Hope you all enjoy the video and I can help some people along with understanding the Design Tool. - Hry
Hopefully in the next up date there will design codes like in animal crossing new horizons
I fully believe there will be, at least in some way when multiplayer comes. My dream is a shop of my own filled with mannequins wearing the designs for visitors to download ^^
This would be amazing if they add this feature so we can download each other’s designs into our own games!!
Everytime I try and follow someone’s tutorial I always get clipping issues when I try and copy what they do to the bodice. I couldn’t for the life of me figure out how when they are making the top a different color with the shapes they wouldnt also get weird lines on the bottom of the dress. I also couldn’t find anyone talking about it. But watching your video I realized it’s that wrapping tool that looks like a globe so thank you for showcasing that. Also your dresses are beautiful and I wish they had a share designs button already.
Yeah that's a bug that came with the Toy Story update because they changed the dress model -again- Hopefully it gets fixed next update, if not, I'll make a tutorial for it and the ways to circumvent this problem. I did mention something with the Ariel dress Create-Along or one of those recent I think
I haven’t even got past the introduction yet. Just seen your custom made dresses and I have to say, you’re incredibly talented!! I’ve been trying to create my own clothing but I’m struggling with making them look nice and not just a cluttered mess
Thank you ^^ I hope the video helps a bit :)
I’ve been struggling also and would love to create beautiful masterpieces like she has done!!
@@Janeheartilly hope do i
I can see designing on a computer is so much easier. I’m on Xbox. But now I finally understand the advanced tools so this will make a WORLD of difference I was so annoyed how my designs would warp around the dress. I had given up. Now I’ll be trying it all again thank you!
Happy to have inspired someone, hope it won't be as frustrating now :)
I’m also on Xbox and have been having issues with designing. I’m excited to finish watching this tutorial to hopefully be able to learn to design clothing better.
I would LOVE a tutorial on the Celestial dress!! I love that one!!
It's a definite contender for the next Create-Along!
That’s my favorite too!! And her feathery one that goes along with Malafrcent’s wings and horns.
Thank you for showing us your process! You use the design tool in ways I didn't think of, and I really think I learned more about how the design tools work. I'm going to try some ideas soon. Maybe one day Dreamlight Valley will implement a feature like Animal Crossing to share clothing designs.
So happy you enjoyed it and it helped
Thank you so much. This is incredibly useful. Your dresses are gorgeous! ❤
I love the dessert themes they are so stinking cute
Omg your dresses are SO CUTE. I wish there's a way to get other players designed clothes like animal crossing:( will definitely get all your dresses lol
Thank you
Oh, that's a bug. Interesting. It seems the mirrored shape isn't using the correct projection. I wish I could fix it. This tool is my little baby, but it is no longer into my hands. Maybe you could hop into the Discord channel and ask the devs. It's probably a simple fix :)
By the way, your description of the tools is spot on. You're the first one I heard so far who got such an accurate description. When you say it's 2D vs 3D, it's pretty much the case. The globe icon follows the shape of the character (seams and all), and the default is a projection, which appears to be 2D.
I can't help it, I'm so happy to watch people use the tool and have fun with it, and design awesome creative things with it, it makes my little heart happy
Ah, so you are also someone responsible for my little happy place in this game haha. Thank you so much, I probably made nearly 200 designs now and am having ao much fun with it!
Every update they unfortunately mess with the dress models and break something, causing glitches and bugs they seem uninterested in fixing. It's a shame that the developers that made this moved on :( But thank you for your work on it!
Amazing - I hope Disney sees your designs and sponsors you as a fan creator (and gifts you the ultimate edition for free).
I would love to see your take on a Megara dress from Hercules. I'm definitely going to have to try and tackle it. Thank you for the tutorial
I was sure I replied to you! But that is a great idea for the princess line-up! I shall make work of it ^^
Omg the dresses are so pretty!😍👍

I’m only 13 minutes in but this is so helpful!
You have created a very cute Disney Princess 😊 💙.
This is fantastic! Thank you so much for doing this!
Very welcome and happy you like it ^^
Thank you for this tutorial! I didn't know the wrap button made it possible to enlarge your squares even more. It took me forever filling my custom dress with the small quares LOL.
Very welcome, happy it helped
Amazing job thank you so much for taking the time to make a tutorial!
Thank you and you are very welcome :) Might tackle another one in full one day ^^
OMG! THESE ARE GORGEOUS!!!
I just recently discovered your channel, and that candy dress is spectacular!
Absolutely Brilliant!!!!!!!! 💖👌🏻🙌🏻
Thank you ^^
Disney needs to put U on the creative team roster. ❤️
Such a compliment!! Thank you ❤️
Magnificent! 🎉❤
Thank you
This was so helpful, thank you! 🎉
Very welcome
Thank you so much for this!!!!!
