- It's NHL Tier List Day! Today I'm making easily the most requested video on my channel, My NHL Primary Logo Tier List. I will be looking at all 32 teams in the NHL to rank them from best to worst in a tier list format. I will only be looking at primary logos from this Hockey season (2023/24) so if you would like a part two with every teams alternate logo make sure you comment that below. Subscribe to Jimmy Hockey for more NHL News and Breakdowns and NHL 2024 Highlights.

Do you agree with my NHL Tier List, what other Tier Lists would you like to see next?
Still looking forward to 3rd overall pick tier list
Unrelated to the ranking, but why does the Bruins logo at 19:58 look like it moves when i shake the screen a little.
Great list! I would have the Sharks, Ducks, Penguins & Blackhawks as my favs.
Gotta be old school Mighty Ducks not their new one
@jimmyhockey obviously the old one!
@@scottcorfield9613Too bad that all 4 of the teams with the supposed best logos suck.
The H in the Montreal logo is for HOCKEY not Habs. The Wild logo is great, especially the 78s version.
What are you on about
@@thayer-ul5tv in the discussion of the Montreal logo he mentioned that he liked the H for Habs. It's not for Habs, it's for Hockey.
True, the « Habs » legend was built by old time manager Leo Dadurand because English speaking supporters from the Maroons used to insult the Canadiens players by calling them « habitants », or habs, which was a common insult from francophones who where often coming from a rural background, or an « habitant » way of living. When asked about the meaning of the « h » in the logo, Dandurand responded it was for « habitant » to mirror the way the insult had been turned into the famous « go habs go » chant by the crowd, turning an insult into a pride symbol. An absolute genius. The official registered name has always been « club de hockey des canadiens », « habitant » is just a myth, but an awesome one.
Good list!
My order would be:
Wild/Sharks
Pens
Canucks…hate the skate colors
Rangers
Kraken
Leafs
Blues
Coyotes
Trash:
Ducks
Boston
Canes
Caps
Vegas
Islanders
All the others are tied for not terrible lol. :)
I watched 3 other logo videos… you by far had the best one… Great editing. Colorado Avalanche is tops. Toronto is tied or close second.
Thank you Appreciate that 🙏🏻
No chance. If you need the entire city and team name on your logo to explain it... your logo has failed to be iconic.
Hartford Whalers is a S and one of the best ever along with the North Stars (though the Wild logo is great too).
We love the Penguins logo man no matter how bad they may be now the logo will always be awesome
🐧❤️
Even before I got into hockey I thought the wild's color scheme was really good and the logo is the perfect amount of confusion
“I’m gonna put this in b tier”
Proceeds to put it in c tier
Nashville has a great logo
I personally would swap florida and new jersey,(maybe also the wild and penguins), but otherwise I quite agree with this list.
New Jersey is definitely an A Florida could be a B and I wouldn’t be mad
@@jimmyhockey yeah it's all just opinions. No right or wrong
Although a die hard Montreal fan, I reckon that Chicago's logo is the best. There's something powerful and stoic about that head that makes it truly special.
It was up there for me top 3 for sure
I think you're letting nostalgia color your opinions. If you need to put your entire team name on your logo... your logo has probably failed. Unless you do something with the text and make it part of the logo... an iconic logo, much like a flag, shouldn't require your region and team name. Worst offenders (from worst to less worse):
Toronto Maple Leafs
New York Rangers
Washington Capitals
NY Islanders and LA Kings do this as well, but stylistically have more going on for them
Oilers and Jets (old logo) do the word well as the word is stylized to be PART of the logo. Always loved the hockey stick "J" in Jets on their old logo.
The Penguins have a nice color scheme but the logo is less iconic IMO... apart from its history, it could be worn by a school team. Now if they switched to a "Rock Hopper Penguin" I could get behind that. But right now, the penguin logo... although colored by nostalgia looks like an awkward top-heavy overweight penguin. Kudos on making a cute animal your hockey logo... but still... not the best.
As far as graphic design goes, Flames, Red Wings, Kraken, Blues, Canadiens and Flyers have the potential to be timeless. Philly's logo is simple, but the proportions, the black puck, the orange center dot, the P... it's just gorgeous and timeless. Calgary too... although a little simpler. I think Seattle's logo needs some time... but I think it has potential to be timeless as well... great integration of all the elements of the Kraken and that red eye... solid.
As a Canucks fan, I agree with your comments on their logos. They all hit, in different ways... not Best, but A/B tier.
Minnesota Wild? Nice Bob Ross painting perhaps, but meh otherwise. Looks like a piece of art more than an iconic logo.
Devils fan here, but you are buggin on Buffalo bro. Current logo is garbage. The best was 99-06
I disagree it’s clean
if we going base off logo, all original 6 in the Best, For A: Devils,Oilers,Wild,Pens,Blues, For B: Kings,Flyers,Canucks,Lightning, For C: Jets,Preds,Flames, and for the rest are garbage
🔥🔥🔥
I don’t understand Toronto maple leafs logo isn’t nice it’s so bland like I’m not a Montreal fan but there logo is better then torontos u must be a Toronto fan
Agree... a logo shouldn't have to rely on putting the city and team name on the front. I think there's just a bit of nostalgia there.
Imagine if Seattle had gone with "Seattle Evergreens" or "Seattle Cedars" and had a stylized "Coniferous tree" with the name "Seattle Evergreens" on a pine cone or tree... would anyone say anything nice about it?
Nope.
Now, maybe they could get creative with a stylized pine tree as those sharp edges on the tree could add some bite... with some work but if they overlaid their team name on it... nope.
The only ones that work with text are are logos that turn the name into a wordmark... Best examples of this are "Oilers" Jets (old J=stick), Canucks (old skate logo), and maybe "capitals" (ditch "Washington")
TML though... nah, it's just a leaf that someone slapped some words on to in MS paint. Colors are nice and the leaf design is decent... I mean... there's only so much you can do with a maple leaf, right?
