Great conversation. My daughter has recently been diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome and her doctors have encouraged us to limit her protein intake. I am reading a lot of information that supports the idea of having higher protein, and this all makes sense to me, however, when we try to discuss this with our doctors they are very quick to dismiss and warn us of the dangers. With my limited knowledge, I dont know how to convince them and feel pressured into doing what I feel is the wrong thing. Where can I find information on protein intake and Nephrotic Syndrome, Childhood Nephrotic Syndrome in particular? My daughter is 7 years old. Many thanks

Gosh cut her carbs first ! Then think about animal fat and animal proteins to replace those carbs. They body will heal itself if the carbs are out of the way. It’s hard for kids cuz if the holidays, birthdays and summer camps etc… it’s a family affair and the choice is the child’s to want a carb free life and live more healthy in the long run or live on pills and kidney dialysis for years while her kidneys get more ruined by carbs

@@solutions4tenants141 My daughters condition is genetic, shes had it since birth and there is no known cure, the prognosis is kidney failure and transplant, which could occur within 5 years, before she is 12. But the main symptom is proteinuria and if we can slow down the protein leak her kidney could last a lot longer, and with advancements in r&d there is hope that treatments might be available in the future.
As a family we have always eaten a low a low-carb (and zero-processed) diet, her whole life. I myself eat majority carnivore. Since the diagnosis we have further reduced my daughters carb intake, however with this comes an increase in meat. I have read numerous studies and testimonials of people reversing severe kidney disease by going carnivore, however all of the medical professionals that we have seen over the last few weeks (there have been many) advise that we cut protein. It seems that the medical industry her in the UK is behind the times when it comes to the things that Dr Fung is discussing here.
It doesnt feel like we have much time and it is a struggle to find the information that I am after. If you have any links to any studies or anything that might help it would be greatly appreciated

I am 34 years old and my medical test results show normal blood pressure, normal blood glucose, normal Hb1AC, normal TSH, T3, T4 levels , normal kidney size, and normal ultrasound results. However, my creatinine level is 1.7, eGFR is 53, GGT is 132, and uric acid is 8.3. Please, whoever reading please provide a diagnosis based on these results? Also, can I start the keto diet? Thank you.
