He can’t crouch or crawl either, but his height does factor into the mechanics, his standing height is about the same as a crouched character

crouching and prone are key game mechanics since it both decreases the hit chances on the unit and also boosts accuracy
thats why even with mad crit stats the vaultboy stays on the recruit pool and i just grab his endgame weapon early
And to compensate, he's slow. But why'd they make him more fragile, though?
Not sure how a weeb kid who wasn't even born when this game was released has such an intimate knowledge of the game, but it's both impressive and sad.😂
@@DarthWall275 I thought the 2010s rerelease of fallout 1-tactics was infamous in the community because interplay used fan patches for them
Another thing about the Vault Boy the companion, if u do plan on finding him make sure you have 2 or 3 empty party member slots while u wander around the location to trigger his encounter. Otherwise he will say your party is to full and refuse to join unless u have a smaller band.
Coming back to the location a second time actually soft locks you if you are playing without any patches. So remember to have a small party when u first meet him.
Imagine the PipBoy being a hallucination by the main character and no one else sees him

the Brotherhood of steel in this game (depending how you solve some quest) revrutet ghouls and even Supermutant.
The big Evil you fight was a AI that mission was to rebuild the USA. Even if the enklave never want to rebuild the usa in case of the war. they want take some starships and reach a new world.( well mention only in Fallout 2)
and the Endboss(kind of) was his own General...
Sound like he never make it over the first mission and haluzinatet by bad Helingpowder and rotten food...
considering the main theme is haywire robots, I think its just some vaultboy animatronic gaining self conscious

@@benjaminschiel3339 this one is the cooler BoS, they recruited super mutants, deathclaws, ghouls ,hell ,they even lobotomized a robot to serve the warrior(search up HR 1205)
I can totally see them accept a silly self-conscious animatronic that can aid the warrior

@@variantgamer9885 It’s ok if you are someone playing it the first time. But your second play through should be as a stealth archer on legendary or you’ll get bored as shit. Literally almost every dungeon you go in is a Nordic ruin to so that is not repetitive at all.

I just love how goofy the whole idea of meeting the Vault Boy in the middle of nowhere and him immediately deciding to join your group to fight enemies for no reason sounds
Now I kinda want this guy as a companion in a modern fallout game, because I think it would be funny

I like to imagine he's either a guy in a prewar mascot costume, or a prewar animatronic with a somewhat sentient ai
There's something very unsettling about his animations but I can't put my finger on why.

YES! I know Tactics is the second-most hated game in the franchise but I really liked it. I even still have my original unpatched copy and a strategy guide. I Would love to see more Tactics videos

Favourite thing to do in fallout tactics used to be trapping super mutants underneath my humvee and then have all the people inside the car switch to melee weapons and beat the shit out of him while they cant do anything.

Imagine a new top down, turn based Fallout game with the Vault Boy esthetic.
This would be something straight out of the wild wasteland perk,and you can have him as your companion depending on the skill points you put on strength,perception,endurance,charisma,intelligence,agility and luck

A pipboy is a small computer
The Vaultboy is a cartoon character from the bunker company
That is a robot that looks like the latter and is named after the former. The only question is, did some ingame robot factory get confused with the naming, or was it the real life creators of the game?
I always though it was a dude in a mascot suit that called himself Pipboy. Especially since he's slow and can't crawl of crouch.
Somehow you could recruit even two of them, but I can't remember now if it was from two different random encounters or what.

Extremely underrated game, second best after fallout 2 in my opinion.
If I was gonna make a fallout game, Vault boy would be a main antagonist throughout every piece of the franchise, the ultimate survivalist in the wasteland that is basically an sworn enemy of every main protagonist, not absolutely evil but rather the purposeful type, the secret being that pulling the puppet string of all event

Warrior is the only BoS(High Ranking) and non-vault protagonist, so I think it is kinda cool. I also believe he never removes his PA, like Legate Lanius.
Tactics is a glimpse into the fallout 3 I wish we would've gotten. I understand why people like bethesdas fallout 3, but CRPGs hold a special place in my heart and the fallout games were among the best in the genre. The fact that we lost classic style fallout game with a real time combat system makes me sad every time I think about it
It's called wastland 2 and 3 shit even the dev Inexile has more claim to be the black Isles sucssor than Obsidian ever did.
You want the true classic fallout sequel you go wastland not Bethesdas Eelder scrolls with guns or the sad pathetic nostalgia bait shoved out by the B tier Bioware knockoff Obsidian.
I for once enjoyed the continuous turn based combat mechanics, wished they could remake fo1 and 2 with this system while also fixing the bugs it plagged it
The isometric style would’ve been outdated. We needed a shift to 3D
@@memesauce9410 Because games like Divinity and Baldurs gate aren't popular CRPGs made in the modern age. There is very obviously a market for these games. Fallout used the be (in my opinion) the best of the genre. Modern fallout just isn't true fallout. They're fallout themed elder scrolls.

Idk if u knew this but in Fallout nv u can actually repair the elevator in the bison steve (with a repair of 35) allowing u to enter the second floor which is filled with more enemies and loot
This man has probably 1k+ hours on that game, if he doesn’t know that in literally the starter area id jizz everywhere’s
you can also lockpick the door to the maintenance room and get to the second floor that way

OK.
1.) fallout tactics was rather buggy crashing semi frequently for me. prevented me from doing ironman since it crashes randomly on the map
2.) fallout tactics 'tactics' was trivialized by the voodoo drug which you can take 3 of and get 12 AGI, 12 Luck, 60 damage resistance (armor adding another 40% to get you to 100%) and 72% chance of critical hit. for like 30 minutes. after which you cycle him back to the party and drug up someone else waiting for the withdrawl to wear off. since fallout had those bypass defenses criticals, this means you get yourself a burst mode gun a Browning M2 is ideal but anything works really, and just crit them to death. Fast shot + bonus rate of fire. I used Jax I think, mutating his kamikaze for gifted for the bonus rate of fire perk.
3.) Pretty sure a big existed to get you 2 pip boys, I don't recall them being weak, did you not put armor on him? good stats especially luck.
Random encounters can be farmed, voodoo can be found off beastmen encounters, pulse grenades can be found off reaver encounters. considering the last maps of the game are against robots, these pulse grenades are pretty clutch.
but yeah fallout tactics drugs allowed for over 100% damage resistance and very high critical chance. trivilizing the tactics.
oh and you could over dose turrets, make a video on over dosing the turrets.

@@Laneous14 I noticed, which is why I brought it up. PipBoy is the name of the thing that vault dwellers and others wear on their wrists in the games. Personal Information Processers. The blonde guy in the vault suit is consistently referred to as Vault Boy in the main series.
Hence my confusion.

Actually his name is Vault-Boy according to like… every game. Even if the devs of _Tactics_ (ugh, gross) called him Pipboy, it doesn’t matter. They didn’t make a significant addition to the franchise, and as far as the community is concerned, it isn’t even canon.

He is called Pipboy in the game, meaning that is who you recruit.
If you are trying to lecture me on what the character is called, go look up my multiple other videos about Fallout, some specifically about Vault Boy, where he is named that.
