This Kelly system will sell like hot cakes in states & counties with big open fields, wish I would have thought of it!

Thanks for your comment! It's certainly popular in the American Midwest. We've also had a lot of rice farmers using our machine in the Mississippi River delta.

I don't see many farmers using something like this.Wonder what it would look like after a few years of use.

Have you guys thought about making a smaller system like a 8 or 10 foot model for the small farmers who have tractors less than 100 hp?

kelly has an option for farmers that have a tractor with less than 100 hp. A= Get A Larger Tractor!

Why would you use this instead of a regular harrow or a field cultivator?

Hello Judah, The rolling disc chains provide much greater coverage than a harrow and move 100% of the surface. The motion of the soil, sideways, provides superior levelling when compared to any tool that drags forwards, like a harrow. Compared to a field cultivator the discs maintain full coverage at very shallow depths, it's difficult to get a full cut with a field cultivator at 1 cm deep. The wear rates, energy consumption and productivity of field cultivators are all reasons to use a disc chain. One of the quotes I really like from a customer in the US was "The Kelly won't replace my field cultivator, but it will make it last a long long time". In reality he's parked his field cultivators and uses the disc chains for all his seedbed preparation and levelling. The disc chains provide a more level and even finish than either harrows or cultivators are capable of providing.

It looks good in the video, but I dont understand how it keeps a consistent digging depth. Maybe show it in conditions that arent perfect. Like knocking down weeds, or dry hard ground.

Miss sunshine is awful repetitive. Don't look like she knows very many words. Probably didn't graduate high school........looser

They make spiked disc too, but It's not made to plow yer fields, it's made to prepare fields, minimum tillage right here.

Really don't see the purpose of this piece of equipment, would never work in clay of north Carolina

Hello Wayne, we would be quite happy to demonstrate a machine on your farm if are interested. There is no question that soil type plays a big role in the performance of any tillage tool. I don't know your conditions but I do know the machines work brilliantly in the Gumbo soils in the Mississippi Delta. Their clay content is pretty high. Some sticky clays present a problem when too wet, but they do for all equipment. Our aim to do as little as possible while levelling and preparing a shallow, smooth and level seedbed. We aren't trying to dig deep at all, just shallow and consistent, using less fuel, covering more ground and leaving all the residue on the surface to manage moisture and protect from erosion. Cheers, Shane Kelly.
