  • Hi guys, let’s get ready for the Euros to arrive. Setting up their bins was exciting.
    Here is an affiliate link so that you can purchase worms and other worm accessories. It doesn’t cost you anything extra but if you use the link I get a small commission and it helps me out. The link is for Meme’s worm farm and the Urban Worm Company, you’ll love the products including the worms. When I have my own worms for sale I’ll let you all know for now these worms are amazing. I also have my own website now. Thank you all☺️

    I agree, we have to be careful about adding too much material that will heat up the bin. I was told a towel soaked in salt water placeon the sides of the bin helps to keep worms in. I haven't tried it yet because my worms don't like to wonder.

    That Brand of Manure is being all the GiNormous night crawler worms to my yard! Huge… they will probably thrive in there…

    You are right about AJ...he's a big recycler. So am I 👍 I just uploaded a short video on using shrimp 🍤 shells. I think you might add it to your worms 🪱

    Bin prep is looking good. I like the shredded newspaper too. Helps keep cost down plus you get a chance to recycle it to the worms 🪱 for some castings 💩

    I was telling a guy about your night crawlers. I don't want to say I lied to him but here in the South we get a little reckless with the truth lol he asked how big they were I told him I saw one that pulled a switchblade knife and took a rats cheese.

    Can I use chicken manure pellets instead of rabbit? Not sure if I can get rabbit
    Gonna keep looking. But I’ve ordered euros to come this week so looking at how to keep em

    • @TheGardenAndWormLady
      @TheGardenAndWormLady  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Chicken manure is a hot manure, which means you have to pre-composter before giving it to the Worms and heats up too much can kill them. If you can’t get rabbit manure, don’t worry about it I raised Worms for years before I actually got some.

    I find some dead smaller skinny worms. Most are fat and healthy. Bedding: peat moss. Food: ground egg shell, paper towel,shredded paper, spinach, tea bags, coffee grounds, romaine lettuce,banana peel,ect. Don't check ph. Maybe its too acidic? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    • @TheGardenAndWormLady
      @TheGardenAndWormLady  Před rokem

      It could be the acidity. Get yourself some dolomite lime. How big is your container? Get yourself a pH meter. The acidity should be 7, 6 is a little low but eight and above is way too high.
      I would back off on the coffee grinds because they can be very acidic. Just give them that on occasion make sure your bedding is moist at all times.

    • @TheGardenAndWormLady

      They eat every manure, but if it’s a manure, that’s gonna heat up your bin you need to compost it first

    Do you have a formula for how much bedding for 1 lb of euros

    • @TheGardenAndWormLady
      @TheGardenAndWormLady  Před rokem +1

      I would mix about five or 6 inches of peat, moss or coconut coir, about a tablespoon of dolomite lime, another type of grit, like play sand or egg shells I would say about a teaspoon make sure it’s very moist. Do that a day or two before you put them in. If you maintain good moisture, your European a Crawlers will stay fat.

    • @TheGardenAndWormLady
      @TheGardenAndWormLady  Před rokem +1

      I wear them occasionally, it’s just a personal preference. When I touch my phone a lot sometimes I put them on but it’s just a pain in the butt taking them on and off. Plus I just love feeling them/temps

    Not sure why you have to spend all this money on a worm bin. I just use leaves, cut grass, and organic matters. Doesn't cost me anything and it works great.

      Because I have it indoors inside my house. When I do it outside, I use anything outside.
