    00:00 Introduction
When it comes to wearing jewelry, men often fall into two camps:
    1. those who wear none at all and think that jewelry is only for women
    2. those who wear too much
    00:50 What is Male Jewelry?
Throughout history and depending on the culture, the jewelry that is worn by men can vary. If you think of the maharajas of India or the French kings of the 18th century, for example, you’ll see a lot of large, showy gems that would be considered feminine or over the top today. But, if anything, history has shown that jewelry has never been limited to women’s wear.
Some Typical Pieces of Men’s Jewelry
    01:02 1. Cufflinks
    02:35 2. Shirt Studs & Waistcoat buttons
    04:00 3. Watches
    05:00 4. Rings
05:38 5. Tie Clips and Bars Pins
07:12 6. Collar Pins, Bars and Clips
    08:33 7. Chains & Fobs
10:06 8. Bracelets, Necklaces or Chains
    11:09 9. Belt Buckles
12:00 10. Lapel Pins or Chains
DOs and DON'Ts of Men's Jewelry
    DON'Ts
    12:46 DON’T Show off
14:07 DON’T wear too many pieces of jewelry
    14:53 DON’T wear oversized jewelry
    DOs
15:32 DO choose the right proportions for you
16:01 DO select jewelry that has personal meaning
17:20 DO Always match your metals
17:55 DO make jewelry choices based on the occasion
Though some guys can get away with breaking any style rule, unlike clothing, jewelry for men has more potential risks of going wrong. Some men wear an earring all the time and pull it off or indulge in a bracelet or two, and when you are dressed casually you can stretch the boundaries.
However, within the limits of classic style, you can’t go wrong following these pieces of advice for wearing jewelry.

A few historically-minded viewers have pointed out that we used an image of Henry VIII of England when mentioning "French Kings" in the introduction. We readily admit the error (it slipped by during the review process), but submit that the overall point stands; monarchs of centuries past were known to wear more ostentatious finery than what would be considered "masculine" or "typical" of men today. Thanks for holding us to a high standard, folks!

Marie-Anne LeCoeur (whose videos I love) says that the three rules of French chic are: Less is more, keep it simple and quality not quantity. I think that's equally true for men as for women, as you so wonderfully illustrated here.
There are so many channels for women's style (which is great for me, as a woman) and it's good to see someone doing the same for all the gentlemen out there.

@@gentlemansgazette Of course! As mentioned, Marie-Anne LeCoeur (who is a genuine Frenchwoman and whose channel is all about French chic style - she's currently looking for people to collaborate with, as well, if you're interested!). Alyssa Beltempo is Canadian and talks about style and slow fashion, and Audrey Coyne talks about style and curating a capsule wardrobe. There are others, but those are my favourite CZcams creators to watch.

For men more so. Typical men's jewelry rules with stones. Less stones but larger and better quality stones. And for rings it's often better for guys to just go solid 10 or 14k at best and go heavier and leave gems off. So beyond basic designs you're sort of left with very high quality and or custom designs.

I need to carry a keycard at work, and it came with one of those yoyo string things, which looked kind of bad, but I replaced the string thing with an old pocket watch chain that I attach on a belt loop and put the card in my pocket. It fits really well with a suit and it looks quite modern but in a classic way.

I think necklaces can be very elegant on a man. A thin gold necklace, maybe with a cross or another religious symbol on it is a very subtle way of adding visual interest and character to an outfit, since it's only visible when the shirt has a few buttons unbuttoned. Both my father and my grandfather pretty much constantly wear gold necklaces and I continue the tradition. It causes many people to ask me if I'm a christian, and though I'm not religious, I do enjoy carrying on my heritage.

Frankly, I like jewels and I enjoy wearing brackets with jewels. I’m especially fond of my emerald and diamond braclet. I’m sure it was originally intended for a woman. I don’t particularly care if it’s traditional menswear. I guess it’s one of those rules I’ve chosen to break. So, I think you should wear what you like and what makes you happy. The reason I wear anything is because I like it.

I wear a silver bracelet on my right wrist, with a watch and wedding band on my left wrist/hand.
The bracelet was a present from my parents in my 21st. I also used to wear a thin gold chain, that mum gave me on my 18th, but the clasp needs mending right now.

Fascinating content as always gentleman! I use to be into jewelry more when I was in school but nowadays I think a watch is probably the farthest I'll go and a simple necklace nothing flashy. Keep up the good work I understand you tend to get preoccupied and can't always reply to everyone so I try not to take it personally but know that your content is highly appreciated.

Interesting. A couple years ago I bought myself a couple half suites of cuff links and shirt studs. I asked them why the sets were called half suites, and what constitutes a full suite. They didn't know, but I suspected the full suite might include waistcoat studs as you explained here.
