Roger Waters is quoted as saying the song is about realising he was no longer preparing for anything in life, but was right in the middle of it.
Fun fact: the clocks chiming and alarms ringing were recorded in an antique store made as a quadrophonic test by engineer Alan Parsons, not specifically for the [Dark Side of the Moon] album. I saw this band at Batemans Bay NSW earlier this year and they were fantastic. Covered so many of Pink Floyds songs, even Echoes which was a bonus and really well done. I look forward to them coming back.
