Brilliant tutorial that produced lovely feathers. I couldn't print template so hand drew it and used kettle for steam which worked perfectly. Thank you. 😃🌻
Omg, the timing for this is SO perfect! I have a styled shoot this weekend and the cake has these on them. I was going to just wing it, but I'm sure this will be much better, lol!
@@floreacakes I bought one after watching some of your other tutorials! I think I'll have to get one of the little cool mist ones like you use, though, just so I don't overfill it and flood my counter with hot water at 1 am. :p I will tag you on IG when I post a pic! I was happy with how everything turned out.
You are so welcome! You can buy pre-colored wafer paper or use an airbrush. I have a video about coloring wafer paper: czcams.com/video/oN3uoZKhfKY/video.html
Hi Anna, wonderful and so easy to make! Just one thing... this steamer is just vaporising, not steaming with HOT water, isn't it?? Thanks for letting me know! 😊
I want to listen to you all day! So therapeutic voice ha ha. Can you make a devil wing out of this method? is it possible to paint the wing black after construction?
Thank you! To properly answer your question, could you please tell me what is the humidity level in your fridge? Mine is around 37% and I have no issues placing wafer paper flowers on fondant covered cakes in my fridge.
Very nice! Couple of questions please...in the video you mention 22 Gauge wire, but your supply list link is for 20 Gauge wire...which is correct? Regarding the wafer paper link, there are 2 thicknesses - "A4" and "O Grade"....which is correct to use? Thank you!
Thank you. You can use 20 or 22 gauge wire - both would work. Wafer Paper - AD grade (not A4) which is 0.27mm or 0 grade which is 0.22 mm. If you would buy just one type for every application - start with AD (0.27mm)
It depends on your steamer. I wouldn't risk staining it. If you would prefer to add any color to your wafer paper, here are my favorite ways to do that: astashkinacakes.com/how-to-color-wafer-paper/

،💯💯Thank you
You're so welcome 😊
Hi Anna,
wonderful and so easy to make!
Just one thing... this steamer is just vaporising, not steaming with HOT water, isn't it?? Thanks for letting me know! 😊
Yes, it is not a steamer, it is a evaporative humidifier. It is cold to the touch (I guess room temp)
Thanks for your reply. That's what I thought. 👍
♥️
I want to listen to you all day! So therapeutic voice ha ha. Can you make a devil wing out of this method? is it possible to paint the wing black after construction?
You can make black wafer paper (I have a video) and than cut and shape your wings
@@floreacakes awesome I'll go find it thanks beautiful
Gorgeous! Would I be able to use a continuous misting spray instead of the steamer? Or would that be too much moisture?
Depends on your humidity. Just be careful and that method should work as well.
Very beautifuul ❤❤ if we don't have steamer what can we use ? Thaaanks so much
You can boil a pot of water!
Lovely tutorial easy to follow too. Please does the little steamer steam out hot water or normal room temperature water,
Room temp. It is the same steamer as the one you would use for essential oils, so it is a diffuser technically
Can I put the cake In the refrigerator after I decorate with wafer paper flowers
You are amazing, thank for the tutorials

@@Dani-wp9cm oi, inferior estou em Angola e sim já comprei é vaporizador de rosto
Love your work ❤️ can I ask, which wafer paper would you recommend to buy? I'm in the UK? Xx
I think the easiest one is Saracino - I use them all the time. And I have a blogpost here: astashkinacakes.com/grades-of-wafer-paper/
Thank you very much.
Can i put color in water and steam with color. Can it change a color little bit?
It depends on your steamer. I wouldn't risk staining it. If you would prefer to add any color to your wafer paper, here are my favorite ways to do that: astashkinacakes.com/how-to-color-wafer-paper/
Amazing thank u for sharing
How if I needto color it
Saludos, por favor me podría indicar si es vapor caliente o un difusor frío ..?
It is cold! Link is in the description)
For the glue, can i use edible gum to achieve it?
It is absolutely up to your preference! You can even use water, just let it dry prior to shaping
Hi Anna, how can we make the feather colorful? Would be add color before or after?
Yes you can. I would suggest to color or airbrush wafer paper before cutting and shaping feathers.
Hello where do i find template for feather? I don't see a link. Tyvm and ty for sharing 💓
floreacakes.com/wafer-paper-feathers/
Can you do the same with rice paper?
Does your rice paper look the same? Than - yes)
Can I use piping gel instade of glue wafer paper ?
I would suggest to use water if you do not want to make wafer paper glue
C quoi le vaporisateur svp, très beau travail
with this same technique can I make angel wings?
Yes! Great Idea!
@@floreacakes 😘😘
I don't have that glue , is there any other thing that i can replace it with?
You can make your own wafer paper glue or use water
@@floreacakes thanks for you I appreciate your help 💚
How long do they keep?
For months. Put in a ziploc bag away from direct sunshine
Whats the size of the gauge wire
which glue you used?Thank you 🥰
I use wafer paper glue - it is a mixture of wafer paper and water. I have a detailed recipe here: astashkinacakes.com/recipe/
What pen do you use to trace the feather template
Just a granite pencil, but feel free to use Dresden tool or edible marker
Can you paint these and if so how ? 😩
Yes, absolutely! The easiest would be is to airbrush
Where did you get your steamer from.
