Big thank you to those missionary kids. I admit I’m not a fan of a lot of that, but sometimes those kids go into bad situations truly wanting to do good, and help others, and they were the first step in saving this baby. I hope if you guys see this, you maybe consider doing rescue work for animals. God put little angels on this earth in the the form of animals, to remind us of how how we have the potential to open our hearts to all in need. You never know, maybe that is what God wanted your to see 💖 To the rescue, you are amazing. It broke my heart knowing this poor dog was starving and walking the streets while she had cancer. I am too big of a softie when it comes to sick animals, I get immediately drawn to them for some reason. I guess that's why I always have a house full of companions of all sizes.

I grew up poor in the Philippines and we hardly had food or was always struggling to have food. But we made sure that our dogs would also have something to eat. I just couldn't bear the thought of our dogs not eating. I would share whatever food I had with my dogs back then. They all went to dog heaven decades ago, but still terribly miss them. I can't thank you enough for this CZcams Channel for always making me smile and giving my heart so much happiness every time I see videos of people taking care of these beautiful animals. I am so grateful for The Dodo Pittie Nation. These dogs go through so much. The stigma around them devalues bully breeds and also makes them attractive to the wrong people for the wrong reasons. This series by The Dodo shows how wonderful these dogs are even after suffering abandonment and/or trauma, and shows how all dogs regardless of breed thrive on love, positivity and companionship. This channel is doing so much to remove the stigma - as someone with a soft spot for bully breeds I’m very, very grateful.
*Mother tried to shield children killed in Memphis pit bull attack, family says* Two children near Memphis, Tennessee, were killed after the family dog attacked them. The mother of those children is in the hospital, as she sustained injuries trying to protect her kids. Family and friends say 30-year-old Kirstie Bennard fought to protect her children as two of the family’s pit bulls fatally attacked 5-month-old Hollace and 2-year-old Lillie last week. NewsNation-affiliate WREG spoke to a neighbor who is still in shock over the incident. “It nearly brought me to tears. It’s just heartbreaking. I can’t even wrap my head around it. My heart goes out to everybody involved,” the neighbor, who preferred to not be identified, said. The family had owned the pets for more than eight years without incident. Kirstie’s husband and father of the children, Colby, was not home at the time of the attack. According to his uncle, Jeff Gibson, the mother tried her best to shield her children while the attack lasted for about 10 minutes. Gibson says she suffered bitemarks all over her body. I’m sad for the victims, and I’m sad that all the public is ever told about the dogs is that they might be in the bully category, we don’t know about their treatment, training or even what breed they are. Were these dogs AmStaffs? Were they American Bulldogs? Were they American Pit Bull Terriers? Were they really a bully breed at all or were they Cane Corso or Dogo Argentino, which look like bully breeds but aren’t. In reality they were probably mutts, like most of the dogs called “pit bulls” are. When a dog reported to be a pit bull mauled a woman to death in Montreal, the city instituted a pit bull ban. It was later reported that the dog was actually a boxer. Meanwhile, although the ban reduced the number of pit bull attacks, the number of hospitalizations for serious dog bites increased slightly over time. I also wish someone would explain what percentage of the millions of bully mixes (there are between 3-5 million in the US alone) have ever hurt anyone? If 100 out of these millions of dogs are aggressive then the aggressive ones are clearly outliers, so what causes the aberrant behavior? It’s clear that the vast majority of these millions of dogs don’t cause problems, so it’s not the breed that causes the issue. These dogs aren’t even all one breed. If we know more about the incidents we could target the root cause. It’s interesting that places that have banned ‘pit bulls’ and other ‘dangerous dogs’ over the years are lifting these bans little by little, after it’s been made clear that the bans *did not increase safety* . SCIENCE Pit bull bans rarely seem to reduce serious dog bites By Patrick Cain Global News Posted December 11, 2017 2:58 pm Updated December 12, 2017 11:06 am Bans on pit bulls and other large dogs have had little effect on serious dog bites, communities around the world have seen. Breed-specific bans follow a familiar cycle: there is a well-publicized incident involving pit bulls, followed by a breed-specific ban which then does little to affect the overall number of serious dog bites. The community concerned either does or doesn’t repeal the ban, depending on local political dynamics. After local elections last month, Montreal moved last week to relax a controversial ban on pit bulls. At the core of the debate is a question: Are pit bulls so uniquely dangerous that they should all be banned, or can any large dog be dangerous, given a malicious or unskilled owner? Toronto dog bite data, to take one example, tends to support the second argument. Ontario brought in a province-wide law in 2005 aimed at removing pit bulls completely from the province over time. My pittie had cancer - mastocytoma. I was told it wasn't treatable. Even though the vet said she only had a very short time left, she lasted another 4 years. I was offered some expired human chemo drugs from an oncologist friend but all the research said it doesn't work for dogs. I was just happy to have those extra 4 years. It was a long time ago now and I still miss her so much. I think that's why I cry watching these dog survival stories!

I am so grateful for The Dodo Pittie Nation. These dogs go through so much. The stigma around them devalues bully breeds and also makes them attractive to the wrong people for the wrong reasons. This series by The Dodo shows how wonderful these dogs are even after suffering abandonment and/or trauma, and shows how all dogs regardless of breed thrive on love, positivity and companionship. This channel is doing so much to remove the stigma - as someone with a soft spot for bully breeds I’m very, very grateful.

