    I don't know how to express how much your vids have moved my progress in this hobby. You are much appreciated. Thank you so much. P.S. I ordered some of your genetics two days ago, they should get to the U.S. in a day or two, right? Just kidding, I know a month or two. Hell, if they never show, I've already gotten more than my moneys worth from your vids. Seems a paltry price for amount for the knowledge and experience that goes into your vids and products. Again, thank you so so much.

      Thank you for you message. I am very glad these videos are helping people. That is my whole reason for doing this. I hope to elevate growers to new levels. There are so many bright minds out there that will take this thing to places I think we can barely imagine right now. I found it difficult to progress past a certain point with the YT videos. That is why I started making my own, just to provoke some thoughts. It seems to have worked :) Let me know if you have any other ideas.
      Thank you for the genetics order. That is a wonderful way to help me out and keeps the electric on here at the farm. :)

    I'm getting closer to this point @edwardgrand and I can't wait to see it grow side by side with a dikaryon MSS bag cross, maybe the golden Halo will pick up the Toque hat 🙏.. You also really intrigued my curiosity on the possibility of a pigmented mushroom being dominant over a albino one. Thanks Ed!

    Thanks a ton Doc...always good stuff. I'm moving to your rice in stapled PP5 bag approach and was wondering a couple things. 1) what is the avg RH in your working area 2) once you inoculate your bags, do you store them in any kind of a higher humidity environment? We typically see about 23% RH here and so far, my test bags seem to have dried way faster than expected. I'm new to rice and I'm betting the staple seam allows more flow than a patch, so I was just wanted to calibrate a bit. Thanks man.

    • @edwardgrand
      @edwardgrand  Před 5 měsíci +1

      1) 65%
      2) No
      You could store your spawn in a Martha, tentm or monotubs with puppy pads/diaper tek.
      You could also use more folds. That is a bit odd that the PP5 bags are drying out. Try making the folds tighter or use more staples.

  • @starburstmemories
    @starburstmemories Před 2 měsíci

    Hey mister, thanks for yet another awesome vid. I'm about to attempt my first di-mon on a plate, and before I proceed to trying this in a jar I'd like to understand something.. If your di and mon inoculation points are far appart (like the two pieces of agar on each side of the bag/jar), isn't there a risk the regular di will start colonising grain by itself (and maybe even the mono mycelium) before they meet and start colonising as a di-mon? Couldn't this produce two genetics when you spawn to bulk, your original di along with the di-mon?

    • @edwardgrand
      @edwardgrand  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Yes. There are three possible fruiting genotypes. The original dik, and the two combinations of mono and one of either dikaryon nuclei. I am also experimenting with the timing. I have observed one phenotype dominating the fruit mostly. Usually the mono and one of the nuclei from the dikaryon. If you use an albino for the dik, and a pigmented for the mono, you will likely see a pigmented phenotype if the transfer was a success.

  • @cjjernigan3276
    @cjjernigan3276 Před 5 měsíci

    You sell mono LC?! Thats awesome man i dont know anybody else doing that! I havent really searched for it but first time ive heard of it prob cuz people want to keep their "secret genetics" thinking its going to make them rich or something. Thanks for what you do for the community🍄👍🍄

    • @edwardgrand
      @edwardgrand  Před 5 měsíci +3

      I think I am the only one doing it. It's a little tricky doing mono LC because it requires a huge amount of testing and verification. Way more intense than dikaryons that have been shown to fruit.
      But I think you're right, people think they're gonna get rich by sitting on their monos. Kind of a silly idea to me, but maybe they've got the 'secret' monos ;)

    What temperature would you suggest for colonization of grains. I have 77 degrees f. My b+ is going well but my ape seems to stall or take forever. My ape is strong in my liquid culture. I haven’t grown in a while. The only notes I didn’t keep was temperature in my tent.

    Do you mind explaining how the stapling doesn’t induce contamination- are the staples filling the hole it creates?

    • @NickBulger
      @NickBulger Před 5 měsíci +3

      correct me if i’m wrong ed,
      he folds the bag before stapling and staples it in the center of the fold.
      the outside air cannot work its way through the layers of folded plastic to reach the culture.

    • @edwardgrand
      @edwardgrand  Před 5 měsíci

      Exactly. I fold it down about 4-5 times and then staple in the middle of the fold. You can be even more careful and make sure the cut edge at the top ends-up in the middle of the other folds. Make the first fold like an inch, and then half-fold from there down. Hope that makes sense.@@NickBulger
