Welcome to Part II of the Jill Duggar Story. This is a story that we are quite familiar with. It's a story about the Duggars. Jill you are very strong! I fully know first hand how hard it is to step away from a dysfunctional family, a ‘family’ full of alcoholics, drug addicts and yes I was s*xu*lly abused by my brother as well.

Wow! I feel so bad for that whole family. All those kids need to understand that life outside of their circle is not all sinful. That they can see other lives and realize there are so many different ways to live and given the chance to make their own decisions outside of their parents beliefs

My jaw dropped when she said her father was paid 6 FIGURES for the birth of HER child, but refused to help with the $10k deductible and out of pocket hospital costs. What a disgusting human being. And I bet he made her feel guilty for asking for help. I don’t know how she’s still willing to communicate with him after everything she’s learned. You can tell Derrick is beyond over Jim Bob and would probably jump at the chance to go no contact. The fact that Derrick lost out on scholarships and grants to help pay for law school because Jim Bob was falsely reporting income for them is crazy. They lost out on job opportunities and got fined by the IRS.
Then the mf has the NERVE to tell them that they should pray for forgiveness and make threats about cutting her out of a trust that was built with HER money?!
I guarantee there’s no trust. And even if there is, it’s chump change compared to what he got paid. He needs to be investigated for the tax fraud.
I have some experience with high control churches. I believe that Jim Bob likely feels justified in his actions and that he made righteous choices

TLC should be held legally liable for allowing the exploitation of each of the children involved. Jim Bob should also be sued for the exploitation. These were minor children who clearly had no legal representation to protect any aspect of their involvement.

Jim Bob lied to ALL 19 kids by telling them that their Reality TV Show was "a ministry!" He kept ALL the money for himself, and he STILL expects his kids to behave like "robots!" It's absolutely disgusting!

I knew it the minute I met him when I lived in Rogers, Arkansas back in 1996… I met him and Michelle and I think at the time they had four kids maybe five, can’t remember honestly… I had been invited to a “church service” by a new friend and they were there… They were friends of the person that had invited me. I met him and Michelle and the way she would just look at him like he was Jesus that walked on water disturbed me to my core… And when I shook that man’s hand, it was like shaking hands with the devil…. All I wanted to do was get the hell away from him… He just gave me the creeps in a way that I can only describe as having evil surround me… I got away from there and I never went back. I feel sorry for every single one of those kids… I’m glad Jinger and Jill got out from under his thumb!

It seems that this “cult”believed that males were superior and could do no wrong. The men were believed to be entitled to their way of life, ie porn, payment for their daughters’ work on the show, and my way or the highway attitude.

The demons pass through the @buse, and then the victim has to deal with it, either beating them or joining them.
It's easier for women to fight it because they have maternal instincts. Men have more natural drive, so it's tougher for them. They need to be taught how to handle their urges, and its certainly not by pretending they don't exist. Making it taboo creates more problems, not less.

Once those children reached adulthood then why weren't they being dealt with by TLC's attorneys or at least consulted with after everything had been given the green light....?! Especially when Jill and Jenna had their own spin-off, why didn't TLC's attorney's speak with them after or during speaking with Jim-Bob.....?! It's like Jim-Bob was in cahoots with someone at TLC, someone higher up that has some sort of authority in that company....!! Something just isn't adding up and I honestly don't think it's the adult kid's, but instead it has to do with Jim-Bob and TLC's attorney's (or whoever is initiating the contracts).....!!

Jim Bob is a total hypocrite. The fact that he thought the girls should continue to answer to him and seek his approval, even though they're married, just irritated the heck outta me!
Also we know he and Michelle didn't expect to show such deference to their own parents, in fact taking a fairly oppositional stance.
Especially since Michelle and Anna also had their own fathers and families but they didn't count, they had to be under Jim Bob's control. That man wants to control the World.