*Mother tried to shield children killed in Memphis pit bull attack, family says*
Two children near Memphis, Tennessee, were killed after the family dog attacked them. The mother of those children is in the hospital, as she sustained injuries trying to protect her kids.
Family and friends say 30-year-old Kirstie Bennard fought to protect her children as two of the family’s pit bulls fatally attacked 5-month-old Hollace and 2-year-old Lillie last week.
NewsNation-affiliate WREG spoke to a neighbor who is still in shock over the incident.
“It nearly brought me to tears. It’s just heartbreaking. I can’t even wrap my head around it. My heart goes out to everybody involved,” the neighbor, who preferred to not be identified, said.
The family had owned the pets for more than eight years without incident.
Kirstie’s husband and father of the children, Colby, was not home at the time of the attack. According to his uncle, Jeff Gibson, the mother tried her best to shield her children while the attack lasted for about 10 minutes.
Gibson says she suffered bitemarks all over her body. He posted about the incident on Facebook.
“This attack lasted over 10 minutes, and she never gave up trying to save these babies,” Gibson said. “Now all of us family and friends have to rally around both of them and show them how much they are loved.”
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office said both dogs have now been euthanized. Bennard is still healing from her injuries in a Memphis hospital. Her condition has been upgraded from critical to stable.

I’m sad for the victims, and I’m sad that all the public is ever told about the dogs is that they might be in the bully category, we don’t know about their treatment, training or even what breed they are. Were these dogs AmStaffs? Were they American Bulldogs? Were they American Pit Bull Terriers? Were they really a bully breed at all or were they Cane Corso or Dogo Argentino, which look like bully breeds but aren’t. In reality they were probably mutts, like most of the dogs called “pit bulls” are.
When a dog reported to be a pit bull mauled a woman to death in Montreal, the city instituted a pit bull ban. It was later reported that the dog was actually a boxer. Meanwhile, although the ban reduced the number of pit bull attacks, the number of hospitalizations for serious dog bites increased slightly over time.
I also wish someone would explain what percentage of the millions of bully mixes (there are between 3-5 million in the US alone) have ever hurt anyone? If 100 out of these millions of dogs are aggressive then the aggressive ones are clearly outliers, so what causes the aberrant behavior? It’s clear that the vast majority of these millions of dogs don’t cause problems, so it’s not the breed that causes the issue. These dogs aren’t even all one breed. If we know more about the incidents we could target the root cause. It’s interesting that places that have banned ‘pit bulls’ and other ‘dangerous dogs’ over the years are lifting these bans little by little, after it’s been made clear that the bans *did not increase safety* .

Pit bull bans rarely seem to reduce serious dog bites

Bans on pit bulls and other large dogs have had little effect on serious dog bites, communities around the world have seen.
Breed-specific bans follow a familiar cycle: there is a well-publicized incident involving pit bulls, followed by a breed-specific ban which then does little to affect the overall number of serious dog bites. The community concerned either does or doesn’t repeal the ban, depending on local political dynamics.
After local elections last month, Montreal moved last week to relax a controversial ban on pit bulls.
At the core of the debate is a question: Are pit bulls so uniquely dangerous that they should all be banned, or can any large dog be dangerous, given a malicious or unskilled owner?
Toronto dog bite data, to take one example, tends to support the second argument. Ontario brought in a province-wide law in 2005 aimed at removing pit bulls completely from the province over time. Existing dogs were to be spayed or neutered, and it became illegal to bring them into the province.
“Over time, it will mean fewer pit bull attacks and, overall, fewer attacks by dangerous dogs,” then-attorney general Michael Bryant told the Ontario legislature at the time.
Ontario’s ban certainly led to the disappearance of pit bulls. What it didn’t do, at least in Toronto, was reduce the number of serious dog bites. (Bite data in Ontario is only collected by municipalities.)
The Toronto Humane Society wrote in a 2013 paper that breed-specific bans seemed to have no effect on the overall number of serious dog bites.
The THS cited Calgary’s system as a model to emulate. Calgary, which has seen a five-fold reduction in its dog bite rate over a 20-year period, focuses on training and accountability for dog owners, not on the breed of a particular dog. Calgary also puts resources into dog safety for the general public, especially children.
Communities elsewhere in the world have seen similar results.
The Irish Republic imposed special restrictions on 11 types of large dogs, including pit bulls, in 1999. By 2013, the number of people in the Republic hospitalized for dog bites had risen by 50 per cent.
In Sioux City, Iowa, which banned pit bulls in 2008, dog bites stayed at about the same level, even rising slightly. (As in Toronto, the law did reduce bites by pit bulls, however.)
The Netherlands passed and later abandoned a breed-specific ban. New legislation requires owners of certain breeds, including pit bulls, to take a course in dog training.
My pittie had cancer - mastocytoma. I was told it wasn't treatable. Even though the vet said she only had a very short time left, she lasted another 4 years. I was offered some expired human chemo drugs from an oncologist friend but all the research said it doesn't work for dogs. I was just happy to have those extra 4 years. It was a long time ago now and I still miss her so much. I think that's why I cry watching these dog survival stories!
She is now chunky, happy and loving, 😊
