sure that has something to do with it.... But I have no body indentations

    I have to say that you have convinced me that a latex mattress would be ideal for me and my hubby. Not bc of weight but bc we want a split adjustable bed bc of his back issues. And latex seems like it is the way to go. I was reluctant to get latex bc I'm actually allergic but I've learned that it won't be an issue. I will watch the video that you suggest. Definitely gonna look into the adjustable bed you were showing as it was quite and wireless and also the wall hugging feature is something that I didn't think about since I've been looking at different ones. I have to say I've kinda always been cheap with mattresses. Our current isn't a bad mattress it's an Ashley hybrid we got about 5 yrs ago on sale for $480 just for the mattress literally half off regular price. She's been a good mattress. But I do think that the foam layer is definitely softer than it was. But since my hubby has back issues I'm not wanting to go cheap but I also am willing to buy new mattress every 5 yrs since sleeping is a very important part of all our lives I think it's worth it to invest in a mattress. If you break down the cost over a 5 yr period I'd say spending $400 on sleeping a yr is definitely worth it and even still worth if I have to spend over $2k on our next mattress. I think I'm more worried about the adjustable bases lasting alot longer than my mattress. I don't want to have to replace that every 5 yrs. I know this is an old video but I just had to share my thoughts bc this is the best video I've seen about an adjustable bed and this was my 1st one from this channel that I've watched. Thanks again. I will be watching more and I subscribed.

One of the big reasons I bought it, does not break down. however does not do me good if one keeps waking up with back issues, Hip, and neck. Note it is not just me my wife also is waking up with back issues. So today I bought a MyPillow Pillow topper that will go over this bed. 3" with a 60-day trial. Looking forward, or should I say hoping to wake up with no back issues or hip or neck. Let me know if anyone has found a bed that when you wake up one has no pain! Thanks if you have any questions let me know. 'I am 64 years old and my wife is younger.

    You seem really eager to gather info, take testimonials and do the right thing by folks.

  • @SkaggsFamily
    @SkaggsFamily Před 8 lety +2

    I appreciate your review and comparison. I have my choice down to the S-cape and the 5D, which happen to be your comparison. (How often do you get so lucky on Google?) Absolutely want it to be furthest back when tilted "wall-hugger" but your comparison is not apples-to-apples. Can you clarify?
    For the L&P you note the 12-14" foot-end gap, but the foot is raised very high (which increases that gap), and you do not mention the wall gap, only that the base moved back, illustrated by the foot-gap increasing. For the Reverie you note the gap is only 4" (and that it moved 5") and stress that "The gap is [head] more than it is [foot]. It did not move backwards." If you raised the foot, it would be further from the foot. But in any case, for a "wall-hugger" feature the head:foot gap ratio is irrelevant. The only objective factor is how large is the head-end gap on the S-cape compared to the Reverie? Also consider that the Reverie raises 12-degrees more vertical than the L&P, so for apples-apples you would have to measure this at the steepest s-cape angle, not the 5D. That will better tell me if night-stand access is better on one or the other, not how big a gap at the foot. Do you have such a measurement you could share?
    This seems to be the only factor left in my decision. If the Reverie is really not "snuggling" the wall at 58-degrees, as well as the L&P, then L&P wins. Otherwise the Reverie scores a bit higher for me.
    Thanks again for the video comparison.

    After a lot of research and watching this video, my husband and I finally decided to buy the L&P Prodigy 2.0. Although we feel we made the right choice and are happy with the bed, there is one thing we're not happy about, and that is the so-called 'wall hugger' feature. When one of our split-king beds is in the full, upright position, the bed has only moved backwards 7" and there is a gap of 4" between the headboard and the head of the bed, nowhere near the 12-14" your video suggests. The obvious downside is that our nightstands are out of reach. Is there some way to make an adjustment to our bed to make the wall-hugger feature actually hug the wall?

    • @SleepEssentials
      @SleepEssentials  Před 7 lety +2

      Unfortunately there is no way to change this. This is posted on an older video of adjustable beds. Since I found out about the difference of the "Wall Hugger" of the Prodigy and the true Wall Hugger of the S-cape, I did another video demonstrating the difference. You can see this video on my home page of my website www.mattresseducation.net. I'd like you to contact Leggett & Platt and complain that they have misrepresented the "Wall Hugger" feature of the Prodigy since it is not a true Wall Hugger. It should be called the One Half Wall Hugger because a true full Wall Hugger moves backwards a full 11 inches.