You are most welcome
Thank yu sm for making this!! 🤗
You are most welcome, hope it helped :)
Hello, unfortunately I can't speak English very well. I play on the Playstation, unfortunately I can't sort out the motifs afterwards. It might be better if you show the arrangement of the motifs on the left of the picture again at the end. Super nice dress, thanks also for the great tricks with cutting it out. Warm greetings from Germany❤
Love this ❤❤
Awesome vid
Yes thank you ! I've been playing with the customization tool for awhile and I couldn't figure out how to move layers so I've been deleting and redoing them ! 🙃 🥲😅 thank you!
Ikr, that's what I was doing until I became determined to figure it out! Most frustrating 15 minutes of my life 😅
Cool
Thank you so much!!
Thank you for watching :D
Omg stunning work absolutely gorgeous. Your creativity is endless. Please share Facebook group
hopefully one day we can share these outfit online for others too use too.
I have high hopes for it, my dream is my own shop filled with mannequins wearing my designs that visitors can come download
@@Janeheartilly i hope so too and I'd would get some of your designs too since there to pretty.
Wow these are amazing I play on ps4 and I find it very difficult to make unique designs I did manage to make one pretty cool dress tho but I'm not super impressed with it lol
Keep working at it! It's addictive and will get easier (though I understand your pain with handling a controller :
good evening you are doing a fantastic job designing the dress. can you make one with snow white and the evil queen?
I have a Evil Queen x Regina one already and Snow White will likely come with the Princess line-up :)
You are great at this. Have you ever thought about going into fashion designing❔ this is my first time on your channel but I definitely subbed and will be back. I enjoy your content very much
Thank you very much, that is so sweet to say
😅😅 I need that Scar dress
But like its easy wheb you use the motifs its whdn you try to make the ones where you can make a flower for example out of different shapes that i have trouble understanding how its done
I need a valley tutorial too pls pls
I've been holding off on decorating to get some more options (and more villagers), but I will definitely do something when that time comes around!
I would love to know how to make the candy ears oh my lord i love them
Unfortunately I don't have them anymore :< They had to get binned to make room for dresses. But put strawberries max size on the bow and brown with the candies on the ears :)
@@Janeheartilly thank you so much! You're so talented
please do videos on designing your biomes :(
I'm holding off on that for now, because I want more options before diving into it fully, but I will give a tour ;)
Hi I love this video it makes me want to do nothing ting but design on this game now haha. How did you get the flame motif on your Hades dress? Im trying to make a Maleficent dress and that exactly what I need and I don"t have it
Haha, another addict created :p The 'flames' I used before we now actually got flames are from cutting out the wave motif :)
I loved them all, by the way how can I get that crocodile? I love crocodiles, but only got the game recently.
The ice cream croc is in more extensive founders pack, or for the people who got the game the first week. I dont think you can get it any other way.
@@troebeliewoep how do I get founders pack? I play on pc never saw those
The icecream dino or crocodile was a gift for those who purchased early access and played the first week, you can't get it anymore :
@@Janeheartilly so sad :(
You are Dutch aren’t you?
I’m Dutch too lol.
Love your dresses specially the Lion King one.
It's that blasphemous R isn't it xD
@@Janeheartilly that too lol but you speak very good English and for some reason i recognize the way Dutch people speak English. We can either speak very good English or very bad like Louis van Gaal 😂
@@LadySamurai88 That typical horribad dutch accent is just... omg. I absolutely refuse to be associated with that xD
@@Janeheartilly Haha me too.
But you speak very well English. That’s why i knew you were Dutch.
Great video!
Haha first thing my hubby said - ah a fellow dutchy?
can you give a tour of your house build ?
I will admit I am hoarding all furniture until I sorta burn out on dress design and then... then that will begin xD I'll be sharing some videos, since people have been asking ^^
If this tool was to be done again, what would be your wish list? Be wild :)
Oooh big question! Unfortunately I have about 3 mins before I need to go pick up my little one, so I'll muse on this and get back to you later this afternoon when I don't suck at phone typing, but have a keyboard at my disposal 😅😘
Okay, let’s get wild haha.
1) More layers! 50 is soooo very little to make anything really creative!
2) More slots! With nearly 200 designs done, I have heartbrokenly deleted 160+ of them
3) The ability to down and upscale more! And possible free size; so you are not bound to 2 (top) / 3 (bottom) squares to fill out a dress or a gradient, but can actually size 1 layer to fit the entire dress/the bottom part of the dress for instance.
4) An actual cutout tool! To be able to create a gradient/scene within a cutout shape! I made this happen with my Mufasa and Scar dresses, but I had to use all sorts of shapes to create the outline of the silhouette and fill the rest out black - which was difficult to say the least :p
5) Make the current cutout tool a fill tool - preferably with a choosable color, rather as base color dress.
6) Speaking of choosable colors; a color picker wheel!! Right now making a cutout/lace part to clothing to make it seem like skin is a task, especially when limited on layers.
7) I understand this makes it really advanced, but an eraser (and?) or a crop tool, so you can use portions of a motif, without having to go through effort to use - yet again - more layers to cover the parts you don’t want to use.