Jill and Derek have not had total deliverance themselves yet. I went to a Bill Gothard seminar but that is where it stopped for me. By a miracle I never went on in Bill's homeschool and never did my twin brother. There are some of us that went to Bill's seminar but never got more involved in his ministry. I consider that Bill was false and didn't want to be more involved. We are now all seeing that it is the truth. Jill and Dereck are the same as Jim Bob yet, even Jill and Dereck need to come out of their false church yet.
Jim bob had more anger at Jill for wearing pants and her piercing than he was of his son not only mol3sting his daughters and family friend, having a secret online Maddison account but also being sent to prison for engaging in and distribution of child corn! He was right there at every court date, wrote leniency letters, etc. To preserve whatever once of dignity he thought he son possessed Smh. Only good thing that came out of Jim's whole tlc shenanigans is that Jill finally found a man who will put her and the well being of their family first. Im so proud of the courage she has always shown in regards to creating her own lane. Jill and Derrick are my favorite couple along will Jinger and Jeremy. I wish them both well.
Jinger isn't much better than Jenna or any of the other's...!! Just like how Jinger went to Jim-Bob and asked for permission to wear pants, before she even attempted to do so, or how her book is basically a fluff book and doesn't talk about the family dynamics unlike Jill's book, which basically told it all.....!! The book Jinger wrote was just an easy paycheck for her, where Jill's book was therapeutic and gut wrenching for her to even write...! I guarantee Jim-Bob some how got paid for Jinger's book also....!!
I’m glad Jill found Derrick, I think he really helped bring her up and out of her father’s vile control. I wish more of the kids could find their way out.

I feel sad for Josh's wife. I would imagine she has been conditioned to believe that she is "owned" by Josh and, by proxy, Jim. There's no way Jim Bob is going to let her out of the family.
Bubba actually billed his child for being born, made her work and kept the money as repayment? What a class A jerk.
When you're a parent you know that you're going to have to pay for things for your kids, no matter where the money originates. That's the job of parenting.

It's my understanding that he also forged adult children's signature so that he could keep the money train coming in with TLC's show.

@@lisahill7032I never heard that and I’ve been googling it. Jim Bob has always been the Payee for all the shows and sadly the kids never realized he was taking it for himself. He at times would give them so property to some of his children. Other than that he kept all the earnings.
Wondering, how long are you under your parent's control? Isn't the husband (Derrick) the leader of your family? Does Jim Bob have to honor his father/mother?
Jim Bob was so arrogant & controlling. He basically was stealing from his own children. No wonder Josh turned out the way he did. Some fatherly role model.

Having some similar issues with my own parents, it's grace, not naivete. She's wise enough to see her parents as flawed, complex human beings who she still loves, and who still love her in some ways. She's holding boundaries and being compassionate at the same time.

I was raised in an extreme, radical IBLP/ATI/Southern Baptist nightmare. I’m the second oldest of 12. The abuse and brutality in that home was beyond horrific. I was always the one resisting the abuse, trying to get help, the “crazy one” who refused to be beaten into silence. We were so isolated we had zero contact with the outside world and my dad would take the phone off the wall when he left. It’s not like we knew anyone to call for help anyways. Jill, my advice to you is to read broadly, travel, and be patient with yourself. It’s like walking out of fog. And remember, Your voice and story does not belong to anyone but you. ❤

I am the middle of 11 raised in legalistic Christina reformed church, I'm the only one who doesn't go to their church, my parents wouldn't pay for my wedding because I go married in a different Christian church and not theirs, I see the bs but no one else does, and I have 52 nieces and nephews some of them got out, married 28 years and still feel it

I forget how it’s worded but she cleaved to her husband and he did to her as the Bible says to do when you get married. And Jim Bob thought he would keep control even after she got married. He wasn’t prepared for her husband to have more influence over her than him and I think he thought Derek would be easy to manipulate and control to.

Because JC and Christianity are generally viewed and easily accepted as good things and a higher calling, narcissistic men cloak their true nature and agendas in some twisted version of religion. Consider Warren Jeffs and the cult he developed.
None of these, not Warren, Jim Bob, or Josh, have anything real to do with JC or the principles he espoused. They just use JC as a cloak and bait to lure in and control the innocent.

For all of the annoyance with Michelle, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to believe that Jim Bob uses or has used the same abuse and control tactics with her that he uses on his daughters. Jim Bob is a narcissist, and Michelle is his primary emotional supply and ego booster. I also believe that Josh controls Anna the same way.
I get really strong Stockholm Syndrome vibes from her. I worry about what that man has really done to her through the years. She popped out 19 kids and had postpartum depression. I can’t even imagine.
It's now thought to be Trauma Bonding. It's extremely confusing but they make you care about them more than yourself. It's very hard to get untangled from someone who has hurt you so deeply.