      +Shay Moore (ClothoX) The Reverie is delightfully quiet! I like everything about Reverie except the "Wall Snuggler" feature is a total joke, and the corner retainer bars. They advertise, "keeps nightstand within reach." This is far from the truth. I illustrate this on my adjustable bed video. You can find it on my site mattress education dot net and under the products menu at the bottom. The problem with the corner retainer bars is that if you get a split bed, the retainer bars have to be left off because otherwise they run into each other when lifting the head or feet of each side. After removal, the mattress is not well contained on the adjustable. This is a serious design flaw if you get a split king or split queen. Other than these two things, the Reverie is a quality product.

      Latex foam is rubber so it follows the surface it is on. Hybrid mattresses are bendable for an adjustable bed but they certainly don’t bend very well unless you put weight on it to force it to bend. Thus, latex is THE ONLY mattress for an adjustable bed.

    What's missing here is the fact that the Leggett and Platt base uses plywood that outgasses formaldehyde. It's a serious problem for those with chemical sensitivities. Despite a barcode sticker indicating that the plywood is in compliance with CA standards for allowable formaldehyde, at 6 months it still emits an awful smell that should not be mistaken for solid wood. Motor great, but they cut a corner here. The company could have used a non-formaldehyde plywood. The company claims that the cover around the plywood helps mitigate this outgassing, but not so in our experience. It has been 6 months and we've tried everything to accelerate the outgassing with very little success.

      Yes, it is a sad fact that our stinking government, which is out of control worse than the California fires, is mandating Unconstitutional "laws" since the 1930s that it is almost impossible for a company to produce real quality products for the consumers. There is NO WAY to get a perfectly safe adjustable bed. But who can get a new car without some exposure to chemicals? Who can buy all the time 100 percent perfectly organic food? At least from us you are not sleeping on toxic chemicals from the mattress.

      If one gets a 100% metal adjustable bed that is anodized not painted-it’s low to zero VOC. I’m glad to know there are more and more non-toxic beds now, but it would be better if the beds were on surfaces that were also non toxic.. using wood with soy-based glues is better than what Leggett and Platt uses on their adjustable beds For a while Chinese plywood exports were prohibited because of high formaldehyde content. But looks like regulations changed or were not enforced.tYep as for cars, have to buy a used car that’s done some airing out and hasn’t been detailed yet.

    I would like to know about the adjustable beds, prodigy 2.0 and prodigy 2.0+ can you Splaine the difference on these two beds?

    • @SleepEssentials
      @SleepEssentials  Před 6 lety +1

      Happy to splaine. The Prodigy 2.0 has independent control of the pillow tilt. Meaning there is a button on the remote, or on the app, to tilt the pillow as much or as little as you'd like or none at all. But in order to offer the lumbar support on the new Prodigy 2.0 +, they took away the independent control on the pillow tilt and made it integrated. This means no more controlling the pillow tilt on your own as much or as little as you'd like. It means the pillow automatically tilts when you lift the head. Bad design in my opinion but it is also like all other models by any and all other brands that offers pillow tilt. Lumbar support is very nice and works GREAT with our nine inch latex mattresses. Mattresses with springs and thicker the user doesn't feel the lumbar very well. While I've not seen the new Prodigy 2.0+ from looking at the picture it looks to me like the lumbar lift does not extend to the very edge of the bed. Another flaw because I'm afraid you'll notice the "fall off" of the latex mattress on the edge because of this. I hope to review the new Prodigy 2.0+ soon. Feel free to call me at 540-397-2337 if you have further questions.

    How do you put the foot and headboard on the S-Cape adjustable by Leggett@ Platt?

    • @peyton072904
      @peyton072904 Před 5 lety

      There are no footboard brackets for an adjustable bed. Typically a bed with a footboard has a set of siderails. If this is the case with you, it doesn't attach to the adjustable bed, the adjustable bed merely sits in the middle of it on the floor. They do not attach to each other.

    A lot of people are allergic to latax. Have you had customers complain re allergic reaction re itch or rash from sleeping on latex

    • @leecarter3336
      @leecarter3336 Před 8 lety

      Never. Latex foam cannot cause a reaction. The way the latex is processed into foam destroys the protein that can cause a reaction in a person who is allergic. So no once can have a reaction to latex foam. A very few people can have a reaction to synthetic latex, but this is pretty rare as I've only seen this happen twice. If there is a reaction to a "latex" mattress, my bets are on the fire-retardant chemicals. I hope this helps.
