So amazing seeing Glasgow again back in the day .. thank you so much for sharing it with us ❤
Been isolated for a long time felt like I was on a wee tour today 19-2-2021 thanks 😊
I grew up in helensburgh & now balloch ... brilliant video
Great video. Made me feel extremely nostalgic this
23 years ago today!I love this video.I watch it often.Makes me feel very nostalgic seeing Glasgows east end around this time.I wish I could travel back to then but this is the next best thing. Thanks for filming and uploading this wee film.
This is a brilliant video! Living in one of the towns you passed through made it even better! And I virtually know every stretch of road you took apart from that sneaky single-track road between Drymen and Gartmore! Me and my friend will be taking a road trip after watching this!
4:28:02 The red van is my late boss on his vay to pick me up. I was in my 3rd year electrical apprenticeship. It was nearly 5pm so he probably should've been to get me half an hour ago. God bless you Jeff ☇... I miss the days. K.
Thanks for the comment. The video was shot in 1999 so I reckon about 30% of the folk in it will have passed away. Like Bruce Springsteen says "One minute you're here, next minute you're gone". Maybe future facial recognition software will be able to identify the people we caught on film.
Thanks for this upload. Certainly a nostalgic trip. Very enjoyable 😉
Great video. Queue jumper at 1:29:00😄. Also, nice to see someone that knows how to drive. Your light is green but you wait because if you move forward you block the junction for traffic coming on your right. You've restored my faith in mankind.
Very cool to see. I grew up in Aberuthven and went to school in Auchterarder.
that is brilliant. I lived in Helensburgh for a long time, now in Thailand.
Aye but this is Helensburg. Must be in Germany.
Fantastic video!!
thanks for the memories, I miss the old Glasgow.
(krusty the klown voice) "IT LOOKS EXACTLY THE SAME YOU IDIOT!"
this video is from 1999. what do you miss, the knife crime?
Love these videos. Although my family didn't move to Scotland until a couple years after when this was filmed, it's still a perfect capture of the world during my childhood. Would love to know if you still have the original unedited versions of these roadtrips, with their original aspect ratio and audio. I can understand adding the music overtop as there wouldn't be that much to hear, but I think the ambient atmosphere, especially in areas like Glasgow, would really make these videos come to life!
Glad you enjoy them. The audio was unusable because I had a couple of fans blowing across the camera lens to keep insects away. The fans drowned out any ambient noise. The originals were shot in Digital8 4:3 and I trimmed the sky and road at top and bottom to give 16:9.
@@starrydave8015 Have you ever considered doing a followup series, retracing the same routes 25 years later? It'd make for a fascinating comparison.
@@aLrgDck You could probably do this yourself using Google street view. Be interesting to see the changes over 24 years.
Love it.
Nice wee video. Pity it took from Anniesland to Clydebank before the driver stopped and wiped the rain off the camera lens ! “Take Two” !
16:32 Bluevale and Whitevale towers ❤
13:54 Duke street Parkhead :)
The world was a much nicer place back then (I wasn't even born yet)
It says posted 4yrs ago, but the footage is much older than 4yrs going by the cars ye can see. And av no seen a bendy bus for pure donkeys. Parceline vans cutting aboot the toon, they became DPD in 2008. Great video though.
I posted the videos in 2016 but this one was started at 11:39am on 28th September 1999. More details are in the description.
Hi how do we get in touch with you to discuss licensing this footage for a documentary? It's lovely!
Thanks for your interest - I have sent you an email.
much less cars in the road back then
Was this filmed in the seventies ?
The date for each video is in the description. This one was filmed on 28th September 1999 - nearly 24 years aga.
@@starrydave8015 cheers
where is the toll in this video
Can anyone tell me which year was this video shot?...thank u in advance...btw i look like a frog 🐸 jus incase anyone was interested 🤪
1999
If you pause the video at 28:35, you'll see to the right of the shot a woman wearing a red jacket holding the arm oif a man in a beige jacket. The gentleman in the beige jacket is a grass and he's getting battered next time I see him.
Aye and that red jacket she's wearing is a stoler so she's getting battered anaw
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is a old video I work for Arnold Clark it doesn’t look like that now
Absolute fantastic upload. Did you film this video ? The camera is mounted at a high vantage point, yet manages to fit through tight spaces... is it the first Google car🤣.
Glad you enjoyed it. The camera was clamped to the roofbars of a Suzuli V6 Grand Vitara SUV.
@@starrydave8015... Ah! That explains it 😁. It's all dashcams & gopros nowadays. This video is like a drive through my memories. Driving past various work places, houses, even drives past my dad's birth place.
Thank you for uploading
Miserable day today, Saturday 20th Feb 2021. No need for a flask, or a full tank of fuel, just an occasional coffee, and lunch in between. A child in a pram being pushed across the bridge in Dumbarton will be about
23 today. Does he know he is on video. Shame. Great days outing.
A lot has changed.
Most of it for the worse.
Driving has become become worse and worse as they add traffic lights to every bloody junction now creating cpnstant jams.
Somethings never change though, like the traffic at dalreoch and west Dunbartonshire haveing the most useless council in the uk Lol.
Can you upload another video
I could but all my road trips are already uploaded.
Apart from the old vehicles and the way people dressed I see no difference compares to 2020's glasgow.
The roads appear to be much less congested than they are now. That was the year I passed my test. Brings back many memories.
The East End has changed quite a bit. Much of the housing around Gallowgate no longers exists.
