Exactly. When he was focused he was pretty much unstoppable. Watch the games when he faced off against Jordan and Pippen. However, his weakness was his size. You had long guys like Pip, Penny, and McGrady coming into the league, along with Kobe, and suddenly 6-5 became a good point guard size. That was basically JKidd.

I was a really good athlete as a kid I caught a charge at 14 and it ruined my future, I remember now being 32 wishing I had just one teacher or coach to believe in me and help me see that it gets better. If that coach didn’t help JR or Mitch he would of never made it as far, Im a firm believer in helping the youth when you can.

I’m from Parsons Kansas. I remember watching him play against Labette Community College when I was in high school. He put a show on, and also he played with another stud guard.

It's crazy to hear multiple nba players talk about how basketball was their back up sport 😳 . Allen Iverson said that he loved football more than he loved basketball. Isiah Rider said the same thing. Tracy McGrady in an interview on " The Pivot" also said that he was better at baseball then he was at basketball!! Insane 😲

Me and Jr. went to the same school and grade. Started at Chipman Middle School 8th grade. Had him in my art class and remember him walking around school on metal spring shoes to help with his hops. His younger brother Lamont was a grade behind us and his friend was George Kinard. Plus, Julius one of Jr. Rider friends. I remember our freshman year at Encinal High School when he played football and use to go up for the catch towering over people. My dad was in Navy too and I moved middle of our 10th grade year. I ran into him one year in the 90’s at Jefferies Inner Circle a club in Oakland, CA. He didn’t recognized me because back in school I had long hair and him and other classmates called me Michael Jackson. He laughed when I reminded him, anyway I hope he is doing well these days and wish him the best. Class of 89’.

I still consider him the most underrated player ever. When Phil left him off the roster, I was not happy. I hope he can read the comments to see how appreciated he was. On the Blazers he was basically unplayable. People forget how he had almost no weakness to his game. In todays game, he’s easily a supermax player.

Mitch Richmond is very humble for picking up JR Rider and trying to help him. I love that Kobe only wanted JR to guard him In Practice 🙌🏻 Many people try to copy the Eastbay funk dunk like they do Bay Style/Slang/Swagger Etc But big ups to KG my 5th favorite Hooper of all time and JR my Bay Area Native!! He didn’t back down from Kobe or MJ or any other shooting guard 💯
