I work with a vocal coach every Saturday for close to half a year now. I’ve had only two live performances so far in a very small encouraging live audience so that I can get a little feel of what it is like to do this live and work out the kinks. Let me tell, without my vocal coach and I working on the phrasing, on the places to take a break, and on the tone I should have for the songs I performed, I would have NEVER gotten to perform the songs that I wanted to perform. It is SOOO important for you to have a vocal coach in order to navigate any song....not even counting that this is one EXTREMELY tough song to sing live. I am serious about learning the technique/ the craft or singing and have been able to make MAJOR improvements in the last 6 months! James pls invest on finding a wonderful teacher and setting up a routine of practicing a little everyday. YOU have a lot of talent already, but you need to put in the work! Work that a lot of your favorite singers have been putting in for years already!

There’s a phenomenon (forgot what it’s called) where basically the claim is the more skilled you are, the less likely you are confident with your level of skill and the more confident you are, the less skilled you really are. Which basically means the people who THINK they’re good are probably awful at what it is they do and it’s rare to find someone arrogant AND skilled. There are the occasional outliers but humans in general tend to have trouble with being confident with their own talents and abilities.
Do you know why he hasn't found the perfect vocal coach? Because he genuinely believes that he doesn't need it. And when someone can't acknowledge their own failures, not even the best one in the world can suit him.

mcswiftino I’ve realized this about James his ego is so big. I think it takes him longer to realize that when everyone’s telling him he’s doing something poorly it’s the truth. The same thing happens with his eyebrows it took him a year to finally realize they looked awful, even though everyone was telling him so. I’m not trying to be mean with this comment but it’s just the truth.