8) For the seams on the dress model to function a little more logically. When you upsize and wrap a layer and it goes from the dress onto the boddice, it curves dramatically weird at the back. Also at the shoulders, there is a point on the upper arm where it just creates a weird arch onto the shoulderblade.
9) Not let the base color of the dress be part of the gradient at all. It should be the color you pick (and thus the same color as a full filled shape, so you can align them and then gradually lowering its opacity. Or with a color picker wheel - to set 2 colors and create a gradient between! This saves layers :p
10) Speaking of opacity… an opacity tool!
11) For the pattern tool to be placed on a 3D model, rather as a 2D one, so if you pattern something while wrapping it, it uses the body as its center point and places the motifs in a pattern outwards down to the bottom of the dress. When I made Anna’s dress and was forced to use the pattern tool due to lack of layers it was eyebleeding to see it curve in arrows along the back seam.
12) No base color dress outer edges on motifs, so if you look closely (depending on the color), you can always see the little annoying line between motifs; which also makes it really hard to align them seamlessly.
13) Did I mention more layers? xD
@@Janeheartilly Hey Jane! Thanks for your reply!
1) 2) 3) Yeah. I tend to agree. We had to put restrictions in the game, but it's not for technical reasons. Adding more layers could eventually lead to increased baking time (when you confirm your motif), but it could go above 50, easily.
4) Interesting. It would be technically possible to do.
5) Actually, it's a cookie-cutter, so it's not that it picks the color of the dress, it creates a hole in the texture. A fill tool would also be doable. It would take any shape and replace every pixel color with the selected one, fairly simple.
6) Haha. I actually made one, but it was removed because we decided to limit available colors (my little heart was broken too).
7) I saw it done before so it's not mission impossible. I think, a draw tool that would bake the result into a texture, combined with what we have would do the trick. From the user's standpoint, it would look like drawing/erasing on the 3D model.
8) It's quite technical. In order to texture a 3D model, we have to unwrap it and make it flat so we can draw a texture on that flat surface (it's called a UV unwrap). There is a special unwrap for the motifs, but it's hard to make it even, so some parts take more texture space and some parts take less texture space, making the motifs change size across the model (when the globe icon is on). There is no real magic here, it has to be eyeballed by the artist doing the unwrap (usually applying a checker pattern texture as reference).
9) Yeah. That's a problem. I wonder if it wouldn't be better to apply the grayscale map that's on the dress to everything instead, since it's supposed to represent lights and shadows. It's true that motifs completely ignore the base grayscale.
10) Yep! I wonder if it was there at some point, I don't remember, but definitely should be.
11) That's a tough one. It's technically only a single texture put on repeat, so it has only one position. In projection mode (globe icon off) the motif acts like a flashlight. So it only hits the model from one angle. To achieve the desired effect, I would have to create one flashlight for every repetition and calculate where to put it around the model. Definitely tricky.
12) I think what you're seeing is an artifact of the way motifs get baked. It's technical, but blending them together at bake time (when you confirm your motif) doesn't render exactly the same as drawing one motif on its own above everything (while you're moving it around). Though I'm sure there's a trick to make it appear more similar.
13) Yep :)
14) Did you know that you can click on any motif directly on the 3D model and it will select it? Sometimes it helps when you get lost in a lot of layers ;)
@@carolineprenoveau7655 Thank you for your reply! It's so nice to learn some things and get an insight on how such things are made! And 14) REALLY?! You tell me this now after I made a dress with 45 Ravens and spend way too much time finding the exact ones when adjusting? xD I tested this ingame, but I can't get it to work. I tried shift+clicking, alt+clicking, ctrl+clicking and normal clicking and it didn't work :
@@Janeheartilly It didn't work? Oww, that's a shame. I wonder if the feature was removed or if it's a bug that was introduced later on (or it could be that it was dropped by accident because nobody noticed I put that in there :P). Maybe if you ask on the official Discord channel, you can get the feature back in. The code definitely exists
Have you tried to make elsa spirit dress, I love that one but I can seem to design it 😔
Not yet, was to be part of the after holidays princess collection :)
Are you dutch? If so me too! I like the dresses!
Yes, yes I am :p
Did you already get told that you can change the view to daylight hours without waiting for the real time to change and no, not time traveling either? If not I can help you do it.
I know this, it was implemented in the TS patch and has been a lifesaver with making screens for my dresses! But this video is older than that :)
How do I join your Facebook page
I don't have a facebook page of my own, just groups that I am in. I do have a Instagram and TikTok though, links are in the description of my videos :)
Hey are u dutch?
Yes I am
Adding the gradient messed my whole dress up 😭
:o Oh no! How so?
@@Janeheartilly it's okay... I somehow managed to change the base color on every layer 😅🙈 I fixed it now! I don't have all the motifs yet, but this dress is coming along nicely. Thank you so much for uploading a video, your dresses are absolutely stunning! 🥰 hopefully you release a tutorial for your Maleficent dress! 🤞