JB inserts himself into their lives by showing up unannounced. It is a way of dominating Jill, taking advantage of her gentle character. So glad she wrote this book exposing JB, especially his tax fraud.

Imagine receiving an e-mail from your father with a list of how much he spend on you growing up. All of this coming from the man who claims that children are such a blessing. Well unless they grow up to have an opinion of their own. I thought I knew a lot about this family already, but this was absolutely shocking. Jim-B00b is no leader or protector at ALL. Just another cold-hearted grifter hiding behind religion, willing to sacrifice his children’s well being so he can purchase land. Despicable. Great job on the documentary!

I think, being fair, he submitted that list of expenses because he was being questioned and accused Re: recent $$ situations. He's allowed to defend himself.

It was called “cover my a**” & protect my financial future & supreme control because my son-in-law is catching on & JB may get caught, lose control & the other kids might began to retaliate!! What a horrible mindset and terrible church philosophy. So thrilled Jill & Derek stood up to JB & the truth!!
Oh how ridiculous that JimBob assured Jill that she stood to receive 1/19th of his inheritance, but it would be lowered if she continued to attack him!! There is absolutely not one shred of Christianity in that statement! I really doubt if he intended to share ANY of the money his children made for him, until Jill & Derek got a lawyer involved. The fact that he was so manipulative of his kids, even after they were married, is just wrong.

WHEW, that Meghan interview was just brutal. Also, the fact that Jessa didn’t offer Jill any comfort when she broke down crying is telling.
Ugh it really was. And now knowing why Jill did it and that Josh was there, I see that interview with a different lens now and it is so sad.
Jessa was also a victim, and it’s horrific that their abuser is literally in the room during the interview :( - this is a good example of how people can go through the same trauma and have completely different reactions. Jessa seems to show hers through indifference. I hope they both, as well as the other victims, have been in therapy to handle their trauma

Jessa was more then likely disassociating. At my boyfriends recent funeral my daughter started crying next to me but I was frozen and couldn't move my arms to comfort her. I also am an abuse survivor with diagnosed PTSD. Please be careful judging Jessa. I have a feeling she was frozen or disassociating.
Jill, if being cast out is a step toward a good safe life I'd say go for it.
Sometimes, people have to make heartbreaking choices to protect their own emotional sanity! Jill is also getting therapy for her own mental health, and I wished her siblings joined her!

The first time I saw this show I said "this is a cult!". The whole thing creeped me out and I knew there would be something dark waiting. I couldn't believe the mother would say how she was always 'joyfully available' and that is why they have so many children. The older children raise the younger ones. It's insane. She should sue her father for making her sign a document under false pretenses and her mother is allowing all of this! Notice how Jim Bob doesn't do anything raising all of those kids.
JB is as much a monster as Josh. They just prey differently.

I've always said the same thing. I am in no way defending Josh when I say this. I'm saying it because of proven facts in other cases. I feel like Josh was abused as a child lie this by someone. I feel that way because of how all the abuse took place with his sister's then the abuse with the adult women. We have no clue what really truly happened in that household. I feel like JB is abusive to Michelle. I just don't see a woman willingly wants to please her husbands needs so much to have all those kids.

Everyone always thinks they have ended the abuse cycle but they haven't. The reality right now is Jill and Dereck haven't ended the abuse cycle yet. Jill and Dereck are going to abuse their own children, they are right now. I can tell you for a fact that Jill and Dereck go to a church that will hurt their own children. This is just the way this pattern works. It really takes a huge huge huge change in your life to actually totally break the abuse. It looks like Dereck is Jill's savior but he really isn't. Dereck is just another position of abuse now. It happens a lot, they just go from one cult to another cult thinking they escaped but they haven't yet.

The IBLP cult is patriarchal, and that's why girls and women are treated so badly! It took TREMENDOUS courage for Jill to put her foot down and give her terrible father what he deserved, but she needed Derick's help to do that, and I've NEVER been prouder of them! Jill also said in her book that Jim Bob almost destroyed her marriage to Derick, and I always believed he tried to do the same thing to her 3 other sisters! Jim Bob thinks their husbands turned his daughters against him, but he did that himself, except that he doesn't see that! It's absolutely disgusting!

