Correction: There is a chance that the game doesn’t always run at native resolution I would imagine something like dynamic resolution scaling might be working here

Crash bandicoot was the very first game we played on the PlayStation Christmas morning 1995, and were absolutely blown away by the graphics! So I may have to pick this one up purely for the nostalgia 😅
This port is way better than it has any right to be. It really feels like the developers made this game with the intentions of always porting it to Switch; without any actual detriment to the game itself. Really admirable stuff. I will absolutely be double dipping on this one, because I love to see this type of support. Plus this game is sooo good. Can’t wait to play it again (while pooping now).

Grew up with this series and with the portability of the switch makes this game good in my book
I remember playing it on ps1 back before the analog sticks came out! My 6 year old loves crash now too hehe.. Cant wait for a sale to pick this up! 😁

@@naughtydog9843 that's awesome! I got a bundle for christmas way back when and it came with crash and resident evil and I think metal gear or something like that. A christmas to remember hehe. Snes/ps1 generation was my sweet spot for gaming, and I often long for old school games. I'm playing bravely default 2 and its scratching that itch!

Aw man this one looks amazing. Graphics and locked frame rate are fantastic. Load times don't seem too long.
Can't wait to see this myself and hear the always fun Crash music while hopping on crates... probably missing 1 or 2 that I have to come back for later. And grappling hooks are always a plus.

Huge crash fan from back in the ps1 days, crash 3 being my favourite. Wasn't going to pick this up as I heard the insane trilogy wasn't the best but now you've intrigued me. If it gets a wicked sale I'll pick it up

I was worried when first starting it up as the opening seemed to chug a bit, but once I started the game, I was absolutely thrilled. They've done such a fantastic job!

Wow - I didn’t expect such good news! I have this game for PS4 but since my kids have taken that system over during the pandemic, I might just buy Crash 4 again for Switch.
Going on the wishlist to be bought eventually. Played the originals and got the ports, but I was more of a Mario and Spyro player, so I'll enjoy them but not going to go crazy over it yet.

Yesss, I searched specifically for this review from you guys, as I was just playing Crash 4. It’s so difficult but I’m not even fussed because it’s just such an enjoyable game to play, the graphics are sweet, music is cool and it’s so fun to play. I’m so glad this got a positive review because It’s one of my favourite games on switch and was among the first of the physical games I got with it! I gave up trying to get all the boxes and I’m just enjoying playing all the levels. I didn’t see your rating, but I would rate the Game 8.5 out of 10. Crash Bandicoot 3 Warped was easier to collect the crystals, gemstones and relics and had loads of variety of levels and a breeze to get through, a classic I played on PS2 about 2 lifetimes ago 😅, so for me, that Game is the best crash game and gets a 9/10. Crash 4 makes up for it in other ways, so I love them both…the animated masks are just amazing😊

I bought the game after watching your video and so far it works well
The only noteworthy point is that sometimes the game does take a long time to start (ie loading the title screen)
I LOVE when a home console that is lesser than compared to it’s competitors, achieves damn near the same game experience as the more powerful systems!
Even though I have a Series X and a PS5 my Switch still gets heavy rotation. 🙏
@@EastSide_LB same, except if it's a game that achieves better frame rate on ps5 I pick that platform instead.
I mean this game isn't that demanding compared to other titles, just look at Apex on the witch compared to it's competitors, not as great of a performance even at lower settings.

Looks ok. I was happy when they brought the collection over of the first three. I prefer those.
I had delayed getting this on PS4 as I always thought we'd eventually get a Switch version and I have the Trilogy and CTR on Switch already. This is a definite pick up for me.
I'm not a huge fan on the very thorough and in-depth performance reviews. I don't mind a general overview but I sometimes feel we get maybe a little too hung on the nerdy details at times. For people who like it, it was very well done but personally, I prefer the general style of review that you guys tend to do.
Just ordered it. Looks great and I can't wait to see more footage of the Tony Hawk port coming eventually, that'll be a day 1 buy for sure.

There’s an update of just under 1GB. The game itself is just under 10GB.

I was tempted to get this on ps, then didn’t. Tempted all over again on switch.
I’ve never played a crash and just think the front to back directional element of it won’t be as enjoyable to me as a side scroller. Did anyone else have the same worry?

This game is incredible and I can't believe it didn't sell well. To be honest I think the price took people by surprise when it launched last year.
Especially since N Sane Trilogy was almost half the price of Crash 4.
Im fine with the usual 60 dollars on switch... lets be real most games are 60 dollars not just nintendo... But it being CHEAPTER on Switch, yeah ppl shouldnt be able to complain about that, sad to think people still would try to make up nitpicks
This game didn’t sell well cause it was too hard that’s why nothing to do with buying the game it’s was ridiculously hard and wasn’t enjoyable like the rest of crash bandicoot the graphics was excellent even the game was but far to difficult 😞 so it wasn’t enjoyable to play

I could have bought this game for the PS4, but I really wanted this game for the Switch ever since it was announced, and frankly with no pun intended (ok maybe a little), it's about time.

First of all why am I up at this time to be able to see this? Second I am actually really impressed by this port and have always been a fan of good 3D platform games but for ages they seemed to be relegated to cash in games for movies or cartoons. Sort of glad they are getting a bit of a resurgence and it's the ones that were big 20 years ago. I'll be picking this up as it is something I can play on some long journeys I have coming up for work now things are starting to lift.
This game is beautifully designed, I wish I could handle the difficulty. These levels look ridiculous.
Yeah... I like some platformers like Ori & Mario games but for some reason I have bad memories of Crash games from childhood. I'd get frustrated & have to beg my brother to help play for me
I tend to rage out when playing games like this, you wouldn’t think it but Spyro is such a rage inducing game, looks beautiful, charming characters but man some of the levels are absolute motherf*****s 😂

Surprisingly how much this game is neglected for Switch on CZcams and the internet. So far I've played a bit (up until the start of the pirate world just after the Stage Dive level boss) and I must say it's a fun game. I've never been a big fan of the original Crash games, but I played them very sporadically. The spirit of these games has been kept, but the difficulty is what strikes me the most. It has been said that the difficulty is more or less comparable to the original trilogy, but I can't recall the Crash Bandicoot games being so difficult. Although difficult, it always feels fair and deaths are always my own fault, on contrarory to - let's say - Tropical Freeze.
As said graphics aren't as sharp as the other console versions and backgrounds can be a bit blurry, but given the limited resources of the Switch this is a very respectable port. It's not the best platformer I have ever played, but it is very solid and quite fun to play. Too bad it doesn't sell more.
You mentioned that the resolution is 1080p but digital foundry said it’s 720p
Digital Foundry is correct as they actually count the pixels.