It can just happen. My mother thought she had dealt with her abuse, but then at 30, when I was born, it hit her and she had a complete mental break. I was born with a severe and rare disability and it hit her that she would need help from those around her to raise me and it triggered her distrust and fear of having to depend on others to help care for me and how vulnerable I would be. She said she started to feel uncomfortable with people she usually trusted even holding me. My grandma told me about taking me as an infant to visit her in the hospital because she couldn't function. It took until my teenage years for her to come out the other side and actually deal with her trauma.
I'm my moms youngest, so it isn't like she didn't raise other kids before. Just something about it triggered her and she suffered with issues for almost two decades after.
She got the help, but Jill did not receive help in dealing with josh, and forgiveness really should be only on your time, not by other people's time!!! I need to work on that!

It’s so icky - I feel horrible for the girls that their abuse & details were released to the public that caused them to relieve their trauma. At the same time, these abuses were used in court during trial and rightfully helped in Josh’s guilty verdict in his trial. I will always applaud Jill for speaking about what she went through & having the strength to call out her dad & brother.
Yes. People knew who they were as victims because of the show JB got rich on. Their names were not released but people could figure it out because of the TV show. People knew their DOBs so figured out the ages. Thus, who were the victims in their family.
I agree. If not for their exposed records, Josh may not have faced enough scrutiny to be locked up when he was on trial. It's awful they had to suffer like that, but at least it led to him getting locked up by showing that he has a long track record.

I used to watch their TLC show in awe of what a wonderful family they were. There were times when I was actually jealous of what a Godly, caring, protective husband and father he was compared to my own family dynamics. It's sad and infuriating how misinformed and deceived the viewers were. He is far from being a Godly man, and he's not even sorry! He traded in the King of the universe for the king of lies. He made money and deception his god. He exchanged the love of his children for the love of power and greed. I hope every single child of his opens their eyes and sees him for what he truly is.
I’ve been told they used blanket training and what that was. It’s abusive ad it’s awful. Ruby Franke and her sisters do that. Anyone using that on babies should be investigated by DCFS.

The ironic part of Jim Bob’s world view is that HE is the “honored father” in perpetuity . He NEVER considered that his daughters, once married, owe their allegiance to their new family and that his roll in his girls life was now second to that of her husband and father-in-law. Jim Bob picks and chooses the bits and nieces that keep him at the top of his pyramid of power. It’s all part of his narcissism. I don’t think it’s a fantasy bond. I forgave my dad for some awful things too and over time God healed the relationship with him and my mom. I don’t regret that at all and I’m sure she won’t either.

I've been following the family and Jill through the gossip channels and media for 10 years. Jill and I are of a similar age. I'm a labor nurse, and she's a midwife, and I always imagined we'd be friends if we met in real life, so I'm happy she's found her voice and didn't sell out to her father for her silence. Her words will be lucrative for her, and they are wonderfully going to be a thorn in Jim Bob's side when he gets a knock on his door from Uncle Sam on April 15th.

This is how religion is harmful. I had to get away from it because of something similar happened to me in my family, and I was tired of “forgiveness” being the only excuse for abuse and to keep my mouth shut. As a SA survivor, I am proud of Jill standing up for herself. Not only did her brother abuse her, but so did her good for nothing enabling parents. It’s so disgusting how much parents would harm their children, I hope nothing but healing to the innocent parties involved.

He's not even my dad and when he was explaining he wasn't going to pay them because "blah blah God's blessing blah blah" I felt like I was the one getting gaslit. He used his kids and their husband as free labor to make money. The exploitation and the deceit is so evil. He didn't see innocent children. He saw children he could mold into following his every whim and to worship him and make him feel powerful. Someone who didn't allow free-thinking but mindless obedience. Jumping up and touching a crying person takes them out of their feelings. If you truly want to support someone sit there and be still. Agree or nod your head, maybe repeat a statement back to them but do not move, do not interrupt, do nothing to take a person out of their feelings. Feelings are a bodily experience. A person needs to allow a feeling to finish on its own naturally.
